Just finished Epi 20 of The Great Seducer... and everything is beginning to unravel.
It's all so messy, isn't it? And I'm watching with a kind of fascinated dread - both interested and repulsed at the same time.

SPOILERS!!

Si Hyun has just dumped Tae Hee - we don't know exactly why - how is hurting her emotionally going to atone for your mother's accident? Or maybe it's just that he promised his friends he'd do this, and so he's going ahead - because otherwise, what will they think!!!😡

Tae Hee has lost it a bit now - I'm feeling offended on her behalf that she should go to pieces for the sake of three conscienceless idiots.

I really want karma to catch up with Soo Ji - please, Script Writer Gods?????!

I stopped watching after episode 18. The drama was supposed to revolve around a bet but they ended the bet quite early. I don't understand Taehees's character, she was described as a girl who isn't interested in love but they made her fall in love within 2nd week. Shihyun had to breakup with her cuz its one of drama rules 😆 I am curious about whether Shiyun will die or not in the drama so I might watch last episosde. Sooji was one of my favorite character in the beginning but now she is 🤢.
The drama might be popular among certain people because of Joy but rating wise it is a disaster. As you said the plot is messy and in my opinion its too late to correct it.

Yes, they said the bet was off, and then suddenly Soo Ji withholds the identity of the woman his father is involved with unless he goes ahead with their agreement, and so - very accommodatingly - Si Hyun stages the 'dumping of Tae Hee'. It's stupid.

I guess given the storyline Tae Hee has to be a little pathetic but I still didn't like it. Yeah, it's a bit all over the place - I'm left not liking a SINGLE character. Even Kyung Joo is simply not loyal enough.

Will he die or won't he? My guess is that he will - he's got tragic 'feels' and he's self destructive to boot. I think I'll follow your lead and just watch the last epi, just for some closure. 😛

He was worried because the bet thingy, but he didn't end their relationship because of that. If you remember, he kept feeling guilty and kept thinking that what will happen when she finds out.
If I remember correctly, he even asked for a forgiveness pass from Eun Tea.

Actually, about the mother thingy and him being guilty on that part, I can understand it a bit. He respects his mom a lot, he trusts her and follows her like an idol.

So for him, two women he loved the most, being in not so good incident doesn't go so well. I don't know how to explain this to you but I can understand him there.

For me, Shi Hyun is probably hurting more than Eun Tea. She is just hurting on love part. For Shi Hyun, his love, his family, and his friends every damn thing is messed up.

I feel sorry for him on a part, because if we see - Soo Ji's mom is responsible for Shi Hyun's mom's death and Eun Tea's accident. And his so-called father and Soo Ji's mom plotted together to cover it up. If that was not enough now they both are getting married. These all stuff is so connected and poor Shi Hyun is center of all these tragedies.

I agree on Soo Ji part tho, karma should get back to her and her mom.

Yes, correct - he has his reasons. But the manner in which he dumped her - it seemed like it was set up for maximum hurt and damage to Tae Hee, sufficient drama to appease and please Soo Ji - to give her what she wants. I didn't like that.
Do you notice how hard and cynical he becomes when he's with his friends, and how soft he is when he's alone with Tae Hee? It's like he can't shake off their toxic influence at all.

Yes, he is devastated either way. First there was an objection to Si Hyun and Soo Ji getting together because their parents were getting married. But now that his father has broken off with Soo Ji's mom, he is sure to try and get back together with Tae Hee's mom - and once again Si Hyun can't have the girl he wants because his father is marrying her mother!!! It's twisted.
He really is at the center of all these tragedies like you say. Which is why I fear he WILL die in the end. 😕

@Bold can't agree more on that. I think from that dinner table on that trip, I have this strong opinion on that trio that they are literally toxic together and for the people around them.

I really feel bad for Eun Tea that she got caught between these people. And more than his friends its more like Soo Ji alone. Se Joo and Shi Hyun if they both are alone or with someone else, they act like normal 19-20 years old. Hurt but bit mature and understanding of other people.

But with Soo Ji, they seem like they all have lost their mind. But I am glad that from last couple of episodes they have started putting their opinion in front of Soo Ji rather than just behaving like a dog to his owner.

@blue Ya same here, I saw that movie prior to watching this and there is tiny bit similarity. But it would be really unfair to Shi Hyun after all these bad stuff. I hope that they just focus on revealing the bad people and their following karma.

PS: If you are not watching 'Something in the Rain' I would recommend that. I just happen to watch 4 episodes and it is definitely far far better than The Great Seducer.

Agree. Si Hyun and Se Joo both behave like they have to live up to Soo Ji's high standards of meanness - as if being human and normal makes them less cool, somehow. Frankly Se Joo can do better than her. She's just too rotten.

This is the first drama I'm following as it airs in Korea - so far I've only bingewatched completed series. Thanks for the recco - I'll catch Something in the Rain as it nears the end.

Hmmm - wait till it finishes, I'd say.

It's full of depraved, messed up people who make dubious choices. A few MIGHT redeem themselves, hopefully.

I have kept this drama on hold for now, couldn't get past episode 4 actually...
The plot and execution and writing (from the first 4 eps atleast) is quite messy, Tae Hee and Shi Hyun have zilch chemistry and while I do really like Woo Do Hwan, I can't get past Joy, even if I do agree that Joy has improved since her last drama, but she's not good enough to lead one.. In fact from the 4 eps I've Seen Moon Ga In was better than her...
Well let's see if I ever have the mood to ignore past such things I might give it a shot😆
