Look let's face it. If all of us are congregated here on this forum and have adopted this show and most of us have in fact been unable to watch anything else ever since we have been truly smitten by YPNTKH. many of us watched other shows but this has made viewing those shows pointless. Would you be really able to watch a Naagin or an Ishq me marjawan or a Shanti devi hospital (I am not even sure of the names) or that most regressive serial that has started recently on colors set in Rajasthan yes Roop something something or a Tu aashiqui or anything like these?? Serials where people are on a killing spree getting away scotfree, two women who are such lookalikes that they have the same pimple at the same place 😆, dead people who have been cremated who are actually not dead, naagins taking revenge, a man who keeps hitting his wife or keeps punishing her in the cruelest manner possible (mind you I do not watch any of these, this is all just while channel surfing)? Would you settle for garish sets, OTT dialogues and scenes, having to leave one's brain behind before watching something, settling into the willful suspension of disbelief mode? Even when it comes to comedy I would not go for slapstick unless it is by a Master such as Charlie Chaplin who brings in layers even to slapstick, I would much rather go for a Jaane bhi do yaaron or Waisa bhi hota hai which are situational comedies or for black humour aplenty in French cinema.

So the truth is we are different from the mainstream. We are not here by chance, we are here because we like to think, we do not want to accept nonsense and tripe, realism appeals to us, relatable appeals to us, no OTT drama appeals to us, simple and dignified storytelling appeals to us, we never wished for such a powerful actor and character such as Prabhakar to come back from the dead, we just hoped that he would not die whereas viewers of Tu aashiqui must have been super delighted that the evil JD came back from the dead!!

See therein lies the difference.

However since we have been fed on a staple diet of willful suspension of disbelief and easy romance and simple serials which deal with just one central theme (starcrossed lovers or revenge drama or women's empowerment, and so on and so forth), we get upset when we don't get our Sidhushka dose or when the going gets too serious and ominous for our liking. What I am trying to say is that deep down we are rational, thinking people and we want a rational, thinking show but viscerally we have been exposed to so much of formula nonsense that we crave for it as well. We want both packaged in a realistic way.

The sad truth is YPNTKH is not packaged that way. It doesn't like to compromise on its principles and does not want to cater to our dichotomies. The script was supposedly written even before the shooting began (sometimes I doubt it and feel that they do try to bow down to our wishes😆).

Look the ride has been beautiful so far and the makers have not let us down and there is no going back for us because we cannot any more settle for second or third or fourth best. Right?

In fact the show has set the bar so high that many of us including me were so disappointed with Thursday's episode because it was not tight enough!! Would we ever complain if we were watching mindless crap??

So sorry for the long post and all this rambling. My point is I guess we have to rise above our dichotomies and learn to accept our choice and respect it and trust the makers blindly. We know for a fact that they won't give us crap.

Many times we behave like those husbands who go for a woman because she is different, strong, independent, unlike most other women but these very traits become problematic for them because of these very dichotomies.

I guess I am saying all this in defense of the show. So even if KK it is (the extreme scenario) I guess we just have to take it in our stride with the belief that the makers must have planned a realistic denouement to the story.

Of course we are human and will complain, will be elated, depressed and so on and so forth but we should keep this perspective in mind in those tough times.

I am planning to. Let's see how long my resolve will last!! 😆

Hi Padmajaan,
I feel the choices that we make are governed by our experiences, education, beliefs, environment and the accesibility! It is a matter of perspective! While the serials / shows you mentioned may not have the neccessary fodder to attract you, an average housewife somewhere in a small city in India, who has limited means for fancy clothes/jewellery etc., maybe restricted to doing only household chores, have only one TV , no internet or may not know how to use a computer even, may find solace in such shows!
The OTT sets, fancy sarees , fantasy- naagin ka badla may appeal to this person because 30 minutes may offer that escapism!
Having said that the responsibility lies with the makers as to what message they are trying to give through this shows! The actors and technicians working in these shows or YPNTKH for that matter are working equally hard or so I would like to believe! That is why, I try not to judge such shows/ or people who watch or make them! To each its own!
As an audience we have the power to change the channels, if we do not like a show!

Expectations- Attachment and detachment
Coming to YPNTKH, I personally found nothing wrong with the Thursday episode! Friday was good too! But I am different 😆. The narrative of YPNTKH is not linear and comes with unexpected twists and turns! Sidushka ke birah mein bhi mujhe romance dikhta hai! Neeta and Sid scene was so unexpected! Somebody is spying on Sidhant. Sweetiji and his detective skills. So many things happened on Thursday! Foundation is laid for Sidushka to come together! Precap for Thursday- Sidhant ko bell milne wali hai wapas , yeh toh maine predict kiya tha, lekin the way the it went back to him was a huge and a pleasant surprise! I had expected a confrontation scene, but the way they treated it was simply beautiful! He sees the bell in his cabin, gets stumped, walks straight, examines the bell, recalls Anushka's talk about personal and professional mix, walks- stumbles, the bell falls near her feet. She tells him, that , the bell was not returned for him to throw here and there, rather keep it with him! She further adds that she will return each and everything that reminds her of him! Sid is hurt, keeps a straight face! In the house, Sid rings the bell , expects a response , does not get one, places the bell back in the Sandook!
The love story is going to find its path through the air line crash, murder mystery and Sid Is in for a surprise and so r we from Anushka!!!

Jaane bhi do Yaron is also one of my favorite movies! ❤️

KK- all indications for Sidhant to believe that he is the mastermind! Sidhant will surprise us undoubtedly!

The art of detachment while we are attached is an important Bhagvad Geeta principle ! Like ur beautiful profile picture- lotus, one has to strive to live a life like a lotus! Even though it grows in muddy environment, its leaves, its beauty is untouched by the dirt! As Prabhakar said, the path is more important than destination! It's not necessary to intellectualize all the time, its important to enjoy the process as well!
Same goes with the show as well! One will then be able to see a connect in a disconnect, if there is any!

Sorry if the post comes across preachy. This
was the best way , I could explain my perspective!

Have a wonderful week ahead!

No not preachy at all Veda. In true Veda style and I adore it as you very well know.

In fact I was being preachy. Didn't want us all to freak out so much.

I do agree with you Veda, I was not trying to put down anyone or anyone's choice. My intent was not to do that but rather make us assume and own responsibility for the choice we have made that's all.
I am sorry if I have given a wrong message.

You are so right. For most people catharsis is what they are looking for and I totally understand that and empathize with that.

Thanks for your inputs. Very precious ones.

And thanks for the note on the lotus. That's why I like my name because I was named after the lotus on which Goddess Saraswati resides as I was born on Saraswati puja day immediately after the puja.
