Shaurya quietly opened his eyes and looked up towards the dark sky and a smile swept his lips while the rain drops splashed on his face. "Stop crying..I'm ok now.'' Mehak lifted her head from his chest and looked at him. He had a smile on his face. "Dramebaaz!'' She punched him gently. "Ouch! That hurt yaar!'' Mehak stopped. "You must be really Happy now.'' Said mehak. "Never been happy like this in my entire life!'' He touched her wet cheeks and his thumb rubbed her juicy lips. Before things could get out of hand she got up at once. "You are bleeding...andar Chalo (come inside) I'll dress your wounds.'' She helped him to get up. "You scared me Shaurya ...I thought I lost you.'' She told him as they both got inside the house. "Sorry...I didn't have any other option to make you confess your love for me.'' Mehak closed the door and asked him to come upstairs. "Don't you ever do things like that again!'' Mehak warned him as they left towards the stairs. "I'll give you a towel to dry yourself then I'll go make some tea and bring ointment for your wounds.'' Saying That mehak entered her room,Shaurya followed behind her. "Is this your room?'' Asked Shaurya as he stepped inside. "Yeah..here take this and dry yourself ..I'll be back shortly.'' Handing him the towel,mehak came back downstairs to the kitchen. Her mother's words roamed her mind. "Stay within the boundaries,and do not cross your limits ..remember we are middle class family!'' She shrugged off her thoughts and gathered ingredients for the herbal tea. "I have confessed my feelings to him but he never said he loved me. I don't know if I did the right thing. Should I ask him if he loves me too or not?'' Her heart and mind was in conflict with each other. Sighing she poured the tea in a cup and grabbing a first aid kit she left towards her room. Outside,rain had slowed down a bit. Her eyes widened when she found Shaurya's wet jeans and shirt on the chair and him under her blanket fast asleep. "My God Yeh ladka kitna besharam hai!'' If Ma saw him half striped I would be dead!'' She blabbered. Placing the cup and the kit on the nightstand she sat on the bed beside him and slowly touched his forehead. "Shaurya...'' she said softly. He was burning with fever! "Now where did this fever come from!Abh main kya karu?'' (What should I do now?). "Shaurya...utho na (get up)and take something for the fever.'' She shook him gently. Shaurya had started to blabber in his dream as if he was having a nightmare. Mehak was trying hard to figure out what he was actually saying. "Bhai please don't do this! This is not the solution please! We'll find a way to bring her back! Bhai don't! I need you...don't do this!!! Bhaiii!!!'' Shaurya screamed and managed to wake up. He was sweating profusely. Mehak looked confusedly at him. He was wondering weather it was a dream or an actual incident. He took some time to realize where he was. His heart was pounding with all that adrenaline rush. He wanted to pacify himself with a glass of water, but all this has left him weak and trembling. His eyes fell on mehak who was sitting there terrified. "Did I scream..what did you hear?'' He asked. "Yes..you were having a nightmare...I heard about your brother and You were thrashing around like shark prey. "Sorry, he apologized, and sat up on the bed. She gave him a glass of water. He gulped everything down. "Do you wanna talk about it while I dress your wounds?'' Asked mehak. He took a deep breath and started talking. "This nightmare had plagued me for almost a year now or I can say since my brother committed suicide.'' Mehak looked surprised,she didn't know he had a brother who was no more. "My brother fell in love with this girl at work. Even the girl loved him. They were dating for a while and then decided to get married. Their marriage was fixed. All the rituals were done,my bhai was really happy and so were we. On the day of the marriage the girl eloped with someone else. She had lied and cheated on him,he was mislead,betrayed and deceived! My brother couldn't take it ...he came home and committed suicide. He died in front of my eyes mehak...I was crying and calling from outside the window for him to stop but he didn't listen.'' Tears rolled down his cheeks. "I lost my brother because of betrayal! And that too by a girl who claimed she loved him!'' Mehak had started to sob as well. She wiped his tears with the back of her fingers. "I'm so sorry Shaurya...'' suddenly he grabbed her wrist. "I love you mehak! Very very much! I fell in love with you the moment I saw you.'' Mehak's heart jumped to her throat and nervous excitement ran in her tummy. He had said what she wanted to hear. Flushed,she lowered her gaze. "Look at me mehak!'' He tilted her chin up and made her look in his dark eyes. "In few days my mom will be here with the marriage proposal to see your parents. We both love each other so why wait right? Let's get married,settle down..have kids and enjoy life! Bolo mehak...Shaadi karogi na mujhse?''