CHAPTER 18. LIFE GOES ON!

Life moved on and soon came the day when Aakash took Paayal on a date. And in both the houses, there was chaos and excitement in the air. If Khushi was running around and chattering non stop with her Amma and Babuji in the Gupta house, then there was Geet in Shantivan encouraging everyone to join her in teasing her Veere.

"Aaye haaye! Dekho AD! Kaise tayyaar hua ja raha hai yahaan?, Geet spoke as she leaned on the door of her Veere's room. Her Veere, who was setting his hair, huffed at the comment but ignored it. Anjali, who was standing beside Geet, looked at Geet with raised eyebrows. No reaction for the teasing? Both seemed to think. But then why would Aakash react to their teasing? He was too confident and excited to care about being teased. So he simply ignored the duo and focused on looking his best for his Paayal.

"Arre! Sambhaalke! Aur gel lagaaoge toh baal itna shine karega ki Bhabhi ko kuch nazar nahi aayega!, came Shyam's voice and Aakash groaned internally. Yeh bhi! What the! He ignored Shyam too as he looked into the mirror. Wearing his casual three piece suit, his hair all gelled up, he looked dashing. Hope Paayal thinks the same, Aakash wished. Shyam looked at the girls in surprise. No blushing or annoyance? Bhai waah! Anjali and Geet also shrugged and miserably pouted. What is the use of teasing someone if the target shows no reaction?

Just then came another voice, "Suit boot mein jaayega? Ladki pataane jaa raha hai ya interview dene? and then Aakash groaned loudly. What is he doing here?

Anjali and Shyam noticed the reaction and perked up. They looked behind to see Dev smirk at them. Who called him here? Then they saw Dev and Geet share a high five and understood. Geet must have called him. Geet smirked at them and then looked at Aakash triumphantly.

"Who invited you here?, Aakash tried to growl but it sounded more like whine.

Geet giggled and Aakash rolled his eyes, "GEET!

Now Geet laughed and Dev retorted, "Arre! Why are you scolding her? Usne sahi kiya! Infact, you should have been the one calling me and not her! Ek toh its your first date and that also with the love of your life! Such an important moment of your life! And you didn't call your best friends? Arjun ka samajh sakta hun, he is in Mumbai! Lekin mujhe nahi bulaaya? How insulting! He sniffed and pouted.

Aakash narrowed his eyes, "I didn't call you kyunki tu mujhe tease karta!

"What? Main?, Dev looked affronted, "Never! No way! He looked at his best friend innocently. He entered the room, "Infact, main toh tujhe tips deta! Like your suit boot! He looked at Aakash's attire with distaste and shook his head, "Seriously dude! Get a life! Blazer pehen with tight fitting shirt! Your muscles should be seen you know! He winked at Aakash, "Let her see how hot you are! Aakash's eyes widened at his words and behind Dev, Geet and Anjali looked on delightedly. Yes! He is reacting! Ab mazaa aayega!

"And this hair?, Dev cringed, "Baalon ko jab haath lagaayegi toh gel hi milega! Poor thing! Aakash frowned for a second, "Woh kyun mere baalon ko haath lagaayegi? Dev circled him and from behind, leaned in and whispered, "Dude! Where will her hands be when you two will be kissing? Aakash turned red at the comment and Dev showed a thumbs up to the girls. Geet and Anjali shared a glance filled with amusement. They couldn't hear what was being said between Dev and Aakash but it had the exact reaction they wanted to see. It was right thing to call Dev! He was teasing Aakash just the way they wanted. This was the reason Geet called Dev. Dev, Aakash and Arjun have been together since childhood and hence must know each other's weaknesses.

Dev continued to whisper, "Waise you know how to kiss right? And did you take a mouth freshener? You will need it! And... Aakash was now totally tomato red and Shyam, Anjali and Geet were trying their level best not to let loose their laughter.

"And do you know where to keep your hand when you kiss..., Dev was cut off.

"Bas bas bas!, Aakash let out loudly, "And stop talking about kiss!

"Hello hi bye bye!

Aakash looked at the door in alarm with wide eyes and Geet and Anjali shared an amused look once again. Ab toh aur mazaa aayega! Shyam smirked as he let Manorama in.

"Kiss? Uu bhi biphor mayrage (before marriage)?, Manorama walked in and pinched her son's ear, "Eehaan naahi chalega!

"Ouch mom! You misunderstood me!, Aakash whined and remaining people in the room simply couldn't control their laughter anymore. All burst out laughing.

