Sridevi was like a mother figure to me:Deepika Padukone

Like the entire world, Deepika Padukone too was left shocked and saddened by the news of Sridevi's tragic demise. Deepika was amongst the first stars to reach Anil Kapoor's residence to meet the bereaved family. Deepika also flew in from Bengaluru to attend Sridevi's condolence meet. Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018 after accidentally drowning in her hotel bathtub.

In an interview with Filmfare Middle East, Deepika was asked about her memories of Sridevi. She said, "My relationship with Sridevi was beyond the movies. She was like a mother figure to me. After every single film of mine after Love Aaj Kal, I would get a call from Boney Kapoor and after he congratulated me, Sri would come on the line. I developed a sense of familiarity and comfort with her. A few days before she left for Ras al Khaimah in the UAE, she spoke to me.

Deepika added that she is shocked by her untimely passing away and said that they would discuss health and other stuff. She also said that Sridevi was concerned for her as she lived in the city alone. She said, "Between us it was I know who you are but I also know the person.'

Why? Sri always appreciated Deepika at all the events. They were very close. Not everyone needs to put ip an insta story and show they are close. Plus she has named Boney as well and he is alive FYI.

Even if Sridevi is some 20+ years older, Deepika could still say that Sridevi was like a great supporter, friend, mentor. Would she say SRK or Salman is like a father figure? Even here she mentions Boney Kapoor's name when he's older than her dad. Why not Boney uncle? Women get so easily called older sis, auntie, mom type.
