Blind Prejudice and Helpless Attraction

Following the standard pattern of the last two weeks, we get our second decent epi of the week on Friday...so the rule still holds that only Mon and Fri epis are worth watching😆

Today, I felt the scenes were better executed than the last many days including the phuss hospital confrontation which now seems to have become a basic FB for all Shivika scenes...lol

Shivaay as expected is not happy to see Anika in his house...Anika for her part is feeling weighed down by the obligation of being in his house and shocked at the level of accusations being hurled at her...not that I'm exactly loving it but I was heartened a bit to see her atleast trying to clear her name even if it was in such a soft tone that it's barely going to register on a Shivaay determined to think the worst of her😆...I honestly though had to laugh at his "This is all a PLAN" spiel...the previous Shivaay still had some basis to his instant prejudice, the fact that she'd challenged his ego, questioned his authority...this Shivaay on the other hand seems more driven by pushing back against the helpless attraction he feels towards her...he has a whole list of grievances against her ki Kaju DHOSA khilaya Prinku ko, Maa ke baare mein taunt maara but the real underlying cause seems to be an attraction even stronger than the last time. Last time they had arguments to defuse or channel some of that electricity arcing b/w them...this time he rants and she seems to be still gathering her bearings about how to react to him...

The previous Anika used to be wounded by his harsh words too...but somehow this one is even more emotionally fragile and even though she's barely seen him a day back, every word, every reaction of his cuts deep...that is the impression this is giving so far...especially for the way Anika was later sitting and crying so helplessly in a corner...reminded me of the Anika who was crying after she overheard him saying to OmRu that she's the type of girl to phasaao him for money...that Anika had reached that stage after having interacted with him so much and that hurt was an indication of the fact that she'd fallen in love with him that his words cut so deep.

They both seem to go still the moment they see each other and are always helplessly staring at each other like the world around them fades away...this was obvious both in the scene when she entered the house the next morning and later when she's in his room...good use of bg music and camera angles in both scenes again...NM-SC-LM are getting the silent chemistry on point, no doubt.

I'm just wondering what the larger picture here is...Anika is shown to get so much deja vu of her old room when she enters it...so the fact that they are trying to show an active deja vu not just towards each other but also towards the memories, the places they've shared together...makes me wonder if at some point this Anika will magically regain her "memory"😆...cuz the deja vu concept is being played quite vaguely right now. I'm not sure AU characters are supposed to feel this level of deja vu towards a parallel universe.

The little takkar Shivika had in the room...lol their little thought voiceovers there...lol so they still aren't having any proper convos and silence or thoughts are all we're gonna get for now...but it was an amusing bit with both of them wanting to avoid talking about the fact that he saw her crying...I was surprised that Shivaay backed down first to let her walk out...lol the previous Shivaay would never back down if his life depended on it😆...

The thing underscoring this scene and most of their scenes right now is a very powerful attraction...and this is way earlier in this story than it came to be in the original...there the attraction was there but it took time to manifest into these helpless prolonged staring sessions...here these two are at that stage since the moment they laid eyes on each other...so that makes me wonder what is being set up here...an attraction that is already so powerful is bound to bubble over into something big especially if both of them keep trying to tamp it down...they may do something in their helplessness and getting carried away unless insults continue to work as a deterrent...lol

Just yesterday NM was laughing in the PV IV about how everything in this show is on steroids...lol well this Redux seems to be even more on steroids than regular IB...already Daksh is back and instantly molesting Anika in the precap...it didn't even take a day...lol even the original Daksh took some epis to reveal his psychoticness fully...yeh day one se hi aisa hai...waah...

Then there's Daadi with NKK and a raaz this time...lol I found her thoughts on NKK quite realistically shown...she's wary cuz of a bad experience...this is how many elders talk and think anyways...remains to be seen if she evolves from that POV...she's polite to Anika but doesn't exactly trust her yet...

