Happy to be unfilmi

A trained dancer , she was all ready to start her own dance school when an audition landed her on to the silver screen. Since then there has been no looking back for this bahu. And yet she refuses to step into films even refusing a role in Chak De!

She's the latest vamp on the small screen, but Ashita Dhawan defends her sly and scheming character in Bidaai saying that Malti is cute, and not vicious. "She's not the vamp everyone wants to slap. A very typical bahu from UP, she's generally subdued, and controlled by her husband. Only the money minded Malti is smart enough to manipulate her husband into thinking her way, which makes her very real and somewhat likeable. Playing only a negative character is easy, but here I have to try and endear myself to the viewers as well, and that's tough! But I'm enjoying myself thoroughly and people are actually loving me," she gushes.

The pretty young actress, who has been on the TV scene for around three years, was seen in serials like Kesar, Zaara and Betiyaan - Paraaya Dhan. Surprisingly, Ashita is a passionate dancer and choreographer whose foray into acting was purely accidental. "I am not a trained dancer, but my passion for the art made me take it up as a profession. I was assisting choreographer Darren Das, thinking I would eventually land up starting my own dance school. But one fine day I got my portfolio done. My sister was so impressed with those pictures that she insisted that I circulate them."

The next person to see her photographs was Ken Ghosh, who asked her to audition at Balaji. To her surprise, Ashita landed up with a role in the serial called Kayamath. "I played a strong negative role in that serial, but since it was being aired on DD, I went unnoticed. My parts in Kesar and Zaara were also with artists like Yash Tonk and Mihir Mishra, but somehow here too I was never in the limelight. Bidaai is responsible for the attention and popularity that I now enjoy!"

The actress who's related to actor Anil Dhawan, refuses to give any more details of the relationship, but jokes that in school she used to call herself David Dhawan's grand- daughter!

With no filmi ambitions, Ashita is happy doing television. "Never say never, but I am confident that I will never do films. In fact I was offered a role in Chak De and although I'm a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan, I refused as my past experiences in the film world have been quite scary! I'd rather do good stuff on television. I would even love to do theatre, as I am sure being on stage out there in front of a live audience must be a very beautiful feeling," says this lanky actress.

"A very typical bahu from UP, she's generally subdued, and controlled by her husband." --

Only this sentence from the article i am not able to digest. till now we could see only the opposite. May be in the coming episodes Vinu's character becomes strong.

I am wondering abt her scary experience in the film world.
Wishing her all the best in TV world.
