Akshay Kumar meets Sonali Bendre in New York after hearing about her i

Sonali Bendre, one of the most talented and
prettiest faces on the block, made an
unfortunate revelation of her suffering from
high-grade cancer. The actor is currently in
New York seeking treatment for the same.
In an official statement released today,
Sonali said that she is taking this battle head
on and is optimistic because of the
unconditional support she has been
receiving from her friends and family.
Here's what the statement read:
Sometimes, when you least expect it, life
throws you a curveball. I have recently been
diagnosed with high-grade cancer that has
metastised, which we frankly did not see
coming. A niggling pain led to some tests,
which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My
family and close friends have rallied around
me, providing the best support system that
anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and
thankful for each of them.
There is no better way to tackle this than to
take swift and immediate action. And so, as
advised by my doctors, I am currently
undergoing a course of treatment in New
York. We remain optimistic and I am
determined to fight every step of the way.
What has helped has been the immense
outpouring of love and support I've received
over the past few days, for which I am very
grateful. I'm taking this battle head-on,
knowing I have the strength of my family
and friends behind me.
As soon as the news broke the internet,
recovery wishes for the actor started
pouring in. From Sonam Kapoor, Arjun
Kapoor, Anil Kapoor to Hrithik Roshan,
Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Bachchan and
others tweeted wishing her speedy
recovery.
According to a report in Hindustan Times,
Akshay, with whom Sonali shared screen
space in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai
Dobara, met Sonali in New York as soon as
he learnt
about this. Confirming the same, Akshay told
HT, "I know that Sonali is a fighter. May God
help bring her back in the best of health."
Sonali made her film debut opposite
Govinda in 1994's Aag and is one of the few
actors to have worked with all the three
Khans - Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and
Aamir Khan.