So things are churning...Anika doesn't really have any allies in OM other than Prinku who trusts her...there is already precedent for her to be judged as a gold digger who broke up a happy marriage since Daadi seems to think poor ppl lose it when they see a lot of money...and the fact that Shivika are quite helplessly and powerfully attracted to each other is gonna get noticed by more ppl sooner or later...where does this go then...whatever flashpoint is being envisioned, Shivika do need to get some more substantive interactions before getting to that point...attraction alone isn't gonna run the story.

Watching right now.

Be back in a bit

Edited:

With this Redux I find myself swinging between curiosity and annoyance depending on the day's episode with occasional moments of awe like the last Friday and Monday episodes. Today was more curiosity and less annoyance. I am curious about how they are going to progress this further.

I am not surprised at all the things Shivaay is hurling at Anika because his helpless attraction is really strong and instantaneous this time and therefore he is also going to fight it harder given his character sketch. The accusations are therefore getting more ridiculous and the prejudice is more irrational and more vehement because the helpless pull is like a burr under his skin. Of course the way they are going about staring and being lost in each other's eyes everyone is going to notice this pretty soon. I like the way NM-SC are doing these silent eye locks and the shifts in their expressions. Whenever he first sets eyes on her in the scene there is a very obvious look of how he is helplessly drawn to her and lost in that attraction and then there is a subtle silent shift in his eyes where he still can't look away but slowly hardens himself into fighting that pull.

Anika crying reminded me too of the same scene where she is sitting and crying alone after overhearing Shivaay talking to OmRu about Anika.
She was sitting in the same spot. That conversation ringing in her years was also what pushed her into accepting Daksh's proposal.

Daksh is an established creep from his opening scene from the looks of it. So it didn't take even one episode for him to get to that. I am sure thats going to lead more vile stuff coming our way by way of not only his actions but Shivaay's accusations. Not looking forward to that. Although much of the fandom seem to love Daksh for some obscure reason I always found him too creepy for my liking. I am hoping he isn't there for too long, just long enough to be a catalyst for Shivika.

This time there seem to be no Shivika shippers in OM unlike last time. Dadi is worried about history repeating itself with her Billu's shaadi given his father's history and OmRu are distant. So I am really curious about how the Shivika story is going to move forward. I am hoping that they have a thought out story to tell and aren't just winging it one scene at a time. Some days I wonder. Like I mentioned before I am having mood swings with the Redux on a daily basis.

Characters like chachi I just don't like and I am wondering what her role and purpose is in the story besides taunting Anika.

So far other than the half baked hospital scene Shivika have had no conversation. I am wondering how long they plan to go on with that.

I am curious enough to continue watching as long as they cut down the dukhiyari Anika melodrama like the kind they had yesterday which I fortunately haven't watched. That puts me off. If they tone that down then even with other things still being iffish I am far too invested in Shivika to give up.

I don't want them to take the cliched route. So far even in seemingly cliched situations IB has always been different and I am hoping (despite the foolishness of such hopes) that that pattern continues.

Going by the pattern so far Monday should be a good episode? Fingers crossed.

I got interrupted so many times that I am rambling. And now I am falling asleep while typing. So if it's not making any sense then you know why. 😛

With Daksh introduced into the story as Prinku's finance, it seems like the story might be a little similar to IPKKND. Daksh will go after Anika and Shivaay will misunderstand Anika and see her as a gold digger going after a rich man and in order to save his sister's marriage, he'll marry Anika just like Arnav married Khushi to keep her away from Shyam.
After the dismal ratings this week, I am hoping there will be some changes in Anika's characterisation. I want Anika to give it back to Shivaay like the previous Anika did.

LOL yes, Daksh being back as Prinku's fiance leching after Anika makes it obvious those parallels to IPK are there...but to what extent Harneet copies it exactly remains to be seen.

