We know that Adi is under the radar due to a random, silly pic that he and Yash has shared screen space with though there is no indication that he knew Yash by just that pic.
So here is my theory on how the investigation will proceed and how Zo gets added to the case as well:
Adi gets pulled in to the station and questioned on that night events. Zo will reach there at the last minute because even though his purpose in life is to irritate her, she will not let someone innocent take the blame. If she could not see the would-be rapists as evil, she will not see Adi as evil either.
Zo to Officers: Hum Aditya Hooda ko jaante hai. Woh aisa nahi kar sakte hai.
Officer: Uss din bhi aapko inke jail mein rehne se problem thi. Aap itne yakeen se kaise keh sakti hai?
Zo to Officers: Isliye kyunki, accident ke waqt, woh humaare saath the.
Officer: Ohhh, toh app donon the saath mein?
Zo to Officers:Jee haa! Hum Dono saath mein hi the.
Adi, scratching his head and thinking: Ab is bewakoof aur mere rishtey par kaarwahi hogi and poora Mussorie jaanta hai ki hum road par Tom & Jerry khel rahe the.
On further investigation, police unearth that these 2 met after the accident as well, in a sunsaan gupchup church. Adi refusing to travel with family, took same flight side by side with Zo for their spouses funeral. Funeral rites were conducted on the same ground. They met regularly after that on a highway bridge late at night and at a grocery store. Now, they have both taken over the business and investment of their spouses probably because they need to be together!
AdiYa will be in trouble soon on such an investigation. This will be so awesome to watch!
