In the epic that is the Shivika journey, real or redux, from time to time we come across some episodes where NM-SC prove their amazing caliber as performers, with their ability to carry almost 12 minutes of uninterrupted screen time, to HOLD you to the scenes, to the episodes in such a way that you aren't bored for a minute. This talent is really a rare one...and some of my all time fav. Shivika scenes/IB epis have resulted thanks to this talent of theirs...from the first set of Jungle adventures last April to the bhaang Catharsis to Shivaay's iconic video monologue to Laal Ishq to now today's punch drunk redux...what all of these scenes have in common is NM-SC's ability to just have fun with their long scenes. To navigate such a range of emotions, of highs and lows in the course of doing these long scenes is what becomes a joy to watch onscreen.
And to think today was just part 1...the scene continues tomorrow...lucky us😆
Anyways, there's a lot to talk about today...starting from expectations...which are bound to be high considering that the first drunk scene remains in the top 3 favs. of any Shivika fan...Shivaay's first "Thank you", Anika's epic description of his rang badalti GIRGIT jaisi kanji aakhein😆, Shivaay calling her "so cute" over and over again😆...there was lots to love in that scene.
But today's scene had a totally different approach...today's drunk scene wasn't just about this Shivika loosening up around each other, today's scenes were about this Shivika getting the chance to learn things about each other that they otherwise keep hidden...there weren't any obvious attempts to tell each other "secrets" like the previous Shivika did...and yet somehow they ended up sharing some of their innermost thoughts and feelings...I think what I quite liked about this scene was Redux Shivika actually getting a chance to know each other...so far the attraction has been instantaneous without knowing much about each other...today they got to know each other better in a drunk state so that added some substance.
The way it started with Anika only having the punch when Shivaay nods at her take it...these little touches again show their deep tuning and connection even if they have no idea how instinctively they react to each other...they just go along with it
I also found it amusing that this Anika knows how to do "cheers" as if she's very used to having drinks with ppl😆
So just like last time, Rudy ke "special" punch ka CHASKA aisa lagaa Shivika ko that they couldn't stop drinking it...Anika had one sip and came back to get more later...lol and Shivaay after having coffee randomly wanted to have punch😆...and then both of them guzzled down a few glasses I'm guessing to finally reach the state they were in the bedroom😆...with the glasses balanced on their tummies😆
Then Shivaay decided to play tabla on his glass😆
And Anika started to see a GLOWING Shivaay😆
The transition then to Anika wondering why she's seeing two two Shivaays and then laughing ki there really are two of him cuz he has two sides to him...stone waali aur sweet waali...haha at Shivaay just watching her with wide eyes in response and Anika pulling his cheek😆...all the faces she made at him in the process just cracked me up...😆
All the crazy faces she was making at him...oh the list is endless today...so much to capture😆
In response, Shivaay's like...tum bhi do-do ho...cuz you either keep crying and falling all the time or you can manage to make 100 Kg laddoos😆...Anika's hilariously proud/smug expression in response just cracked me up😆
And then both of them just bursting out laughing...haha so adorably done
Anika pausing to note his laughter and then pointing out to him that he's LAUGHING😆...the way he abruptly stops in shock then😆...Aww Billu...lol
And then the instant request to not tell anyone...kyunki IMAGE ka sawaal hai SSO ki...Anika amused, but agrees...with not just a promise but a PINKY PROMISE😆
NM-SC adlibbing their way through this scene even after he accidentally hits her with his knee while shifting positions😆
The thing about the first Pinky Promise is the sheer GLEE Anika takes in it😆...she's got such a satisfied smirk on her face when she's like come let's do a pinky promise😆...and the way she then swings their hands together for a bit once they're linked...itna powerful Pinky Promise tha that it transported them from their bedroom to the living room😆
And I love how Shivaay never has to be explained what the pinky promise is...he always just puts up his own pinky on seeing hers and she links them together...that's how it happened last time too😆
There was a new kind of subtlety even to their drunk masti today...it's a shade to be savored I feel...one that grows on you more on a rewatch :)