Mujhe abhi doubt hai seeing the SPEED with which Daksh is already in molestation mode and Anika already suspects him...the basic elements can be similar yeah cuz Daadi is very wary of gold diggers since apparently some gold digger broke up Shakti-Pinky...and Shivika are SO powerfully attracted to each other right now that invariably Anika ko hi accuse kiya jaayega of phasaaoing him...

But other things like Anika's powerful deja vu regarding Shivaay, things associated with him makes me wonder what part that element is supposed to play in the story.

Given how much ppl are expecting an exact IPK copy, it makes me wonder if HS won't go that exact route simply to spite ppl...she's capable of it😆...a forced wedding seems inevitable...the reason remains to be seen...despite all the obvious signs of predictability as of now...lol

As for Anika...and even Shivaay for that matter...they aren't shown to be thinking much beyond the fact that their attraction to each other unsettles them and they want to avoid each other...they aren't going out of their way to seek each other out to settle scores like the previous Shivika did...Shivaay clearly is prejudiced against her again but he isn't trying to crush her...yet...I suppose that may change if he feels that she is threatening Prinku's marriage.

But there is the added complication this time of Shivaay already marrying Tia so that Prinku can marry Daksh...lol that part wasn't there in IPK...

Shivika haven't even connected much yet for Daksh to incite the jealousy angle...lol it feels quite quick...also there is the matter of Nikhil in the mix...lol will he even matter now that Daksh is here as the tool for jealousy and MU?

If Shivika were shown to start talking to each other, having a substantial conversation of some sort, then some kind of equation could be built up...but as of now this is all running on silent stares, unsaid emotions...I'm not sure if that's the long term plan or things will shift in the coming days...right now it's like only Prinku is talking properly to Anika in the family...lol Shivaay shouts at her or ignores her...OmRu are aloof/polite...Daadi is also just polite...Anika is quite at the periphery of everything. The previous Anika was like the life of the party...jaan daal deti thi in every scene, every situation she was a part of. This one is so...nondescript almost...lol whatever screen presence she has is of cuz of SC's portrayal...otherwise there is nothing much in the characterization.

The conflict is weak. Before he assumed she leaked the chip, which resulted in Om's suicide attempt. His family's dirty secrets were on display, Daadi was humiliated, his aunt was hurt, and he almost lost his brother so I could rationalize his behavior then, but I'm mad you fed my sister dosa is ridiculously silly. Not to be rude, but I don't really care about the new Prinku. Yes, she is sweet, but she just showed up and I have no attachment to her 😆 I'm tired of Anika being insulted because of her.

Entire family is infected with Shivaay's NKK. Poor people are bad and can't be trusted...okay we get it. Let's move on.

Nothing going on in the story other than their attraction. It would have been interesting if they had done something completely different with the characters, but looks like another wasted opportunity.

I feel Nikhil was an unnecessary complication. And seeing that he was only in one episode and wasn't shown after that makes me think HS has forgotten about him.
The molestation scene was rushed too soon. I don't know whether it was decided that way or HS got scared seeing the ratings. They should have slowly moved into that angle.

Forced marriage seems like such a surety so it might just be that Tia is shown as sensible girl this time and like Lavanya from IPK, she breaks it off seeing that she and Shivaay aren't meant to be together.

Was precap molestation? 😕 Its a different house. Not OM. Anika went there. I guess to pick up dress from prinku's friends house. Daksh wahan kaise aaya? Why will he attack her there? I think its something else.

LOL yes, the conflict is weak...that was established in the Wed epi and the hospital scene only...my point is that it's weak cuz it's fully based on him being determined to be prejudiced against her, think the worst cuz of a very powerful attraction he's feeling towards her...this is pushback.

Agree about Prinku...she's just ok to me...there is nothing really there to be attached to...she's a plot device that moves the story forward since Anika is a relatively more passive character this time.

LOL in their eyes toh they feel they've done something different by flipping characters to 180...spunky Anika has been made more subdued and soft Anika...lol anti NKK Daadi is now pro NKK daadi...so just stuff like that is supposed to make this different 😆