(so tell me will you marry me?) Mehak felt shy and lowered her gaze again. The amusement on his face suddenly faded, his expression growing troubled. He studied her for several moments. Mehak felt as though those eyes could see right into her soul. She ran to the window. "If you don't answer me I'll walk to you half naked!'' He warned her. Mehak's eyes widened. "No please don't do that... !'' "Then tell me ..will you marry me?'' He asked. "Don't you think you are rushing things?'' She managed to ask. "I'm rushing things because I don't live in India! I live in London! And I don't have time to travel to India all the time. Hence I want us to get married and leave for London right away!'' Mehak felt a lump in her throat. "Ask my parents na.. ' Shaurya wrapped the sheet around his waist and walked towards her. "Mehak' His hand caught her shaking arm, and despite all the wind and chill and slush, a flash of heat shot through her. He spun her around and released her with a start, as though he too had been burned. "I'll ask your parents later but for now I need to know from you.'' Mehak stilled for a while. "So you not gonna say anything right? Fine then! I'm leaving!'' He grabbed his clothes and walked towards the door. Mehak ran and stood in front of the door blocking his way. "Please don't go...my answer is yes...I will marry you Shaurya.'' A smile crept on his lips and he touched her cheeks with the back of his fingers. Her skin prickled where he'd touched her, as if his gaze had sparked her flesh to life. "Thank you seorita!'' She cast him a brilliant smile and lowered her gaze. His long fingers curled over her shoulders, working their artist's magic, sending tendrils of bright-colored feeling streaming into her, as if he could flick his brush and make her handsomer than God had made her. She tried to swallow against a sudden dryness. Both had fallen for each other. Hard. Her lips glistened and the vein in her neck throbbed. With a low voice, he asked, "Can I seal this agreement with a kiss? Her eyes widened and her lips quivered. The room seemed to grow hotter as the intensity of his gaze held her fast. "I'll take that as a yes!'' He lowered his lips to hers in a feather-light kiss. She gasped at the intimacy of it. His tongue parted her trembling lips and began to explore. It was their first kiss. A secret made known. She melted to the kiss instantly and opened her mouth wider. Their tongues entwined in a wet, rhythmic dance. This is magic, she thought. And she wanted it to last forever. With a groan, he pulled her body hard against him. The kiss grew wild, hungry. His hands roamed over her hips. He squeezed her buttocks. His pelvis pushed against her in a primitive caress that sent shivers through her entire frame. This was passion. This was life. This was- He wrenched himself from her arms and backed away. Flushed mehak looked at him bewildered. His expression changed suddenly and he pulled her on him. She collided with his bare chest with a whimper. Time stopped. She could see his pupils dilate, and She knew he heard the way her breath stopped and caught in her chest. Her lips parted in anticipation, and she knew there was no turning back even if she wanted to. Not now and maybe not ever. There was something in his eyes that was dark and dangerous. Suddenly he spoke. "You know mehak I hate the word "lies'' and betrayal, he murmured darkly. "Because of that I lost my only brother. I don't expect lies and betrayal from you..so Tell me mehak that you will never deceive me or betray me no matter what the circumstances.'' Mehak gulped to moisten her throat that went dry on her. Shaurya continued. "I started to trust you mehak! I know you'll never break my heart. Trust, once lost, could not be easily found. Not in a year, perhaps not even in a lifetime and you know what? Stab the body and it heals, but injure the heart and the wound will lasts a lifetime.'' Mehak had tears in her eyes. "I promise I'll never betray you or break your heart ..I'll love you till my last breath Shaurya.'' Shaurya sighed in relief. "Good! We'll make a perfect couple then.'' His lips found her throat again, a shimmer of pure pleasure tingled down her spine. Then one of his hands inched down to her bosom. If she didn't stop now, She wasn't sure if She ever could because that felt too good. "Shaurya, She whispered into his hair. "We have to stop. "Hmm Hmm!, he groaned and nuzzled himself into her ear, nibbling at the tender lobe. "Shaurya, I can't do this. She cupped his hand in hers and guided it away from the softness he was rubbing between his fingers. His eyes flashed in the dark. "What's wrong?Pulling her torso away from his, She wrapped her arms around her waist in a self-protective move. "I'm uhI'm a.. I mean we are not married yet and Shaadi se pahle Yeh Sab nai.(we can't do this before marriage) There was a strange look that crossed his face. One She didn't recognize at all, and he stood silent. Staring at her deeply. "Saving it for our first night?'' Immediately Mehak felt embarrassed. Heat rose to her cheeks as she blushed. Shaurya laughed. "Go change your clothes,it's wet and clinging to your skin and I can basically see everything even in this dim light.'' Mehak looked herself in the mirror and he was right! Her briefs were widely visible! She hugged herself and ran towards the washroom. "I'll sleep on the sofa downstairs! You can have your bed.'' Mehak heard him from inside. She saw her swollen lips in the mirror and the bruises on her cheeks from his kisses and rough stubbles. Recalling the kiss she covered her face with her palm. After getting into dry clothes,mehak came downstairs to find Shaurya sleeping on the sofa. "Suno,have this tea and meds you'll feel better in the morning. As soon as he saw her a smile crept on his lips which turned her crimson with shyness. She helped him to sit up. "Go sleep,I'll have this and lie down.'' He told her. Mehak nodded in no. "When you sleep then I'll go.'' Shaurya drank his tea and tried to sleep. Mehak sat there watching him sleep,gradually her eyes dropped close as well and she fell asleep on his feet.
