Meet Indian TV's first 'bikini' girl

Itishree Singh, who plays Shilpa in Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na, became the first actress to wear a bikini on Indian television. She was initially very reluctant but ended up giving the shot.

She says, "The unit members managed to convince me. I told them that I am not comfortable with the idea but they said it was the requirement of the scene. They gave me shorts to wear which made me feel more confident. In the past too I have refused when told to do so. But those scenes required me to expose a lot more which was a strict no-no for me."

This girl from Kota, Rajasthan admits that she was worried about her family's reaction. "I told my mother to make sure that my father does not see that scene but they recorded and saw it. I was nervous when she told me this but he was very cool after watching the scene," says the actress.

She adds that she is getting good responses for the scene. "People call and compliment me saying I have done the scene nicely and that they want my poster so it feels good."

In the show, Itishree plays a very ambitious, middle class girl Shilpa. "The character has different shades. She wants to make her own career in her own way," she informs.

Itishree is playing a contrasting character in her other show Veeranwali. "I play a typical Punjabi girl Payal who always wears Punjabi suits. It is not easy to portray two completely different characters. Everyday I have to change my make up and look for both the shows," she explains.

Itishree was also seen Im Betiyan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan, in which she played Koyal. She has also done a film Hum Tumse Juda Hoke.
