Part 33
He stared at Geet blankly. The expression on her face was hard to describe. She looked unexplainably calm and intense at the same time. She looked... looked miserable.
When he looked into her eyes, a voice inside him was involuntarily saying, this is where he belong. This is where he belong. He just wanted to hug and kiss her and lose himself in her sweet scent, her warm embrace. Then all of a sudden, he felt Pari cutely put her arm around his arm.
Geet threw her a cold, murderous look that he definitely hadn't seen before.
But instead of being intimidated, Pari held him closer
Pari asked in her usual chirpy flow - Is there a problem, girly?
Geet raised a brow at her and then she turned to him. He didn't know what to say to her. He just wanted to remove pari's hand around him, but he found his limbs frozen just like his tongue.
In a voice colder than the look on her face, Geet - Oh, I get it. You're on a date!
She made it sound like it is the most disgusting thing she's heard in her entire life.
Pari knew Maan differently. For sure he never answered back.
Pari took a stand for both - Excuse me, but I don't think I'll allow you to harass my date, girl. So back off before it gets messy
Maan just closed his eyes in frustration, only he knew that was definitely not way to handle Ms Handa. Messy.. Oh ..she would care a damn about creating a mess and clean it up before the media arrives.. What was even Pari thinking. Did she even knew whom she was talking to.
Geet smirked - how messy are we talking about
Pari put her hand up - ok just excuse us
Geet cared a damn .. she splashed the glass of wine in her hand on Pari's face.. Making everyone gasp at them. Pari's friends immediately surrounded them.
Geet - talking about mess.. Opps I am sorry
before pari could through the drink on Geet or her friends pounce at Geet
Maan - Stop u two
Before things got any uglier maan looked at geet - Geet please
He pleaded her. She gave him a hard look.
She gave him one last stern look and then he saw defeat cross her face.
Geet - Fine
Then she stared at Pari one last time and then she walked away.
A part of him wanted to run behind her. Another part of him kept scolding himself for feeling bad. Geet was not his girlfriend. Yes, they did sleep with each other sometimes. Yes, they did go out... as a favor to each other. But other than that, there is nothing about them that is real. All of those kisses, all of those hugs were for the show and for the favors they did to each other... there were some that were real, but they both decided on being friends and it never happened again after the last time. But why did he feel so guilty? Why did being there with Pari feel so wrong? Was there a part of him that truly belonged to Geet.
Pari went to the wash room and cleaned up.
Their drive to home was rather silent. Maan was still not in a mood to talk. Before getting down Pari sighed
Maan thought he owed it to her - I am sorry ..he said softly
Pari smiled - I guess, you're not ready to go out with somebody else yet.
he stared up at her - What do you mean?
Pari composed herself - Is that your ex? The girl ..
He didn't answer, because he didn't know what Geet was to him anymore
Pari - I think she is also not over you yet either. Maybe you two just need to sort out your differences.
Pari smiled - she looked like she was about to murder me when I put my arm around you Maan. And you... you look like you wanted to be with somebody else all evening. U are an interior designer urself. But didn't seem to enjoy the event.
Pari smiled & squeezed his hand - I really did like you Maan, but someone else owns you for this lifetime.
She giggled before leaving the car - She is a lioness Maan.. good luck with your girl.
He was left dumbfounded. He sat in the car for long after Pari left.
Was Pari right? Did he really want to be with somebody else? Did he feel wrong about going out with her because he really do belong with Geet already? And if she looked like she wanted to murder Pari, did that mean she felt he belong to her too?
He didn't know what he was doing, or why, but the next thing he knew, he was speeding towards Geet's office. He didn't know what he would say to her, but maybe when he sees her, he would know. When he had stared into her eyes at the event, it seemed that some things made sense... especially about the way he felt about her. Maybe all he needed to do was talk to her once and for all. Maybe it was time to wake up from the dream and start facing reality.
Whatever came out of their conversation tonight. He still had to break off his engagement with her in front of his family. He needs to stop living a lie. For both of their sakes... he need to start moving on.
Her car was parked in front of her office building. Great! She was there he thought.
He walked straight up to her cabin not many in the staff were there this late in the office. Adhi came rushing and stopped him.