Aakash looked at Dev, Geet, Anjali and Shyam with glare while his mother retorted, "Hello hi bye bye! Humko tumra miss bhi samajh aaya aur stood under bhi gaye! Samjhe ka?

Shyam and Dev internally groaned at Maamiji's wrong English while Geet and Anjali simply continued to laugh.

"Arre! Chodo humre lalla ko! Kaahe ched rahi ho?, Naaniji entered the room.

Daadiji! Thank God! Thought Aakash. Now these lot will be stopped from teasing me!

"Arre Aakash bitwa!, Naaniji walked in front of him and smiled, "Ek dum Dulha lag rahe ho! Aaj hi shaadi karke aaoge ka?

"Daadiji! You too!, Dev whined, now annoyed. The rest of the family laughed as Dev stomped his foot and walked out of the room. "I am leaving!, he roared, eerily sounding like his brother, as he walked without a backward glance while his family looked on amusedly.

Meanwhile at Buaji's house, Khushi looked on delightedly as her sister applied kajal to her eyes.

"Arre Jiji!, Khushi cheered as she stood behind her sister, "Kya lag rahi ho!

Paayal, who was sitting in front of the dresser, smiled as she continued to apply make up.

"Arre bas karo Jiji! Aur make up lagaaogi, toh wahaan Jijjaji behosh ho jaayenge!, commented Khushi making her sister look at her with wide eyes. "Chup!, Paayal whispered but Khushi just giggled.

"Achcha Jiji! Ek sawaal ka jawaab bataana!, Khushi came forward and sat beside her sister. She hugged her sister sideways. Paayal looked at her through the mirror.

"Jab Jiju aur aapki shaadi hogi toh Jiju ko aap kya bulaaoge?, Khushi asked sweetly.

"Matlab?, Paayal frowned.

Khushi giggled, "Arre! Aakashji bulaaogi, ya sunte ho...ya... ae ji oh ji suniyeji!

Paayal blushed a little and Khushi's eyes lit up at her sister's reaction.

"Oh ho! Sharmaaya ja raha hai!, Khushi teased only to grin as her sister shyly looked down.

"Bolo na Jiji! Kya bulaaogi? Bolo na!, Khushi nagged her sister and started to tickle her.

"Khushi ruko!, Paayal squealed as she got up and started to run away.

"Saree kharaab hojaayegi!, she pleaded as she ran around with Khushi chasing her.

They ran out of the room and Khushi had an idea. She shouted out loud.

Paayal turned around and Khushi started to sing.

Paayal looked at her in surprise and Khushi started to walk towards her sister singing, her voice a little off tune.

Both giggled and then Khushi grabbed her hand and dragged her back to their room. She made her sister sit in front of the mirror and started to collect the bangles from the dresser. As she handed the bangles to her sister, she sang.

She pinched Paayal's waist making her squeal.

Paayal huffed and turned around, singing to her sister.

Paayal smiled sadly as Khushi remembered that her sister was getting married soon. She got up and continued to dress her sister up. As she affixed Paayal's earrings, Paayal heard the clock chime seven times. It was 7 PM. Aakash would be here to pick her up soon. She looked at the clock in excitement. Khush noticed her glance and grinned mischievously. She started to sing.

Paayal looked away from the clock and at Khushi.

Khushi looked at her knowingly and Paayal frowned.

Paayal blushed as she realised she has been caught. She huffed and sang.

She got up and pinched Khushi's ear making Khushi shout.

Paayal turned around and started pretending as if she was going through her jewelry box.

Khushi giggled and continued to tease her sister.

Paayal turned around to look at Khushi with wide eyes. Khushi giggled again and then her eyes widened as her sister lunged for her. Khushi squealed and ran again. As she ran out of the room, she headed to the main door and noticing who was standing there she ran and hid behind him. Paayal followed her only to stop in shock as Khushi hid behind Aakash and grinned widely at her. Paayal blushed, cleared her throat and looked here and there. Aakash looked at her with amusement while Khushi behind him laughed. And so started the date with laughter, amusement and shyness.

