Few lives in our times are as dramatic and enigmatic as the saga of Sanjay Dutt. Coming from a family of cinema legends, he himself became a film star, and then saw dizzying heights and darkest depths: adulation of diehard fans, unending battles with various addictions, brushes with the underworld, prison terms, loss of loved ones, and the haunting speculation that he might or might not be a terrorist.

Sanju is in turns a hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of one man's battle against his own wild self and the formidable external forces trying to crush him. It depicts the journey of a man through everything that life can throw at him. Some true stories leave you thinking "did this really happen? This is one such unbelievable story that happens to be true.

Starring: Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh and Boman Irani.

Directed by: Rajkumar Hirani.

Produced by: Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films in association with Fox Star Studios.

What if he was born to a middle class family and was forced to study engineering? Would his story be so "extraordinary and enigmatic"? Bet he would just be one amongst the millions of other Indians.

It's all about circumstances, status and stature one is born into. Not so much about the persona itself.

This entire sentence is so wrong on many levels. First of all, hilarious and heartbreaking? W*F. What is Hirani even thinking.

And then formidable external forces trying to crush him? Who? Dawood? And then the law and order of the country? Whatever shit that has happened to Sanjay is because of his own actions. Literally nobody was out to get him.

Seriously, what is wrong with Bollywood. Nobody wants a hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of someone like Sanjay. He deserves noones sympathy. Looks like this is a complete one-sided account of details. Yikes.

why r they calling his story 'unbelievable'? there r many people out there that go through this kind of stuff like loss of loved ones, doing drugs, going to jail etc there is nothing extraordinary about it, which is why i always think why make a biopic about sanjay dutt? he is a criminal and was a drug addict, if ur gonna make a film about him make it true, show wat he really did, his life wasn't 'hilarious'

If Shiney Ahuja was from a powerful family and a superstar and Bollywood were to make a biopic on him-
Few lives are as dramatic and intriguing as the saga of Shiney Ahuja. He himself became a film star, and then saw dizzying heights and darkest depths- from being a bonafide star in Gangster to facing the haunting speculation that he might or might not be a rapist.

Shiney in turns is a hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of a forbidden love story which defies all odds and realms of the society, the story of a marriage which survives all odds and a story which makes you think 'did it really happen'? Shiney is a story which shows that all that shines is not gold.

Exactly. But Raju Hirani only knows how to make things which he calls hilarious. Like see HW alien movies and see Hirani's Bhojpuri alien movie PK.
I don't know who finds his mindless drivel hilarious.
But Sanju's story and hilarious? Now that's a step too far.

@ bold: See the whitewashing has already started? Life threw things at him/ Oh wow! So doing drugs, ditching a dying wife and going around with other girls, becoming a terrorist- the stuff that life threw at him?🥱 Are we supposed to feel sorry for him now?🤢

I bet every terrorist/hardcore criminal/rapist has a story to tell...So lets go around whitewashing everyone and everything...Its after all the stuff that life must be throwing at them!
