Love's Reunion
"Geet, let's go, Maan called out to her as they were boarding their yacht heading back to their home. The two of them along with their best friend Yash and their dog Rex were out for their summer vacations. "It is getting dark, Yash said. "We were late all thanks to Geet, Maan blamed her making her glare him. "Oh really whose idea was it to explore the caverns, She argued back. Yash knew he had to stop them or that will be an endless matter. They are best friends and neighbors too. Geet and Maan's parents are the best of buddies but these two were always arguing for some or the other reason. His parents lived in a foreign country and he had been living with Maan's family since his family was close to theirs. He has seen the two argue as long as he could remember but despite of that they had s strong bond. Maan would never let her cry and same for her, she hated if anyone said anything wrong to Maan. They were best friends in love but won't admit it. Rex's barking sound was what bought him out of his thoughts and looked at the two who were now holding each other's hair. "Stop it you guys, fighting like kids all the time. Let's find a shelter first, He said looking up knowing that there might be a thunderstorm any moment.
They heard a scream and followed the sound but everything got covered in a dense fog blinding them. "Where did this fog came from, Maan said not getting any clear view. "Just keep going, we have no other way, Geet said. Suddenly there was a jerk to the boat and Geet was thrown into the sea. As she was going down she looked to see a beautiful young lady jumping from a height and drowning. Geet tried to go behind that lady but as she went down she completely vanished. Maan jumped in to bring her back.
"I saw a lady there, she was drowning but as I tried to go deeper to save her she vanished, Geet said. "Lady...but the two of us didn't see anyone, you must be mistaken, Maan said. "But ..I did, or may be you are right, Geet dismissed what she saw back there. "Hey guys look over there it looks like an island, Yash said. Having no other option they sailed to that island. They saw a man standing on the coast as if waiting for years standing there. "Welcome young sailors, He greeted. "Hi I'm Maan and these are my friend Geet and Yash, Maan said. "So how can I help you Maan, He asked. "Umm...if you don't mind could you give us a place to spend the night as you see it's already dark and the weather is not good, He said. "With pleasure, follow me, He said. "Ah, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Harsh, He said.
They followed him to a huge Mansion situated at the mid of this island. He invited them in. "You must be hungry, I will get you something to eat, Harsh said. "Ah thank you Sir, The three nodded. "Do you live alone, Geet asked. "From 29 years yes I have ...the masters of this place...died...and it is said this place is haunted, He told. "Haunted..It must be sad and lonely living here all by yourself, right, Maan asked. "It is ...but not anymore, He said looking at the two. They saw a vase lifting up in the air by itself and a cat that appeared in front of them. Rex got distracted and followed it but the cat vanished. "Was that cat ...a ghost too, She looked at Harsh. "I have lived here long enough to get used to these things. It belonged to the Mistress of the house, He said. "Don't you get scared, Maan asked. "Initially yes but now ...anyway...would you like to have a tour of this place, after diner, He asked. "Yes gladly, They answered. "Hey, that is the lady I saw ..., Geet said pointing at a huge portrait of a young lady. Maan and Yash noticed the uncanny resemblance between the portrait and Geet.
"Geet, I never thought you can look so pretty..., Maan commented. "This is Lady Devika, the mistress of this Mansion. She committed suicide after her fiance betrayed her. Many people don't come here as they think this island is haunted, Harsh told."It is sad to hear about her, she really was pretty, Geet said. "Yeah, more than you can ever be, Maan teased. "Do you want to join her, She said angrily. "Alright you two, not now, Yash said. "It is late you should rest, Harsh said. "Alright Rex, come on boy time for bed, Maan said looking around for his dog who was no where to be found. "Where is Rex, He asked the other two who were clueless. "I will go look for him, Maan said. "Wait, I will come help you, Geet said.
They called for Rex but were unable to trace him. They decided to split up to look for him. Geet heard the baking sound coming from a direction and found Rex drowning. She helped to get it out as she was doing that a hand approached her followed by a man but looking at her he disappeared. "I'm hallucinating too much. Hey Maan, I found Rex here, She called him. They went back to the mansion. Maan decided to take some pictures for back home. He thought of taking a recording too so he took permission from Harsh of the same. They set up their network which of the latest technology which could even record paranormal activities, a latest development from Maan's dad's company.
Geet sat in the room which once belonged to Devika. "Hey Geet can you see us, Maan asked. "Yes everything is perfect, She said. Geet was looking around when she some papers in a closet. She got up too see the papers there, she looked into those and found them to be love letters to Devika from her fiance Uday. She went through those but found one odd letter written by Uday to another girl called Nisha. "So she was betrayed...or.., Before she could understand she saw Devika's spirit who possessed her. "That was a great shot thank you Sir for allowing us to take pictures of this lovely house of yours, now could you pose for us too, Maan asked. "Gladly, Harsh said. "That would be all, Yash let us go and rest, Maan said. "I will just call Geet, Yash said making his way to Devika's room.