Paayal looked at the man sitting beside her and blushed. Aakash Singh Raizada; an enigma wrapped in mystery. Everytime she met him she saw a new facet of him. She remembered the first time she had met him. He had flirted with her and surprisingly, even to herself, she had flirted back. Please take note that Paayal Kumari Gupta never flirts. She just shys away. It was Lavanya, her sister, who flirts and it is Khushi, her other sister, who back answers but Paayal; she never flirts or back answers. Infact, Paayal is famous in the family for her shyness. But out of nowhere came her Rajkumar calling her Miss. Cham-cham, meeting her first time and bringing out the boldness in her. How did he do it? She did not know. But there was something about him that tempted her to be daring with him, something which encouraged her to flirt back in Sheesh Mahal and something that made her back answer him. She did not know that the one night spent in Sheesh Mahal, the few moments spent with him will change her life. But change it did! The second time they met was when his sister Anjali and Nani had met them at the mandir to talk about their rishta. That day they did not speak much but she did see a different facet of him. When he first flirted with her she had pegged his personality to be similar to Khushi's or Lavanya's personality but that day she noticed that he was calm and peaceful person just like her. The way he quietly stood by while the whole family chatted about their rishta proved to her that he was somewhat similar to her in nature. Then came the evening when they met the third time. He had come with his family for their rishta. They were given some time alone to talk to each other. And that was when she saw another side of him; the shy side. Till then she had thought there was no one as shy as her but he proved her wrong. Infact they had not spoken one word to each other but when the family had asked both had said yes for each other without even knowing whether they are compatible or not and whether ideas and mentality matched or not.

Paayal smiled as she remembered the phone calls made by Aakash every day. He would talk to her, telling her all about his daily work but not once did he flirt with her. She discovered two new facets of him in those phone talks; one was that he was very hardworking and very loyal to his Bhai and Di and second was that he loved to sing and used to take part in college competitions. She had lost count of the number of songs he had sung to her on the phone. She smiled softly as she remembered the way he had asked permission from her Bauji yesterday to take her out today. Any other guy would have just called her up and would have asked her to meet up. Atleast that's what she had heard from her married friends. But Aakash; no he was different. He had actually come home and asked permission. That one act made her realize the respect he held for her family in his heart. And that was the moment Paayal Kumari Gupta officially lost her heart to Aakash Singh Raizada.

Paayal blushed as she remembered the evening they had spent together. Aakash had picked her up from her house and had driven to a restaurant for candle light dinner. While Aakash was trying to make conversation she seemed tongue tied the whole way to the restaurant. It was not his fault though. It was just that she had realised yesterday only that she loved him and today seeing him in front of her had made her shy and nervous. But he coaxed her to open up and by the time they were half way through eating her nervousness had left her and both were talking normally. Soon, to both of their disappointment, the dinner ended and now Aakash was driving her home. Home!!! Who wants to go home? Neither of them but they had no option.

Suddenly, Aakash stopped the car in the middle of a deserted road. Paayal looked at him in shock. "Ek cheez toh reh hi gaya!, Aakash exclaimed. Paayal looked at him in worry. What is he talking about? Has he forgotten his wallet in the hotel or maybe credit card or, God forbid, the Office keys? Aakash looked at her in worry then his lips turned from frown to smile. He held out of his hand, "Dance toh reh hi gaya! Paayal heaved a sigh of relief. Hey Devi Maiyya! Koi cheez peeche nahi bhoole yeh! Bas dance ki baat kar rahe the yeh! Wait...WHAT!!!! She looked at him aghast as if he was asking her to jump out of running car. But then the type of dance he was expecting, the type she had seen in the films, the western types was almost equal to jumping out of running car for her. She swallowed and shook her head. "Humein sirf dhumke lagane aate hain yeh angrezi dance nahi aata!, she mumbled quietly. He smiled softly, "Tumne kabhi aise dance kiya hai? She shook her head. "Toh phir tumhein kaise pata ki tumhein aata hai ya nahi! She shook her head again. "Aakashji..., he cut her off, "Aakashji nahi Aakash! Agar mein tumhein Paayal bula sakta hoon toh tum mujhe Aakash bula sakti ho right! Tumhein phone pe bhi samjhaaya tha aur hotel mein bhi! Please Aakash not Aakashji! She nodded slowly. "Par Aakash humne aise dance kabhi kiya nahi!, Toh ab karlo!, he retorted. She looked around, spinning the end of her saree pallu in her hands, searching for an excuse. He looked at her dressed in his favorite color blue and looking beautiful in a saree. How come she keeps on stealing his heart everytime they meet? Suddenly, Paayal had an idea. Thank you Devi Maiyya! "Woh...Music kahaan hai? Aakash rolled his eyes and huffed realizing that she was finding excuses. He responded in a mildly annoyed voice reminding her of his brother Arnav whom she had met when they had come to see her, "Miss.Cham-Cham! There exists something called radio. Aur agar radio nahi bhi hota toh main khud gaane gaa leta! and then he added in a pleading voice, "Ab chalein! Years later Paayal would claim that it was his pleading voice which made her dance with him.

