Today, I want to post a special note for the character that's taken us through quite a rollercoaster ride in this show...THE Pinky Singh Oberoi of "Oh My Maata" fame😆

When I first chanced upon Pinky while watching IB, I dismissed her as another stereotypical caricaturish supporting character in a Gul show...she came with readymade catch phrases and already seemed to show a tendency towards being grey or vampish in a loud fashion. Little was I to know how my opinion would evolve over time and how I would discover an actress that made me such a big fan of her sheer talent👏👏

Pinky on the surface is a very easy character to caricaturize and reduce to stereotypes...what elevates her to a LARGE extent is the MAMMOTH talent of Nitika Anand Mukherjee👏👏...and boy has she blown me away over the course of this show over and over again.

First we discovered the surprisingly cute Pinky, who, despite being loud, self-absorbed and generally obsessed with her son and a possibly rich bahu, had the capacity to give such warmth to a girl who was "merely" an employee at that time in her life...then we discovered the SUPER insecure Pinky...who when challenged or threatened can become almost evil incarnate...that was a very difficult phase to watch Pinky in...many of us are traumatized by her three finger salute days...lol but even then, I have to mention scenes where I was blown away by NA's ability to show a supremely insecure and bitter woman in a humanizing way...I remember in particular the scene when she revealed to Anika that she only brought a fake mother in to slander her...the way Pinky explained her POV in that scene both horrifies you and makes you weirdly understand her too.

After this, came the Pinky who lost favor with her son after having fallen to terrible depths of heinousness in her insecurity and hatred of Anika...what a mighty fall that day was...and I want to again make particular note of that day, that scene for some EPIC acting from NA...she literally PWNED everyone in that scene almost effortlessly...it's hard to focus on anyone else seeing the sheer LAYERING she yet again brought to Pinky...defiant, unrepentant, even in defeat...till the very end just begging for her son's affection and needing him to understand her no matter how wrong she is...what a scene and what a performance.

Then came the Pinky who finally experienced remorse, who finally learnt to show REGRET for her actions...many of us had given up hoping for this Pinky...but miraculously Pinky got her moment of redemption...complete redemption in a very fitting way...she paid her penance, lived through purgatory with Shivaay freezing her out and finally managing to realize how much she wronged Anika...the reason I feel the need to list all of this out again is NA's brilliant ability to navigate all this SO wonderfully...we'd get all these barely 1-2 minute scenes in passing of her reactions sometimes and she'd pour so much layer and meaning to those too...never letting that connection with Pinky falter, only leaving me in awe at her ability to portray emotions of all color.

All this finally culminated today in a beautiful scene where Pinky truly came full circle...today Pinky faced some of her most bitter and worst impulses and managed to NOT succumb to them like she usually does...today all the same thoughts came in her head..."Shivaay badal gaya, Shivaay mujhe bhool gaya"...but instead of blaming Anika or outside influences as she usually did, she was simply upset over not getting attention from Shivaay...her naaraazgi ka HAQ was with Shivaay only...lol instead of blaming others...

What really stood out to me today was Pinky's ability to make even a thing like insecurity look SO cute...lol like she was literally ADORABLE today pouting and sulking as she thought Shivaay forgot her b'day despite all her attempts to remind him, complaining to Daadi and then deciding to confront Shivaay, jamaaoing her Maa wala haq today...this is a very universal theme...the pangs of insecurity a mother can feel if she feels neglected by her child...but kudos to the writing today for managing to show all the typical Pinky traits without regressing her...managing to show the evolution in her that's managed to be lasting...transformative and that is a solid nuanced piece of writing. Even though the scene was pitched as Shivaay balancing nicely b/w his wife and his mom, to me what really stood out was Pinky's evolution...so beautifully performed till the very end by NA.

The way she'd chide herself for being silly again...who else can acknowledge their failings and worst impulses so candidly and adorably like Pinky can?

This appears to be NA's final scene for a while now as she goes on a maternity break for which we all wish her well :)...I just felt the need today to take a moment to appreciate the brilliant performances she's given as Pinky in this show...Recognition comes from the most unexpected places sometimes...NA has been acting in films, TV, theater since many years...but IB changed everything...I'm amused now to learn about all the many movies I've seen NA in but never realized it was her until after I started to recognize her as Pinky from IB...such is the mark a strong character can leave...so here's to Pinky, as well as the lady who's played her so very brilliantly.

