Nothing in Madhuris dances was vulgar... Her dances have been sensuous but never vulgar... Vulgarity is Karishma Govinda in Sarkailo, Shilpa Govinda in Khet gaye baba... Aaa Aa Eee those dances were beyond vulgarity even though some of the lyrics weren't... Karishma during her prime time with Govinda gave some horrible vulgar songs...
Infact Juhis song with Anil Kapoor... maal gaadi and khada hai were cringe worthy and vulgar than any of the songs Madhuri has ever done...

I for one never found Madhuri's dances vulgar.. as many people mentioned here, they were sensual at most.. something which most actresses fail to do.. they blur the lines between sensuality and vulgarity. And dhak dhak imo portrays the sexual tension between two lovers.. which is totally fine..
I think one can't generalise any song that shows chest heaving etc as vulgar.. a large part of it depends upon the lyrics, the expressions, the way the steps are performed, and the camera angles. I am rather more uncomfortable watching chammak challo Chail chabili (or whatever) song from Rowdy Rathore or bheege both tere or those Karisma-Govinda songs than Dhak dhak which was performed amazingly by Madhuri and Anil..

Also, not all item songs seem vulgar to me. I find a Fevicol se more vulgar and suggestive than Sheila ki Jawani or Chikni Chameli even.. there's a certain way in which Katrina performs these numbers which for me, don't seem vulgar. That's why I tend to like Kat's item numbers more than those performed by Kareena (I may be in the minority) ..Sunny Leone is another example whose songs like baby doll and chaar botal vodka etc are portrayed in a real vulgar manner..

Madhuri Dixit's Dhak dhak, Aaj phir tum pe yaar aaya hai, Channe ke khet mein..
Madhuri Dixit could be very vulgar with a veneer of coquettish bimbette.

I have always found Dhak Dhak to be really really vulgar.

its these unnecessary tandoori murgi kind of numbers are total bakwaas and end up being vulgar.

Anybody remembers Karisma Kapoor's 'Sexy Sexy Sexy muze log bole' song from Khuddar ??
As a 90s kid we were not even allowed to hum it. It faced so much of backlash that lyrics were eventually changed to 'BABY BABY BABY muze log bole'

And KK's skimpy clothes did not help either

I do 😆
Her costume was just a swimsuit with long hanging beads attached all over 😆
It was definitely bold and shocking for that time. I used to love the foot thumping music though.
And then a few months later we had Govinda crooning meri pant bhi sexy meri shirt bhi sexy...mere baal bhi sexy hainnn' 😆 and everyone seemed to be fine with that!

Haha.. I remember that too, it was probably the first time the word 'sexy' was uttered on silver screen in bollywood.