Next morning when mehak woke up,she found herself in her bed. Recalling everything about last night she hurried downstairs to check on Shaurya but he was gone. She checked her phone for messages and there it was! His messages. "Good morning sleepyhead! You were sleeping like a baby that's why I couldn't wake you up. I carried you to your room and left. Mom is coming today,be ready I'll see you soon! Love you...'' Mehak smiled reading the messages and hugged the phone to her chest. Few hours later,Maahi came home feeling sick. Mehak broke the news to her. "Wow! That's great news! Must say you are very lucky mehak.'' Mehak smiled and thanked her Di. Later,Mehak's parents showed up. "I will not tell them anything just yet..I'll wait for Shaurya and his family to come with the proposal.'' Thought mehak. Next day Shaurya showed up at her doorstep with his mom. Sharma's were surprised except mehak. She hid herself in the kitchen while the elders had their chit chat. Sunita spoke to mehak regarding the proposal. Mehak wanted to go ahead with the marriage so sharma's accepted the marriage proposal. "Can I now see my to be daughter in law?'' Asked Karuna ma. Before sunita could call for mehak,both sisters were standing there with tea and snack in their hands. Karuna's eyes widened when she saw the twin sisters. "Which is which?'' She Asked Shaurya. With a sheepish smile he got up and stood beside mehak. "This is my mehak.'' Mehak looked at him and blushed. "Your daughter in law has amber eyes mom.'' Karuna stood up and opened her arms for mehak. "Ajaao bacchey.'' Mehak placed the tray on the coffee table and touched Karuna's feet. Karuna blessed her. Looking at Shaurya,Karuna said. "She's beautiful! A perfect match for you shaury.'' Shaurya felt really proud. "She's the only match and the only choice for me Mom.'' Mehak was so shy,she excused herself and hurried towards the kitchen. "Oh I forgot to give her this!'' Karuna took out gold bangles from her bag. "Can I?'' Asked Shaurya. Karuna nodded,Shaurya took the bangles from her hand and left towards the kitchen. Elders fixed the dates for the rituals and the wedding. "Shaurya is in India for couple of months,wedding should take place within the time frame.'' Said Karuna. The sharma's agreed.
"Mehak!'' Shaurya entered the kitchen looking for his lady love. "She's in her little paradise.'' Maahi told him. "Little paradise?'' Asked Shaurya looking confused. "There's a room upstairs called Mehak's little paradise,you'll find her there.'' Shaurya hurried upstairs in search of the room. He sighed in relief when he found the room. Softly and gently he opened the door and stepped inside and stopped in his tracks. The room was full with paintings of him. He froze at the beautiful sight. In the middle of the tiny room,stood mehak with a paint brush in her hand. She was painting something. Getting a closer look Shaurya saw it was his painting from the night when he fell asleep in Mehak's bed. "How can she paint so much of me?'' He thought. Mehak felt his presence and twitched her head to see. "Hi..Maahi said I'll find you here...'' he muttered. "Sorry I had to finish this that's why I had to come here.'' Shaurya was moved by the paintings. He slowly approached her. "How can you paint so much of me..'' Mehak gave him her beautiful smile ever. "Because I love you! I have been making these paintings of yours since I was 15.'' "But this painting thing is not in your diary.'' Questioned Shaurya. "Because I kept it a secret but now you know.'' Saying that she started painting again. "You paint really well!'' He praised her. "Thank you!'' She smiled coyly. Shaurya noticed paint had spread on her face. He wiped it off with his hand. "You could sell these paintings and earn a fortune.'' He told her. "I will...but not these ones. These are for me because you are in it.'' Shaurya loved to hear that. He tucked her hair strands behind her ears. "Put that brush away I have something for you.'' Mehak was putting away the brush when her feet lost footing and she almost fell but two strong arms caught her on time. They bumped into the table containing colourful paints that went flying and fell on them. "Are you okay? Shaurya asked. His voice was so brisk, so hardened, She faltered, going back a step before regaining her balance. "I'm ok..i ruined your shirt.'' She tried to come out of his arms but he reached out and grabbed her arm again, pulling her toward his hard chest. "You didn't,the paint did.'' Her entire body radiated with desire when her softness rubbed his chest. Anticipation. Heat. Only he could make her feel this alive. They were close and the scent of her perfume surrounded him,some type of exotic orange spice. Her lashes thick and dark shut and opened. Her lips were pursed with a furious focus, painted the color of pale apple. He was hypnotized. He wanted to kiss her right there and then. She kinda felt what was coming. "Shaurya don't! Anyone can walk in here at any time..'' she protested. "I don't care!'' Shaurya lowered his head until their noses were brushing against each other. She still hadn't blinked. "Shaurya please.. ' His hands cupped her face softly and she sighed, her breath blowing across his skin. But