I think he really did love her, but his ego and thinking get in the way...
She and he both didn't enter in the relation with an open mind... both didn't know where to go with the marriage. But she fell in love because he saved her from Siraj and chose to belive her... it took him time to understand his love for her, but I don't doubt for a second that he didn't love her. It's that his anger, and ego gets the best of him...
He has a great mom... but until Zara came, his Ammi also danced along to his Abbu's Words. She had no say whatsoever. So that is what Kabir has grown up seeing. For instance, on Alina's Birthday, alina asked ayesha to let her go for some course for higher studies but Ayesha said pls don't ask me something that I can't give to you, that is not in my hand but rather your Abbu's. So she had a silent role all this time. Now that Zara is leading, she will follow because the right is already given to her. In Zara's case, her ABBA himself has given her the freedom to be independent and live her life to the fullest and to fight for her rights as a women while her Amma is against all of this.
Kabir respects his mom a lot, but like I mentioned before she has a silent role meaning that she stays at home and fulfills house duties. And thats what Kabir wants. A wife like his mother. But he didnt know that Ayesha was unhappy and he didn't know her dreams either. He just imagined that is how it is. So I don't think he has a good example at home either.

All this is the cvs doing just for the sake of TRP this show had a powerful drive at the beginning but they made it out to be the triangle/in-laws same old indian serial affair but little that they haven't realised is that the first high TRP was during the HONEYMOON TRACK and this is what they can't get into their thick skull people like to watch love stories not these nonsense track.
