If you could take only three DVDs from your filmography to an island, which ones would make the cut?
(Laughs) If I'm going to an island, I'll take track pants and shoes. I'd rather walk around than watch a film.

What if the resident island God insisted on you watching films, then?

Ummm... I'll take Sadma, Mr India and my Tamil film Moondru Mudichu.

Good choices. Shows how much she valued these films. Her Sadmaa was her best! So was Moondram Pillai & Moondrum Mudichu. No wonder Kamal & Rajnikanth were so emotional talking about her after she passed away (f**k, still not real.)

I liked how she said If I'm going to an island, I'll take track pants and shoes. I'd rather walk around than watch a film.😆
So the interviewer then asks NOT Lamhe? You wouldn't take Lamhe?
(I am guessing that's his favorite)

Ok, if you insist, I'll take Lamhe! (Laughs)

Thanks. But don't you think Lamhe is one of your best performances?

I love the film but I still feel that the climax of the film went wrong. I feel Lamhe can be divided into two halves: the rest of the movie and the climax. Maybe it's my mindset, but I wasn't convinced that the man (Kunwar Viren Pratap Singh played by Anil Kapoor) could suddenly fall in love with the daughter (Pooja). Throughout the film, he keeps telling her that he loves her mother and then suddenly in the climax he says, I love you. She even retorts: "Mujhse ya meri soorat se?" His change of heart was too sudden.

Did you share your misgivings with Yash Chopra when you were making the film?

I've always felt this way but Yashji was convinced about his ending and ultimately it's the director's film, and like always, I surrendered.

Since we are on your iconic films, what are your memories of Chaalbaaz?

I had the greatest time shooting this film. Director Pankaj Parashar used to write the scene on the set, we used to improvise and shoot. I loved enacting Manju's character, she was such a prankster. I loved the song Naa jaane kahan se aayi hai.

I agree with her about Lamhe's ending.

^^ I also found Lamhe ending totally unbelievable and contrived.
How can he suddenly fall for her after loving her mother all those years, it was too absurd and rather inappropriate too, Yashji wanted a forced happy ending. 😆 I think the ending made the film flop

My choice for best 3 of Sridevi's films:

Mr India
English Vinglish
Sadma

I watched Lamhe just yesterday (My first Sridevi film from those times, and I felt the same. The change of heart was so sudden and unconvincing to me. I liked the overall film, except the ending. Yash Chopra should have listened to Sridevi ❤️

Thats just my opinion. I know how much people like this film :)

I am having myself a little Sri film festival and every night I am going through her old Tamil movies slowly. I am astounded by how much these movies hold up in terms of acting and songs.
I started with Hindi because I have such a gap in her filmography but I just cannot stand it. I don't like Jeetendra as her costar, even Chandini was spoiled by Rishi, I like Naagin the movie, but not Rishi. Ugh...I am picky, picky, picky about her Hindi movies. So I retreat to Tamil or Telugu and it is sublime.

I think I only like English Vinglish and Mom in her Hindi filmography completely.

Sri is magical on screen at any age in all the languages I have seen, she really was special. She had so many years left yet to give. Why did she have to go so soon ? 😭

I don't know if anybody else feels this way... But as great as Sadma is I do feel a little uneasy about their relationship...

I mean she was like a 5 yr old child, he loves her, takes care of her, but also hoping to have romantic relationship with her? That was (not as inappropriate as Lamhe) but a little weird

If Sadma had had a happy ending would it have fared a little better commercially in the North? (It was a hit in South) But then it would not be the classic it is

You didn't like Rishi in Nagina? I liked it... He is a natural performer

I like their chemistry in Balma song

Overall it is one of her better Hindi movies