We will surely miss you a LOT, Nitika ji!🤗 And we will hope we can see you back in this show, God willing :)

this is such a fab post for a fantastic actress and a character that has truly evolved over the time. There were times when we hated pinky and then times where we have loved her so passionately. there were times she made us laugh with her crazy oh my maatas and crazy antics and then times where she made us feel for her and cry with her for her because of her too. What a fantastic journey this has been and what a Fitting Farewell this was.👏👏

My love for pinky is not hidden from anyone i've written essays about her thought process even in times when people were on their edges trying to understand her pov so it is so hard to say kind of bye to her when she has redeemed herself and come this far. NA is hands down one of the best actresses i've come across in telly land in my entire journey in telly land. the woman is way ahead of her contemporaries and phookoes jaan in every scene just by sheer presence of her in frame. As many of you said her understanding of her character is something else . It used to boggle me to see how well aware she is of her surroundings and how to react in certain situations even when she was supposed to be just standing 😳 in pinky we've seen an entire spectrum f human emotions and various sides of human behaviors which is so rare to see these days . you usually get only 2 dimensional characters either you are good or bad no in between at all but pinky had many layers and Nitika ji brought even more nuances to all these emotions and truly blew me away with er pakkad on her character.

i've to say i am so blown by her scene today teh whole confrontation with shivaay the way she was so bloody honest to shivaay and anika regarding her feelings. as always jo dil main hai woh moonh e hai truly saying true to her character. pinky who can be loud a lil mean but not dogli and 2 faces( though there was a phase but hey .. for the most part)

i absolutely loved the way she went straight and confronted him that why is he doing this to her and cleared to anika bhi poore haq and apnepan se that don't get me wrong this has nothing to do with you i am hurt by his behavior and that is that. it was so refreshing to see a mother use her haq and not in a naegative way pinky did chotu sa emotional blackmail but then that is pinky she really takes everything darn seriously and when it comes to shivaay teh intensity multiplies twice the size. Again very realistic aa hi jaata hai itna insecurity and dil toh dukhta hi hai. she wasn't expecting much just thoda sa wish and bas isse zyada kya and the way they were all ignoring her was not fair with her but word about her being so so so adorable in doing the facepalms that how stupid she was her cutsie teri maa ne degree li hai galtiyan karne main awww again she acknowledged her past mistakes too so easily. again it takes a brave person to baar baar acknowledge the mistakes with so much confidence and how cute was shivaay ka reply one more galti you don't have to say sorry.awww

phir teh cute cute mother son moment in aap jagah bhi bohat leti ho and the gift just heartwarming. what else really made me smile was anika ka happy birthday mumma the way both of them surrounded pinky but even in that notice how anika gave him the space with his mother she let them have their moment only after mother son were done she came forward. so bloody touching to see

i am going to miss nitika ji so much & her scenes with NM SC & shakti ji & tej bhi we've really gotten some amazing scenes recently of family but it has been a joy watching shivaay anika with pinky and just like all of you i wished we got more of pinnika too but hopefully later Inshallah

A much-needed post!

The little farewell in the episode was sweet. I really admire how much the cast and crew care for each other despite all the toxic behavior by some fans. The bonds are genuine and heartwarming.

Pinky was an actual grey character. You hated her and sympathized with her all at the same time. No matter how flawed the writing was she gave it some depth. Nikita ma'am is a brilliant actress. In my opinion, she saved the script time and time again. I don't know about IB's future with all the rumors, but I think this is one of the best casts I have seen on television. Hands down.

Glad u made a post and that too on our own Pinky aunty and now we should call her Pinky maa.😳

With today's episode I absolutely felt this is a complete circle for Pinky in the name of Arc.😆

I loved how the writers and dialogue writers handled the scene very well.

This is the same pinky who was insecure of Annika in Shivaay's life at one point and even held grudge against Annika saying usne jadoo Kiya hai Shivaay par inspite of Shakti explaining her again n again. She never thought of talking to Shivaay abt her insecurities and just decided to throw Annika out of Shivaay's life and started playing her own games in the mask of motherly love to Shivaay. All say she did wrong with Annika...but I would say she did wrong with Shivika, and also her son Shivaay also.. Inspite of her loving Shivaay to the core, still she didn't understand how Shivaay holds every relationship of his and his marriage with Annika,and also how imp Annika was in his life.

But yesterday's episode if we see, she didn't held grudge, she didn't decide in haste... But when she saw and heard party is for Annika , she just explained herself how shivika met after many days and there's nothing wrong of Shivaay is planning something for Annika. She even was expalaining most of the time ...but at last she felt bad. But again, she felt bad that Shivaay forgot abt her birthday but didn't blame Annika that he forgot because of her jadoo tona😆 .Even she decided to confront Shivaay on her own instead of holding grudge against Annika.

I thought this is the diff and parallel to the pinky scene where she was insecure just before last yr separation. Whereas she is still a mother to Annika now.