when her hands twisted into his T-shirt, he was lost. Her lips were soft and pliant when their mouths met, and she parted them with a soft moan that went straight to his core. He kissed her until he was satisfied and she was out of air. Red and flushed she lowered her gaze. "Miss sharma,can you capture this moment in your painting?'' He asked. "I will once you marry me and take me to your home.'' Shaurya smiled and drew out bangles from his pocket. "Mom has sent this for you..it's her blessing,wear it.'' "Wow Shaurya! These are nice!'' Delighted,She outstretched her arms for him to slide the bangles in. Shaurya happily slid the bangles on her wrist one by one. Mehak showed him her wrist when he was done. "It's nice!'' He said and pulled her in his arms and both hugged each other tight.
Their love story began. It bloomed and flourished within a month. They were so much in love. He picked her up for lunch or dinner and they would go out on dates. Everything was so beautiful. They were at a point where breathing without each other was impossible. Shaurya and mehak did their wedding shopping alone. He bought her everything for the wedding. Both were very excited for the ceremony. Wedding rituals started. Shaurya had wanted a small wedding with just family members and the sharma's had agreed. Sangeet and mehndi was done. It was her haldi ceremony. Suddenly Maahi ran to the washroom and threw up. When applying the haldi paste on mehak she lost consciousness. "Di!!!'' Mehak screamed. Later a doctor arrived to examine her. "Your daughter is pregnant. Bring her to the clinic for further test.'' Saying that the doctor left. Mehak's eyes widened in disbelief while the her parents froze in shock. "We can't even show our face in the society...what will the khanna's think?'' Rubbing his chest Ramesh sat down with a thud. Sunita slapped Maahi. "You have brought dishonour and shame to the family! We will have to answer the society ..they might kick us out! We will lose our job...where will we go from here tell me!'' Sunita was boiling hot with anger. "Mom please calm down I will talk to Di.'' Said mehak. Mehak brought Maahi in the corner. "Where's is he Di? I will slap him and bring him here.'' Maahi broke into tears. "He left India mehak...he doesn't want to do anything with me or the baby...I don't know what to do..I will just abort the baby...'' cried Maahi. "No no di! Don't even think about it! I will talk to Shaurya..he will find a way to reach your psycho boyfriend.'' "He will find a way by breaking up with you mehak! Please don't involve Shaurya and his family in this.'' Pleaded Maahi. "Than what shall we do Di? Asked mehak. "There's only one way...let me marry Shaurya..'' Mehak felt like the floor being swept away from under her feet. "No way Di! I can't do that! Shaurya is mine! We love each other ..I can't imagine my life without him!'' Tears formed in Mehak's eyes. "And don't forget he knows me very well,the colour of my eyes ..he will easily recognize you Di...'' sobbed mehak. "Please beta..do as your Di says..for us for the family?'' Her parents were standing there with their hands joined together in plea. "I can't papa! I promised Shaurya I will never betray him! He will kill me mom!'' Mehak tried to explain to her parents. "Here! I have contact lenses made in Amber..Shaurya will never find out my true identity.'' Maahi showed her the lenses she had made long time ago. Mehak's world was spinning around her. "Mehak beta,save us from the disgrace your sister put us through..I beg you!'' Cried her mom. "I can't deceive him mom...I love him!'' Mehak looked at his name on her palm. "I cant live without him ...he's my everything...'' Wept mehak. "I will marry you mehak and take you away from here!'' Everyone turned to the owner of the voice. There stood Mehak's college friend Sahil! "I called him..'' Said sunita. "Get married in a nearby temple and leave with him before Shaurya gets here.'' Added her dad. Mehak went numb. Her world was coming down on her. She felt sick to the stomach. "Fine then! I know exactly what to do!'' Said Maahi. She ran and locked herself in a room. Her parents ran after her. "Maahi stop! Open the door! Please don't do anything silly ..Maahi!!'' Cried sunita while Ramesh banged on the door. Mehak ran outside and saw her from the glass window. Maahi was tying a rope around her neck to commit suicide. "Di stop please don't do this! I can't lose you Di! Theek hai...you can have Shaurya..I'll leave with Sahil.'' With a bleeding heart she told her. Maahi stopped at once and opened the door. Mehak came inside the house like a lifeless body who was just breathing. Maahi came and hugged her. "Thanks mehak! I will make sure Shaurya never finds out. Now pack your bag and leave with Sahil and get married,if Shaurya finds you are married he won't do anything but accept the fact .'' Next morning before dawn,mehak bid good bye to her family and left with Sahil. "We'll go to the temple and get married first.'' Sahil told her on the way. Mehak was broken and felt guilty of what she had done to Shaurya. "Please Shaurya forgive me..I hope you never find out the truth and live happily with Maahi Di. I will always love you.. ' she said in her heart.
