Through every generation of the human race there has been a constant war, a war with fear. Those who have the courage to conquer it are made free and those who are conquered by it are made to suffer until they have the courage to defeat it, or death takes them.

Alexander the Great

Bury my body and don't build any monument. Keep my hands out so the people know the one who won the world had nothing in hand when he died.

Alexander the Great

May God keep you away from the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger, and the revenge of the Afghans.

Every light is not the sun.

God grant me enough breathes, so that I can see the most beautiful woman in the World, my mother

I love being shot right into my feelings. I have only one single heart at my disposal anyways, take it gleefully, my lord 😭 It's even more poignant and heart wrenching when you know he died in Babylone, far far away from the woman of his life so his wish had never been fulfilled 🥺 To a demigod that had brought the biggest empires and forces of his time and the World at his feet, turned the impossible into possible, by the end of his life, even a wish as simple, genuine and pure as the one to cherish his mother's sight one last time, couldn't come true. Ironically tragic, it is ! Alexander's life alone can serve as muse to Racine, to make him acquire singlehandely the notoriety he gained for his famous tragedies all gathered.

Bury my body and don't build any monument. Keep my hands out so the people know the one who won the world had nothing in hand when he died.

This one is glorious and epic as well !

One question by the way. Why from these quotes, Alexander sounds so mesmerized and blown away by the Afghan people ? Was his military compaign in Afghanistan as spectacular as it was in Egypt ?

As Aunty said, you are indeed the most resourceful one here @Luckysnow 😛 Thanks a lot for sharing all these bribes with us 🤗

Cvs CVS should should have kept olympia away...no doubt ...

In Afghanistan for first time ever Alexander was fatally wounded...Cleitus wasn't there to help him...and because of their hatred for Roxana generals and soldiers were also not upbeat...his battles in Afghan were most difficult ones... 😕 Alexander was giving too much importance to her family...way too much infact...

Then Roxana miscarriages...her fault...she was the impetuous one according to arrian...she never listened to him and was always ridding her horse ...also it is the same place where actual romance began between the two...Sometimes I feel sad for her she was only 18 or something and had to face so much hatred..she couldn't have influenced Alexander ..like Greek writers say...also never forget impact of Aristotle on those writers.. Aristotle hated her

If Olympia was kept out of Alexander's periple in the show, in order for Alexander to showcase his immense love and affection for her during her absence by his side, whether it's by his voice over or letters than viewers would sympathize with him way too much through his deep maternal affection. So, no ! If they keep Olympia out of it, their GOOD vs EVIL plot won't make any sense. They have to paint Alexander's character as a dark and ruthless invader to the Indian audience 🥱

Completely agree, that keeping Olympia away would have made for far more poignant Alexander moments but would have humanized him even further which the CVs can't let happen. I had made peace with the fact that we'd no longer see Olympias/Sameksha after Macedonia, except maybe in flashbacks or commuting through letters with her son.

It is no secret how mad I was when they showed Olympias appear in Faras, and I had to rant here: http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4990681.

My favorite episode 99 of Alexander saying farewell to his mother in Macedonia, lost some of its preciousness because of that. I remained angry with the CVs for a few days because of that and still feel deprived.

As for the real Alexander ...

Isse badi badqismati kya ho sakti hai, ke saare jahaan ka badshaah, jiski qadmon mein sab kuch tha, jo dusron ke liye khuda ban gayaa tha, khud ki hi yeh khwaahish poori na kar saka, ke aakhri palon mein uss chehre ka deedar kare jo usse sabse azeez tha. Kitna bada gham hai yeh, ke iss afsos ke saath mara hoga Alexander.
