Yes, they are trying to keep close to history wrt Alexander's life, but only trying, and at times not too hard! You might have seen my post above - most of you seem allergic to hitting the Like button, so I never know - about the skimpy treatment given to Alexander's very hard fought conquest of the great fortified city of Halicarnassus. They could at least have given some details in a voice over, but no, even that was not thought worthwhile. I wonder how much they will compress his gala tour of Egypt, the founding of Alexandria, and the prophecy by the Oracle of Siwa 332-331 BC), for they are already getting ready for the battle of Issus - which was on November 5, 333 BC - and very soon thereafter, we will find ourselves at Gaugamela, October 1, 331 BC!
Incidentally, Ada, the one time and then later Queen of Carnia, was not related to Darius at all. If you google the battle of Halicarnassus, or Ada herself, you will get a lot of interesting information. The mother of Darius, who loved Alexander so much that she stopped eating when she got the news of his death and died 4 days later, was Sisygambis. They have not shown her yet, but she was treated very well by Alexander after the battle of the Issus, when Darius abandoned her, his wife Stateira and his two daughters, one of whom was Barsine, and ran away. Sisygambis never forgave him for his cowardice, and said thereafter that she had only one son, Alexander. She even refused to receive the body of Darius that Alexander sent to her after the battle of Gaugemela.
Incidentally, I don't understand this plea to Puru from Barsine. Does she want him to fight for Darius against Alexander? No other explanation is possible. Is he going to do that? The one thing is that they cannot show these Four Musketeers defeating Alexander at Issus. At least I hope so!
To revert to your point, the difference between the antagonist here and in, say, Ashoka, is that Alexander the Great is not Sushim or Padmanand. He is one of the greatest figures of world history. If he had been reduced to an out and out villain, I would have quit the show long ago. Then I would not have to tolerate such large chunks of Puru, who bores me stiff with his endless repetitions of kaam adhura nahin chhodta, and his patriotic effusions about his mathrubhoomi. As for Lachi, who is a very pretty girl and quite a good performer, somehow her scenes with Puru simply do not interest me at all. There is absolutely no spark between them. And as for Hasti, all I want to do with him is to throw him, and Lachi, into a washing machine, to brighten up their Dasyu outfits!đ
I wonder how they are all behaving as though Takshashila plus Paurav Rashtra (which is the modern Punjab) and the indeterminate Dasyu Lok adds up to Akhanda Bharat! What about Magadh and so many other janapadhas, Kaushal desh and Kousumbi and so on, not to speak of the whole of South India? No wonder they never show us a map!đ

Praise the Lord. Like padmanand in CN n sushim in cas n Akbar in mrp they are all completely contrary to history but at least Alexander inspite of being ruthless is not running around lusting around female lead n actually has a good goal n brains. Puru maybe mahaan but he too is not daydream about lachi n wasting his time he too has a goal n is trying to achieve it. Even barsine n lachi are not running after men n acting like royalty for a change with their duty more important than romance. Romance is just a side in this story n Alexander n puru are just focusing on their dreams and countries unlike other male leads Alexander for me is best parallel male lead in a long long time he is not a idiot villain thanks to the CVs for this.