Soon, Paayal and Aakash were out of the car in the middle of the deserted road with a song starting in the radio of the car.

As the song ended, Aakash took a step back and cupped her face in his hands. He came closer and she felt breathless. He was about to kiss her. Hey Devi Maiyya! He pulled her close and leaned down to kiss her. His lips were just about to touch hers when "Chalo Maiyya Ke Bhavan Bhavan Chalo Maiyya Ke Bhavan Bhavan! The phone ringtone rang loudly shattering the silence and quiet around them. Aakash and Paayal sprang apart as if they are scared of each other. Paayal winced guiltily. She had borrowed Khushi's phone and that was her ringtone. She looked guiltily at Aakash while Aakash slammed his forehead. There went away his romantic moment! Paayal stifled her giggles at his comic expression. She went to the car and picked up the phone. It was her father! It was getting late and her father wanted her to come back. So, the two love birds went back home, one annoyed and frustrated; other amused.

"Uhu uhu!, Geet pretended to cough as she looked at the people in front of her impishly.

Right behind her, Aakash didn't even hear her. He continued to walk with a dreamy look on his face.

Anjali, who was sitting right in front of Geet, facing her, looked at her youngest brother innocently, "Aagaye Chutke? Kaisa tha tumhaara Date?

But Aakash didn't hear her either. He simply continued to walk towards his room. It was late in the night and Aakash, Geet's Veere, was just coming back from his Date. Dev, Anjali and Shyam were waiting with Geet to get details from Aakash about how the Date went and also to tease him. Dev was seated between Shyam and Anjali on the sofa and in front of them sat Geet on a chair.

Dev smirked and unable to resist, started to sing.

Shyam, Anjali and Geet looked at Dev incredulously.

Anjali and Geet were sharing glances as they realised something crucial had passed in the last few moments.

Anjali nodded her head towards the general direction of Geet's room and Geet nodded, but with her hands she signalled that they will meet later.

All three men collapsed on the Sofa with laughter and Arnav remembering that he was down to get water, walked off. Anjali and Geet smiled and sat down in front of the men and all chatted about random things till Dev excused himself as NT was waiting for him at home. Soon other two men dispersed too and Geet and Anjali, taking their chance, headed to Geet's room.

"Dekha! Dekha! Tumne dekha!, Anjali burst out the moment they entered the room. Geet shut the door behind her as Anjali excitedly sat on the bed and looked at Geet with wide eyes. Geet smiled at her, "Haan AD! Maine bhi dekha! AB ne... Both the ladies shouted together, "Gaana gaaya!

Both started laughing as the excitement caught upto them.

"Aawaaz thoda khurdura tha!, Geet commented with mock disgust on her face.

"Haan! Aur thoda out of tune bhi tha!, Anjali acted as if she was disappointed.

But then both turned to each other and with a grin said loudly, "Lekin bada mazaa aaya!

Both started laughing again.

Once the laughter quieted, Anjali softly mumbled, "Kaise khoye khoye the aaj Chote!

"Haan!, Geet too mumbled, "Aur dekha Di, jab hum sabne unhein ghoorke dekha, toh uncomfortable hone ke bajaaye kitne cutely shrug kar rahe the! Jaise ki unse ruka hi nahi gaya!

Suddenly, Anjali grabbed Geet's hand and Geet looked at her. She was surprised to see her sister looking a little apprehensive, "Iska kya matlab hai Baby? Kya humaare Chote ko pyaar hogaya? Kya isliye woh Khushiji se aaj kal milte nahi, kyunki unhein apne pyaar ka ehsaas hua hai?

"Shaayad!, Geet replied with a hopeful smile.

Anjali got tears in her eyes, "Bas! Humein aur kya chaahiye! Humaare Chote ko pyaar hogaya yaani ki bahut jald humaare Chote ki shaadi hogi! She stood up and looked straight lost in her thoughts and Geet realised Anjali was daydreaming.

And Geet realised that she was right when Anjali started to speak, "Humaare Chote ka bhi Sehra sajega! Infact, hum apne haathon se sajaayenge aur use pehnaayenge! Woh bhi Ghodi chadhenge!

"What the!, Geet interrupted and Anjali looked back at her in confusion. Geet stood up from the bed and frowned, "ASR aur Ghodi? No way!

"Toh phir?, Anjali too frowned.

Geet grinned, "Chopper se mandap pe land karenge!

Both ladies giggled.

