What is going on in the show?

I decided to watch Ishqbaaz after a long time and and surprising all three couples Anika-Shivaay, Rudra-Bhavya and Om-Gauri have separated. What have all three couples separated? Some misunderstanding or what.

No separation. Shivika had an altercation with a mentalist who believes that there is no such thing as love and everything is a matter of chance. And that if shivika hadn't met at that temple, they would not be together. Shivika didn't agree with his opinion so the mentalist placed a curse on them because of which an alternate universe was created where events are rewinded to before shivika met and this time they won't meet at the temple.

So basically the show has been revamped. Will the show ever return back to recent times with all three couples happily married or is the show in this alternate universe forever? This is an new kind of story never seen something like this on TV before.

As of now, its an alternate universe so I am guessing the new story will lead to a different journey altogether.

Yup, it is a concept new to Indian TV, just like the spin off concept.

In this story, Pinky and Shakti died when Shivaay was three years old. Dadi had raised Shivaay and Omru. No story has been revealed about Tej and Jhanvi yet so that remains to be seen

Thank you for explaining to me I was damn confused even after reading the written updates. There was that Shivika rain scene and then suddenly the story had gone somewhere else to Anika-Sahil and ShivOmRu and Dadi which became very confusing and I couldn't figure out what was going on. I thought there must be some sort of misunderstandings between the three couples which led to separation so went searching written updates to learn the root of these separations. When I still couldn't understand anything decided to ask on this forum.
