Everyone connects to a show. Whether it's sci-fi, romance, comedy or thriller. There's always a show one just ends up connecting to. 'Naamkarann' was that show for me.
I never had any interest in any Indian show until I came to know about 'Naamkarann'. I distinctly remember the day I was skimming through the channels and it landed on the Masquerade promo. Before moving on, I just want to say that promo is unbeatable!
Since then, I started watching 'Naamkarann' and I became an ardent fan. I was all for the concepts and social issues that were shown and discussed through the characters. It's highly commendable to see a show that stuck and did justice to the tagline of the channel that it was broadcasted on.
"Nayi Soch."
Whether it'd be targeting an issue regarding illegitimacy, teen pregnancy, or even life of a single mother, Naamkarann has definitely raised a sense of awareness amongst the people. It's a show that has helped challenge society's orthodox thinking, their misogynistic views and more! As an international viewer, it's quite saddening to see that your view doesn't amount to the TRPs. However, I'm happy that it atleast made a difference to the digital TRPs. (If that's what you call them.)
The show did have an abrupt ending. I wish we could've seen Avni and Neil explore their lives together more. Even a month more would've sufficed. It's a shame that the channel and PH decided to end the story there. I really wanted to see more of them as they're such characters that don't believe in superiority or minority. It's all about equality of the sexes, and it's so rare to see a show or actors taking the risk of displaying that on the big screen, considering the norms of society, thus, it's quite applauding for 'Naamkarann' and its cast to do just that and more! I'll definitely miss seeing Aditi and Zain at 21:00! I'll miss seeing the other characters too, because despite their roles, they all contribute to the essence of 'Naamkarann'. I'll also miss the offscreen mischiefs, especially, Aditi, Zain and their sessions of their infamous laughters! I hope to see them on my screen sometime soon!
Quick mention about the masquerade promo. Whether anyone agrees or not, I simply do not care when I say that Naamkarann's Masquerade promo starring Aditi Rathore and Zain Imam is the best promo to grace Indian Television TILL DATE, and I doubt that there'll be a promo in the future that'll manage to beat it! The music, the concept, the editing, the dialogues, the costume, the imagery... everything has been carved by the Lord himself! Anyone who slanders that promo shall not prosper!
Lastly, I would like to admit that, undoubtedly, the journey of 'Naamkarann', 'AvNeil' and 'AdiZa' was indeed more beautiful than the destination.
