Is Naina Jealous of Sameer's victory?

Is Naina jealous on Sameer's victory. My answer is NO. She was sad that she was not able to get that title. Because in her mind she associated Fresher's title to their marriage. Already Naina and Preethi got ultimatum from their tauji to be married off if they do anything wrong against family beliefs. And Naina very well know how much her family is against love marriages. So when she didn't win the title she thought it as God's sign that there will be problems in their marriage and in worst case may not even happen. We all know how much Naina believes in these kind of signs. The problems can be anything from financial difference between the two families to the petty issue between Pooja and Bittu. This doesn't mean that she don't trust Sameer or his love towards her. But at that moment when she heard the result she got lost.

When her friends brought the winner's sash it was really surprising for her and when she saw her love, her Sameer standing there at door with the trophy, she started getting the courage. She started believing that whatever it may happen in future she and Sameer will be able to overcome it with the help of these friends. This brought the smile back on her face.

Now we may think why she needs to feel insecure like that. She is confident at school then what happened when she came to college. She is always confident about her studies and when it comes to relations she is insecure. For any person, we feel secure when we have a loving mother and a caring father at home. She doesn't have both. If she is not having such a supportive Chacha then she may not be studying at all and may have become someone's wife already. That insecurity is throughout there in her life and it is not that easy to come out of it. That was clearly shown when there was a quarrel between Rakesh and Bela regarding Naina's bicycle. If Chachaji was not taking a position against his own wife then that may be the end of Naina's life. This insecurity will go away only after her marriage with Sameer. Then Sameer can take a stand against her father if he misbehaves. She knows very well that she can be herself with Sameer and unlike her father Sameer will never bring his ego in between she and her happiness. Actually she trusts Sameer more than her own father.

For today's generation, it may be bit difficult to understand why girls are not allowed to take a stand for themselves. Even Ashi was not able to understand that situation of Naina. But it is a fact. Girls of my generation were not allowed to say anything against elders. Now only I am getting some courage to talk bit harsh and strict to my father when he refuses to take care of his health.

So be patient with the progression of story. Most of the situations that they are showing regarding people's mentality is real only.

Wishing all of you a very happy weekend.

Completely agree..I don't feel naina is being shown week...a persons who faces such harsh remarks regarding her looks would have ny now starting thinking maybe she is not worthy sameer...but no till date she has not got the feel that she is not worthy him...but still she omwsngs assurance that they will stay together no matter what...not because their love will fade away..but as you rightly said..alot of other aspects...
They still have a long way and their biggest battle is still to fought...fighting for their love to be accepted 😳

Beautiful Post Seema. I am from 90s but I could voice out opinion on many matters as thats how my family environment was. They have cleverly showed 90s and Marwari family which makes Naina's position real in terms of not able to voice out her opinion. On top that she doesnt have her family and her father is also not respected. If Naina has become what she has become today due to her journey with Sameer then we should wait how she has become the way she comes across from VO.. Journey needs to be taken step by step and cherished..

Beautifully explained post Seema.
You said some issues which even I did not ponder over.

Naina's insecurity comes from all the issues you raised above.
She believes in superstitions which always comes true for her. So, she was afraid and heartbroken to see Sunaina win the sash.

But Sameer did not ler her drown into that sadness. He instantly took steps to be by her side. Which was much needed at that moment.

So all said by you in your post.

I have nothing more to add.

Thanks for the reply dear.
Naina is not weak at all. If it for Sameer then she is ready to go to any extend for that. She got that much faith in him and his love. But when it comes to her family she don't have any strength to oppose their decision. So same fear will be there regarding their marriage also. Incase if her family go against their relation then how will she make them agree. So this fresher's title was just a sign for her on how easy their future will be. But sameer's and her friends gesture assured her that she is not alone if she had to fight for their love.

I think the restrictions in expressing our opinions to elders were there across almost all society. I am from Kerala and I must say Naina and Preethi are enjoying much more freedom than me at that time. I was also doing first year B.Sc on June 1992. If we talk to a boy outside college then we will be receiving stares from passerby. By mistake if anyone of them is someone who knows us then they news will reach home even before we reaches back. Then it will be the recreation of scene created by Taiji after finding Naina running on the road with a backless blouse.

Thanks for your reply Laizu.
I think the entire objective of this Fresher's program is just to reassure Sameer's love to Naina. Even though they were physically separated for one and a half year and of which last 6 months there were little or no communication from Sameer his love to her is still strong as earlier. Still he can go to any extend to get that sweet smile on her face. And she is not alone to face any issues coming up on their life.

Very nicely articulated!! This show is doing justice to the way people behaved in 90s. It may be difficult for a lot to understand specially for new generation. Remarks on looks of a girl was very very common those days that most of the girls were so use to it that these remarks didn't even affect them so much. But that was also the reason for their insecurities.

Thank you for such a beautiful write up. Hope to read more in future. I totally agree with the way things are being shown in the serial
90's was an era when a girl's beauty was mainly judged by her complexion and superficial looks. Things haven't changed much in hat way but still it is way better than that time in that respect.

Yes you are right. Not only these remarks gave insecurity but lack of confidence also and it is very difficult to come out of that mental state.
