Hi, I'm watching an insane, and entirely inappropriate amount of Hindi TVs serials .
Mostly, it serves as a great way to avoid the reality of my life and laugh at others lives . 😆😆 However , this last one I've been watching just annoys me so much . 🥱
I've watched a few episodes of Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara , because I thought it would be interesting. I'm sorry, but it has been a complete disappointment .
For one, the entire hero- Ananth Mathur's family appears more plastic and fake than a store full of mannequins. Their interactions with each other are cringe inducing and painfully formal. Even the oh we're a cool, laid back family idea fails spectacularly . 👏
Secondly , the whole trope of older man - younger woman , is tricky to handle . You can in my opinion, go one of two ways . Either create an overwhelming lust situation , which I didn't see happening here . Alternatively , the relationship is based on trust, common bonds , conversations and shared experiences. However this takes time . And Anandh and Ahaana just moved waay waay too quickly . In fact , I like the older man younger woman trope when it's well executed, this is just badly done .I really like the Anami , Adhiraj pair from RKC 😃
Buttt most importantly , let's move to the character I'm most tempted to crack my TV screen for . Roshni , aka Rosh . aaah 😡😡😡
As a 17/16 year old, what in the name of God is she doing at home , obsessively fawning over her dad?
Why is she not at school or college or some damn class . Why does she have no friends of her own age ? 😕
Also , perhaps the creatives were going for a super close father daughter bond . What I see though, is a whiney , self centred , annoying brat . Secondly, for me , their dynamic had too much of an Electra dimension to it .
Electra complex in really really really simple terms can be understood a daughter figure who develops a love / obsession with her father , and becomes jealous of the mother / or any mother figure ..The daughter will then attempt to sabotage every romantic relationship the father has.
For me the whole Roshni clinging to him in formal dresses , with arms entwined, and the whole you can love ONLY me is creepy. The whole "dad Ko kudh se alaag nahi karna chahteha " , somehow nags at me . I don't see a daughter desperately attached to her dad , but one who NEEDS to distance herself from him, if she's to grow, and develop any healthy relationships at all.
Char that I like , Rihan - in his casual arrogance , easy lies and overall I'm a rich charmer , does the role perfectly. I want to know his story , I want to know what happens with him , and why he's so callous . He occupies the true grey area the serial was going for
The girl, I cannot remember her name - the sassy one who helps in the kitchen, who sees Roshini for who she is , and may have a crush on the assistant Karan
Laila Raichand - Her obvious artifice , her straightforward money is what makes my world go around , I'm a queen bitch and I rule attitude. I want to know what made her this way , what shaped and sculpted her into this master manipulator n.
I usually like the unusual , and am hyper critical a lot . Please don't kill me. But, what are your views ?