At sharma's residence,Shaurya arrived with his family for the wedding. He felt something was fishy right away. Rituals were done. Bride was called while Shaurya waited for his bride. After jay mala,bride and groom sat by the Agni. Pandit started his mantras. Shaurya was getting weird feeling about the wedding. He gently grabbed Maahi's hand and kept it in his hand. He knew right there and then that She wasn't his mehak! Suddenly he stood up and told her to get up. Maahi was trembling inside her veil. Sharma's looked terrified knowing that the truth will be out soon. "Pandit ji,stop your mantras!'' His voice was hard. Turning to the bride he said,'' Remove your veil and show me your face! Do it now!'' With Shaking hands Maahi removed her veil. "What's wrong beta?'' Asked Karuna ma. "You'll soon find out mom.'' "Look into my eyes!'' He ordered. Maahi couldn't lift her head,Shaurya lifted it up and forcefully made her look into his dark eyes. "You are not my mehak! Remove your lenses it looks fake! I know how my Mehak's eyes are!'' I'm calling off this wedding! Everybody go home!'' The guests left mumbling. Shaurya grabbed Ramesh's neck. "Bloody hell! Where is mehak? And why is Maahi sitting in place of mehak?'' Sunita came running to her husbands rescue. "Please leave him Shaurya...I'll tell you everything.'' Maahi escaped from there. Sunita narrated everything to Shaurya and family. But she never told him about Sahil and Mehak's wedding in the temple. Shaurya left Ramesh and fumed with anger. He kicked some chairs and turned the tables upside down. "Itna bada dhoka! How could she? She wanted me to marry her pregnant sister and take responsibility of the child who wasn't even mine! How could she deceive me like this? Her love for me was a lie! Everything was a lie! I hate you miss sharma! You did exactly what my brothers fiance did! I will not forgive you mehak!'' He roared in anger. He called his lawyers and his private detectives. In no time they were there at his service. "Trace Mehak's phone and find her now! Get moving!'' He commanded his guards. Turning to his lawyer he asked.Are the papers ready?'' The lawyer nodded his head in yes. "Good! Get me my charter plane! I'm taking mehak to London!'' "We are on it sir!'' His guards said. "Sir,we are successful in tracing Mehak's phone. She's not very far from here. GPS has tracked her down.'' One of the detectives told him. "Excellent! Take me to her. Nobody moves from here until I come!'' He warned sunita and Ramesh.
At the temple,mehak was sitting quietly beside Sahil. Pandit was about to start his mantras when Shaurya and his team invaded the place. Mehak stood up when she saw Shaurya standing there with two hard fists and eyes burning like fiery furnace. "Shaurya...'' She uttered. "So this is your true colour! In love with me but eloping and marrying someone else! Bloody liar!'' You will pay for this Mehak sharma! In my style! The way I want! Handcuff her!'' He ordered. Sahil tried to intervene but unfortunately Shaurya's hard punch made him taste the floor of the temple. "Shaurya please I can explain everything...just listen to me once...'' cried mehak. "I don't need explanation from anybody! Get her in the car!'' After handcuffing her they got her in the car. Shaurya sat beside her. Mehak tried to speak but Shaurya placed his finger on her lips. "I'll shoot you if you don't shut your mouth!'' For the first time mehak was seeing a beast in him,a deadly one. She shivered with fear.
