In the original version both Archi and Rinku die. In Dhadak only the actor pays the price of life.
Did Kjo went soft on the female character?

Aashiq da kuttapa hona tha to dono ka hona tha na, ek ko kyun maara?

If you look at it that way then isn't it the girl who is paying the price? Now she has to not just live the rest of her life without her loved ones and on the top of it with the guilt, anger, vengeance, helplessness(and you name it, every negative emotion out there) that it is her own family who did that...
Its much easy on someone who dies but the ones who are living are the ones who have to pay the bigger price...

Yes this is true but can you really use this argument to reason with a person who is about to be murdered? I am sure the majority will be like nai bhai mat maaro, i will live with all the added grief as long as I live

Try asking Parthavi...I bet she will choose to die along with her loved ones!

Like Anand says in the movie Anand:

Jab tak zinda hoon tab tak mara nahin, jab mar gaya sala tab main hi nahin...

Living a life under the weight of the dead bodies of ones own loved ones is much much more difficult than dying before ones loved ones...

I have not seen Dhadak so I do not know the whole context of the death.
By itself, it is not sexist to leave a female protagonist living while her male lover dies. In fact, the reverse trope of a mother, sister, wife, girlfriend being raped and/or killed has been commonplace for male trauma and revenge. This time it appears the man is killed to inflict the trauma on the woman.

Spoilers ahead.

I think it was the father's revenge on his daughter for spoiling his image in his political circle. It wasn't about her being a woman, and hence sparing her life. She leaves everything behind for this one man, builds a life with him, starts a family, and all of it is taken away from her in a heartbeat by her own family. The opposition leader keeps taunting the father on news channels over his daughters actions, and he is shown as an extremely ambitious politician who wants to grab power at any cost, and when he does it all seems hollow because his image is in tatters because of his daughter. Therefore, to me, it seemed like he wanted to teach her a lesson by taking her world away from her. He didn't physically harm her, but ensured she'd be like a living corpse for the rest of her life.

Which means her father was most likely setting her up for another marriage sans the husband and the baby which are both out of her way now. She will cry, protest and then eventually get married and relocate to a foreign country where she will get busy paying mortage, getting her drivers license, weekend shopping from walmart, laundry on sunday's etc.

@Bold - Perhaps. However, I do believe the father would have acted in a similar fashion had Madhu been his son. He would have knocked off Parthavi and their child to teach his son, Madhu, a lesson. When it comes to honor killings, the parents never really care about their children's well being. It becomes all about saving their so called 'honor', therefore, even though he spared her life, I am pretty certain it wasn't for her happiness.

Its a star kid launch movie , Obviously Boney kapoor and KJO will tweak the story in such a way that character of janvi will create long impact among viewer. A tragic, traumatic , sufferer protagonist will create more impact .