Today also PInky clearly mentioned she is happy that Annika is in Shivaay's life and she has no problem with her but her disappointment is with Shivaay😳

How lovely is that to hear? Pinky is openly expressing her disappointment instead of holding grudge. "THIS" Pinky will never ever change from now on and will always be a mother to Annika definitely. I would say with this scene, it's perfect closure to Pinky's arc.😳

P.S. Nitika mam just gave life to the character of PInky. She is a phenomenal actress. I just love Pinky and SSO scenes. I'm gonna miss her truly. I hope she returns back to screen and show once she has a healthy baby in her life, embracing motherhood.😊

Aww now I'm looking at that juxtaposition once you mentioned it and it does indeed give extra nuance to that cap...I love these lines :)

What an adorable person NA is...such natural warmth and effervescence...🤗

Word👏👏...she has ABSOLUTELY risen above the script time and again and elevated her character beyond just being a typical vampy saas...her nuanced acting has made this character something else worth remembering.

Future toh no one knows...lol but yes, Gul has indeed managed to put together a rare cast that has functioned so well together for two whole years...NA has been a very critical part of that cast for me so I'm gonna really miss her...but yes overall the bond of the cast/crew is worth appreciating...even in this scene, Sahil is there to celebrate even though he had no other scenes...even Khanna ji hangs around even if it's just to stand in the backdrop...lol it lends a sense of true bonhomie and shows that these ppl just genuinely like being around each other even if they don't have much to do...

@bold: Yes, that was absolutely the parallel they were going for in showing Pinky's evolution...she didn't blame Anika by default as she always did before whenever she felt neglected by Shivaay...previously it was very easy for her to do so...today, even in the face of being given many chances/reasons to feel that Shivaay is not paying any attention to her, Pinky didn't put it on Anika...she genuinely tried to stop herself from thinking the worst as she always did...that was HUGE...that she could accept Shivaay's love for Anika, Anika's place in his life without thinking it was threatening her place in Shivaay's life.

Even when she scolded Shivaay, it wasn't out of bitterness...it was just hurt and Maa ka gussa...which dissolved in an instant when she saw that he remembered after all...

They've created a truly unique character in Pinky that over time we've grown to love even with her self-obsession and need for attention...she's a person capable of immense warmth and love as well as immense bitterness...both very human traits, rarely explored in TV characters in a humanizing way...they managed to do with Pinky despite some crazy plot angles...haha

I've loved Pinky's scenes with Shivaay too but I frankly loved her scenes with Anika/SC as well and was actually looking forward to seeing a new chapter of Anika-Pinky bonding like the kindered spirits they are...mad, jhalle, nautanki but filled with such warmth...Anika finally getting a different kind of mother figure...she still has Daadi but with Pinky it would have been a different kind of bond...ah well...we still got a lot of nice scenes that I will cherish :)

Aww... This is such an amazing post!! 👏 I do want to write a huge essay for Pinky - will try to come back shayam ko!

In addition to everything you have said, Few quick points from my end:

One of my earliest memory of Pinky is from the Mallika track -

1. Post Drunk Party Adorable Pinky taking everyone's class - 😆😆 MOOONS KE PEECHE! Billu looking like her 5 saal ka Billu.. 🤣

2. Pinky expressing that she seems to have lost her identity after marriage.. and when Billu went - MERI MOM Jaisi hai best hai..(or something like that) NA was just tooo good in this scene... I remember that was the first time I wrote an essay for PSO! 😆

I have always been fascinated with Pinky-Shivaay bond.. and then Anika-Pinky - The fact that they were similar but still different added a nice dimension to this trio.. 😆

LOL.. The 3-fingers did traumatize me but the OMM of Pinky maha-episode was brilliant.. 😳😆As you said NA just OWNED IT... She was absolutely brilliant..👏👏

Another time when NA emoted Pinky's pain perfectly was the Vanvaas track!

She is one of those 'rare' actors who are aware of the scene even when the scene isn't about them.. I also remember during the trapping Mahi track.. She gave some adorable expressions! 😆 😆

Today's episode sounds like a nice farewell for NA and also an episode that can be dedicated to Mother's day! 😊

NA - We definitely will MISS U! 😊 And We wish you all the very best! Take care and lot and lot of love! ❤️

EDIT:

P.S. Have to say her IVs(the one where she explained Pinky's psyche during 3 fingers track) are class-apart! Shows you how well she knows this craft! 👏

And her bond offscreen with NM-SC is LOVE! ❤️

And how can I not mention they way she danced on Kajra-Re... Uff Uff!! Someone post the video here plz! 😆😆

haha yeah we could have gotten some EPIC scenes of Shivika and Shinky together...the dukhi husbands trying to deal with their MAD wives as they gang up on them...haha

I guess for now we make do with the few FUN moments Anika-Pinky got together...lol even though Anika was in KRR mode😆
