Vijayendra Kumeria, the lead actor of Colors show Udaan, normally gets bored of doing the same show after a year. Yet, he is still kicked about his current show after three long years. "I guess it is the graph; Suraj began with a hardcore negative character under the influence of his father. Then he started to mellow down to grey and now he's positive. So I have had a lot to do.

Talking about the changes in the story of Udaan, post the 1.5 year leap, he says, "It has now moved from him and Chakor (Meera Deosthale) freeing Azaadganj from bonded labour, to the husband-wife equation, post Saanvi's birth. Traditional society expects the girl to leave everything for motherhood. This is not done; rather, both the husband and wife should chip in.

How do you approach your character? "I try to sit down with the creative and suggest changes, for sometimes, under pressure, the writer ends up giving stuff which goes against the grain of the character. After playing Suraj for so long, I am in a better position to judge.

While agreeing that the story has changed, he adds, "It must change, for how long can you pull one track? One needs to experiment. The common thread in both is the human mentality to dominate. This same regressive mindset, which supported forced labor, also conditions men to dominate their wives and families. While forced labor has generally ended, women still need emancipation from domestic oppression.

Having said that, it finally boils down to giving the audiences what they want. If they don't like our new theme, we will change it.

Vijayendra, who began with Doordarshan shows, was first noticed in Choti Bahu, back in 2011. "I am glad I did not get a lead so fast, for it allowed me time to learn. My first lead was Shastri Sisters, where I played an air force officer, and now Udaan. He had also played negative in Tumhari Paakhi.

Looking ahead, he would also like to do films and web series.

"If they don't like our new theme, we will change it."
May be the team is thinking mansik banduvagiri is not connecting with audience.
I feel they bring physical banduvagiri again to improve ratings.

Well Bini you track analysts know better but after 26 years of struggle and getting out of physical banduvagiri if they bring it back again will it not be a big turn off.

except for MeeJay i am not getting much interested in the show and also the makers have not even shown atleast a iota of punishment to Imli after doing unpardonable crimes. I would have been happy is she was shown as bit crippled after the accident during those 1.5 years but she was like some Mira Bai enjoying at Lords Ashram... hmm i know their love and i have indeed sold my logic coat years back but still!!!

@sumi,
Let Imli free without punishment is one of the drawbacks.
But it seems cvs super confused about realising what went wrong.
"Traditional society expects the girl to leave everything for motherhood. This is not done; rather, both the husband and wife should chip in"
And these parts are confusing to me,
This is may be his opinion;
But in the show,aren't they showing Chakor leaving everything for Saanvi ??

Hope they don't change this track. There is so much possibilities and as for now I have feeling like they have only mentioned it and didn't went not even a little in the depth off subject about psychological domination.

What I like the most in this iv is: " How do you approach your character? "I try to sit down with the creative and suggest changes, for sometimes, under pressure, the writer ends up giving stuff which goes against the grain of the character. After playing Suraj for so long, I am in a better position to judge." VJ is absolutely right in this, and I'm happy he caring for Suraj this much. Suraj wouldn't be the same without VJ there is no doubt in that.

VJ is ❤️

@ Bold - I completely agree with that. Besides, I think physical bandhuagiri made more sense with KN around. Now that he's gone, carrying on with that theme doesn't seem that interesting. I personally like the maansik bandhuagiri theme. Makes a lot of sense to me. It's relatable as well. And it's also a bandhuagiri in a way. I totally buy it. But I don't know about the trp audience.

So he says - "I try to sit down with the creative and suggest changes, for sometimes, under pressure, the writer ends up giving stuff which goes against the grain of the character. After playing Suraj for so long, I am in a better position to judge."

I really didn't want to bring up the bachuva track ever again on the forum. But his words do make me wonder if he has been doing this only now or did he also do this back then?

I really appreciate him as an actor.
