Part 6
A Broken Heart
Maan returned to his cottage still thinking about the strange encounter he had with Geet a few minutes ago, he was confused as to why it mattered to him so much of what she thought of him that he went to her house to clarify the matter at this hour. His heart and mind were in a mess. He came back to find his friends already sleeping. He was lost in his thoughts and slept due to tiredness. Geet was happy after his visit but she knew she had to bring his lost brains back and have to work harder for her. "Geet, beti Maaji ka phone aaya tha, wo teen din ke baad aa rahi hain yahan, Her father informed. "Theek hai baba, ab main sone jati hoon aap bhi thoda vishram (rest) kar lijiye, She said going to her room smiling looking at the custard apples he bought for her.
The next morning bought new tasks for the three young men. Guruji started his daily teachings and he assigned them tasks. "To ho gayi kal Geet se baat, Aditya asked. "Haan, He smiled. "To wo naraz nahi hai tumse, haina, He prodded. "Wo thi thoda par maine unse mafi mangi aur unhone maaf kar diya, Maan said. They looked at Yash who was all gloomy and silent. "Kya hua, Maan asked. "Pari aayi thi apne mata pita ke sath Guruji se aashirvaad lene ...uski shadi tey (fix) ho gayi hai...isne sun liya tab se aise muh phula ke baitha hai, Aditya said. "To ismein to ab kuch nahi ho sakta, Maan said making Yash pout more. "Acha tum dono mere dost ho aur tum kuch nahi karoge...aur Maan tu zara soch agar kal ko teri Geetji ki shadi teh (fix) ho jaye to tu kya karega, Yash said.
Maan was shocked with that question but he didn't liked the idea of Geet's marriage, he felt restless not knowing why. "Bol bol teri bolti kyun band ho gayi kya karega tu..., Yash asked but Maan remained silent not knowing what to answer. "Yash...ab bas kar sun hum bas ek kaam kar sakte hain tere mata pita uske mata pita se baat karein shayad koi raasta nikle, Aditya said. "Aur wo nahi maane to, Yash said. "To hum Pari se baat karenge, Maan said. "Dhanyavad mitron (Thank you friends)...mujhe tum dono se poori ummeed hai, Yash said. "Aur humein tujhse ki tu Pari ko dukh nahi dega, Maan said. "Haan...to ye mera vachan (promise) hai, Yash said. The day ended with the two of them resting after diner planning for the future but Maan was really in a mess thanks to Yash's question...What will he do if Geet gets married to another man.
The next day, the three went to their tasks but not before talking to Yash's parents. They were shocked to hear that their no good son really liked a girl so they were to arrive by the evening to talk to the girl's parents. Maan and Aditya assured them and so they were eager to meet the girl and if nothing but to thank her for getting him a change of heart. Maan was happy when he saw Geet coming from another direction.
She looked up and smiled, "Suprabhat (Good Morning) Maan ji. "Suprabhat (Good Morning)...main ye uthane mein aapki madad karoon, He said looking at the big bundle of herbs in her hands. "Nahin iski koi avashyakta(need) nahi hai...main ye utha lungi, She said. "Geet ji aap kisi vidyalaya (school) mein nahi jati, He asked wanting to know more about so he started with a random question on her education.
"Ye aap kyun pooch rahe hain...aapko main anpadh (illiterate) lagti hoon kya, She asked not getting his random question. "Nahi mera matlab wo nahi tha...aap naraaz to hain, He said scared she will get angry. "To aap mujhe manane ke liye phir se shareefe (custard apples) ki tokri (basket) leke aayenge, She giggled.
He looked down embarrassed, "Nahi...wo to main bas... "Mere bare mein chodiye apne bare mein bataiye ...aap yahan aane se pehle kya karte the, She asked. "Wo main apni Dadima aur chote bhai ke sath rehta tha ...padhai kar raha tha...aur sath hi sath apni Dadima ki madad karta tha ...par, He stopped looking at her. "Main bhi abhi padhai (study) kar rahi hoon...abhi kuch samay se chuttiyan (vacations) li hain ...phir wapas chali jaungi, She said. "Chuttiyan (vacations) kis liye..., He asked curiously. "Meri shadi ke liye mere mata pita ne ek ladka dekha hai ...wo log kuch dino mein aayenge, She told making him shocked making him drop the basket he was carrying.