Suddenly, Anjali got serious, "Humein kya lagta hai, ki humein na Naaniji aur Maamiji ko yeh sab bata dena chaahiye! She looked at Geet with a little excitement, "Kya pata, Khushi Bhabhi aur Chote ki sagaayi bhi Chutke aur Paayal Bhabhi ke saath hojaaye!

"Nahi Di! Aisa mat karna!, Geet grabbed her hand.

"Kyun?, Anjali pouted.

"Kyunki Khushi ki taraf ki haalat humein nahi pata!, Geet warned, "Kya woh humaare Bhai ko pasand karti hai? Kya uske dil mein bhi wahi sapne hain jo Bhai ke dil mein hain?

"Kya baat kar rahi ho Baby?, Anjali huffed as she sat on the bed, "Pasand karte hain ka kya matlab? Kyun na pasand karein? Kami kya hai humaare Bhai mein?

Ek ho toh bataaun! Geet cringed internally as she remembered the way Arnav had treated Khushi at first. She shook those memories away and sat beside her sister. She grabbed Anjali's both hands and made her look at her.

"Di! Please! Let them be na! Babaji dekh rahe hain! Woh sab theek kardenge! Aap bas ab kuch mat karo! Apne Bhai ko apni love story banaane do! Please!, Geet pleaded.

Anjali sighed but then nodded. Geet smiled and hugged her sister. She lectured her sister, "Dekho AD! Agar yeh love story aage badhi na toh AB ya toh KB ke paas jaake apne pyaar ka izhaar karenge aur phir humaare paas aayenge ya toh direct humaare paas aake apne rishte ki baat karne ko kahenge! Lekin uske pehle hum kuch nahi karenge! Samjhi aap?

Geet pulled away and looked at Anjali seriously. Anjali nodded and Geet smiled again.

"Lekin hum bhi kya karein?, Anjali explained, "Hum jab bhi Chote ko aise akele dekhte hain, man karta hai aaj hi use mandap mein bithaaun aur Khushiji ke saath phere lagwaa dun!

Geet frowned and then giggled as an idea hit her. Yes! She could do this! Then she smirked as she imagined Maan's expression as the result of her idea. Poor Mr. Khurana! What am I going to unleash on you! Sorry! But I have to! To save my brother's love life, I have to throw yours into limelight! Sorry once again!

Geet turned to Anjali with eagerness, "Di! Main kya bol rahi hun, aap apna dhyaan bataane ke liye koi naya project kyun nahi le leti!

"Project?, Anjali was confused.

"Arre! Aap AB ke shaadi ke peeche padi hain lekin aap yeh bhool gayi ki aapke life mein koi aur bhi hai jo AB se bade hoke bhi unmarried hain! Aap unke life mein romance kyun nahi daalti? Unke liye bhi life partner dhundh deejiye! Waise bhi aapko toh match making karne mein bada mazaa aa raha haina? Toh inhein as your new project le leejiye!

"Kaun? Kise?, Anjali questioned and Geet grinned, "Your best friend Maan Saab!

Anjali's eyes widened but not for the reasons Geet thought. Bechaari Geet! Anjali mused. Ise toh pata bhi nahi ki MS toh humaare project already hain! Aur unke liye as jeevan saathi humne kisi aur ko nahi, Geet ko hi chuna hai! She supressed her grin and then decided to tease Geet.

"Idea achcha hai! Lekin tumhein MS hi kyun soojha?, Anjali asked.

Geet shrugged, "Aise hi!

Chal jhooti! Anjali thought but wisely decided to keep quiet. Baby is right! Love story mein interfere karne se problems aur badh sakti hain! Isliye hum na Chote ke aur na Baby ke love story mein interfere nahi karenge! Then she slyly looked at Geet who was starting to get ready for the bed. Lekin haan, Anjali thought, agar chance mile toh in chaaron ko thoda toh right direction mein dhakka jaroor denge! She chuckled and smirked mischievously.

Awesome update Akash was getting ready for his date geet Anjali and sham tried alot to tease him but Akash gave no reaction till dev came and the way he was talking about kiss made Akash blush all were enjoying his expression here Khushi teasing payal Akash and payal had a romantic date which Akash want to end with a dance and a kiss but thanks to Khushi phone the romantic moment ki mother sister hogai Akash totally lost in his payal world dev geet Anjali and shyam was teasing him and later arnav teased him singing for the very first time geet made her sister understand not to interfere in their love as arnav has started to feel for Khushi seems geet is trying to honeytrap maan not knowing her Anjali di has already set a honeytrap for her

Fabulous update. Loved everything in it. Akaash and Payal getting teased by their siblings, their romantic dance and Arnav singing about his condition, all was fun to read.
