Ronit Roy

Ekta Kapoor's Mahabharat is all set to unveil the biggest actors of the small screen donning the most talked-about characters in the mythological magnum opus. If sources are to be believed, the most loyal actors of Balaji Telefilms will feature in the show. Sources from the production house reveal that Ronit Roy has been chosen to portray Bhishma Pitamah in the show.

A source from the production unit says, "Ronit Roy has been a favourite of Ekta Kapoor. Their professional relationship goes back a long way. The character of Bhishma Pitamah is the central character in Mahabharat. According to Ekta only Ronit can do justice to the role."

A mythological as big as Mahabharat is bound to be a big budget project and Ekta is not leaving any stone unturned to make it a mega-success. Our source adds, "Ekta Kapoor plans to make the Mahabharat on a massive scale and more opulent than the earlier Mahabharat."

It may be recalled that Mukesh Khanna had played the character of Bhishma in BR Chopra's Mahabharat. "Comparisons will be inevitable but Ronit will do his research and also interpret the character as written in the script. Ronit is completely charged to portray the character of Bhishmah Pitamah," says the source.

Though Ekta remained unavailable for comment, a source from Balaji on condition of anonymity confirms that Ronit will play Bhishma Pitamah. "When Ekta Kapoor had approached Ronit Roy to play the role, he was more than willing to portray Bhishma Pitamah. He had said that Bhishma was his favourite character from Mahabharat and considered himself lucky to be getting to play this character."

However, when contacted, Ronit Roy did not deny anything but added, "I would not like to comment on anything right now. We should wait for Ekta to make the formal announcement." Well, get reading on your research Ronit, you've got a tall order to live up to!

Who was Bhishma Pitamah ?

Bhishma Pitamah was the youngest of son of Shantanu and Ganga. Few know that Bhishma's real name was Devavrata. He came to be known as Bhishma because he took a Bhishma Pratigya-the vow of lifelong celibacy and service to whoever sat on the throne of his father. This gave him a place amongst the gods and he was granted a boon of Iccha Mrityu-control over his own death.

Wow so Ronit will play Bhishma pitamaha's character. Should be interesting to watch.

I'm still depressed about the fact that Ram will play Dhristaraj's character. Ram Kapoor is a very confident person and that what made him such a success as Jai Walia. Because initially Jai Walia played a powerful and strong character.

According to me Dhristaraj (i may have spelt it wrong) was a very weak man that was very insecure. He then wanted to live his dreams within his son and ultimately this caused the Mahabharat to happen.

I just can't picture Ram portraying a weak and insecure character. I would love to see him playing the role of Krishna. Afterall Ram Kapoor is powerful actor that can give flawless performances.

This is what I was talking about brother... the real deal!!! 😃

All of the RR fans were probably more charged than even Ronit Sir was when we got told about this role! Seriously, I'm absolutely delighted with this one because I've always said from the start that I felt that Karna and Bhishma Pitama were the best roles available! 😃

This is what I was talking about on that other KS site when the Mahabharat was mentioned, and that Ronit Sir was not offered a role 😆 Of course, that would have been the wrong place to mention that he's been offered the best role 😃

Ronit Sir has had an amazing 12 months - award wins at the ITA and the Indian TV honours (for his work in KS and Kyunki), a great time on JDJ, and now getting this amazing role! 😃

Anyways, apart from one or two unusual castings, I'd say that this project is looking AWESOME! I'm definitely looking forward to this one 😃

Kudos to Balaji Telefilms 👍🏼

God bless.

Congrats to Ronit, I am sure he will do full justice and he has the time too. With KZK ending, Virani track on a hold, JDJ over, AD farar 😆 Ronit can concentrate on Bhishma fully.