Before he could understand Geet appeared and ran towards the terrace of the mansion which was on a cliff the same one where Geet saw Devika's spirit for the first time. "Geet...hey wait, Maan called behind her. He was just in time to save her but when she saw him she pushed him away. "Geet...what has gotten into you, He said. "Uday...nooo, She screamed pushing him off the edge. Maan held onto the edge and climbed back up. "Where is Geet, Yash asked. "I don't know ...she seemed like another person...and she called me Uday, He said. "That was the name of Devika's fiance. Come with me, Harsh said. He bought them to the same room and unraveled another portrait of a man.
"This is Uday, Devika's fiance, He revealed shocking both of them. "Uday, Maan said. "Yes years ago, Devika was regarded as one of the most beautiful ladies...but also as a short tempered woman...she fell in love with Uday who was her friend and confidante. Uday loved her too. He was off on a business trip when Devika was given this letter by her father ...after that no one knows, He told.
"We have to find her...now I can understand why she called me that...he looks exactly like me, Maan said. "We must go then, Yash said. "Wait Geet was in that room before she was possessed let's check that first, Maan said. Both of them looked around when Yash saw something strange in the recording when Geet was about to throw herself off the edge...it looked like the hand of a man...or a ghost. "Maan look what I found, Yash said. "This means she did not commit suicide but was pushed to her death, Maan said. "I think so...now I'm more worried for Geet, Yash said. "What is this Dear Nisha...I think there is more to it let's get her,Maan said.Rex snooped her and they found her standing near the same pond. "Welcome Uday, She turned looking at Maan.
"Hey wait Geet...I mean Miss Devika...there is some mistake you see I'm Maan not Uday ...so please leave my friend, He said. "I can never forget what you did to me ...you are a liar, She said. "Hey please...I..., before he could complete she pulled out the letter he took as an evidence. "This ...this too is a lie...you cheated on me with that Nisha, She said. "Hey...li..listen that girl whoever she is ...I don't know her..., Maan tried to explain but she was nowhere to listen, just then the same man appeared from the pond and entered Maan's body. "Devika, listen to me...Nisha never meant anything to me you were the only one I loved but you never trusted me and in your rage you murdered me in this very pond ...you made my spirit vengeful making me to push you to your death...even after that none of us is in peace...please forgive me but let us end this...I have always loved you ...That letter was a plot by our enemies and you fell for that...please believe me now..., Uday now in Maan's body said. "I think he is right Devika, you should end all this ..., Harsh said. "I'm sorry Uday for not trusting you but that letter and then your absence didn't let me think straight...I love you too, Devika said hugging him. Their spirits were finally freed of the hatred and reunited.
Maan and Geet found hugging each other and instantly separated looking around. "I have finally known what happened to my ancestor, thank you ...I think you guys should leave...the spell is broken, Harsh said vanishing in the mist. They followed him only to find his grave with Uday and Devika. "That means...he was a ghost too, Maan said. The island began to crumble and they ran for the shore. They were just in time to reach their boat. The island was lost in the sea forever.
"Hey that island ...and the fog its gone, Maan said. "Look at our watches..., Geet said. They were shocked to see that the time was stopped once they entered that island. "Looks like the time stopped once we entered there, Maan said. "Time stopped for me too Maan..., Geet teased. "Ha ha very funny well at least we have the pictures right, He said looking at the recording but all was gone. "It is gone, Yash said. "Well look what I still have the letter which started it all Dear Nisha..., but to their luck it was gone too with a gust of wind. Left with nothing they returned to their home with their family welcoming them.

Maan and Geet were now married in the due coarse of time they fell in love and were now here in this foreign country to meet Yash. "Maan, can we visit the Art Museum once after we meet Yash, Geet asked. "Sure we can Geet, He smiled. They met up with Yash. "How are you doing now, Maan asked him as they hugged. "I'm doing great and I'm getting married in a month that is the first surprise for you guys, He smiled. "And what else, Geet asked. "You remember that man we met on that spooky island, He said. "Did you find him, Maan asked. "Ah not exactly but you will be shocked to see something ...we are here, He said. "Art Museum, Geet said confused. They entered along with Yash who took them to a corner to show an artwork shocking them.
It was titled "Love's Reunion by Harshvardhan Singh and the date was 1930. "So that means that when we entered that Island ...the time that stopped ...and everything ...we were like in the past..., Maan said. "Some things can never be explained Maan...let's leave it here..., Geet said as they both looked at portrait ahead...a portrait of them when they were possessed. "You are right Geet, He smiled looking ahead. While Yash looked back at someone and smiled ...the person being Harsh. "You had a tough life in the past but now I can be free as you are together again, He smiled vanishing forever.
