makers making their mark in the Indian
film industry, it seems they are all
attempting to push more boundaries
than ever before. And if the recent trailer
release of the Akshay Kumar starred
Gold' is anything to go by, director
Reema Kagti is determined to prove
females are as capable as making hard-
hitting films, as good as their male
counterparts.
Gold' is based on the victorious gold
medal India's hockey team had won in
1948, during the summer Olympics in
London. Being the first female to direct a
film based on a sport, Kagti recently
spoke to the media about the perception
that women can't be taken as seriously
as men in this line of work. "I hope I can
change that perception in India. There is
nothing that can stop a woman from
doing virtually anything she wants,
including directing a sports film if she is
convinced about it, Times of India
reported the film maker stating.
She went on to add, "As for a woman
directing a sports film, let me tell you that
even the sports coordinator who
worked on my film was a woman. So
yeah, I hope I can ignite the change in
perceptions in India.
Also starring Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh and
Vineet Kumar Singh, Gold' is set to
release on 15th August.
