Rather than limiting this poll about how KKB gets TRPs which is purely based on those fixed few thousands of sample BARC urban households that too from select regions comprising of only few states; 😳

I feel a poll on, 'is KKB still being watched daily across India on Zeetv even after crossing 1000 episodes with same zeal, reception, anticipation and excitement that was in the initial 2 years, if yes then why?' could have been more appropriate poll to answer, understand and analyse.. 😛

How KKB still appears in TRP charts?


  • Most BARC urban sample Indian households still remain same in the last couple of years, whatever new samples that BARC added from 2015 to 2017 has been in rural regions as per their own submission to media. When new samples from new urban regions get added frequently by BARC there may be scope for more diversity to gauge tastes of TV consumption better in this fast paced modern times, where attention spans and loyalties have considerably come down and viewers options have increased multitude.

  • So some of the urban viewers have got overly habituated to watch Zee and KKB daily at 9pm.😛 These urban Indian viewers may be still waiting to see how Abhigya's marriage life progresses or how evils get punished some day in future, despite all the senseless craps and overly criminalized tracks being thrown at them. But KKB clearly has lost reasonable urban TRPs from 2015 to 2017. It was comfortably getting 4 to 4.7 TRPs earlier that too during many instances, but in most parts of 2017 and till last week it has been struggling to record even in range of 2.4 to 3 TRPs. 😳

  • For major parts of last decade Zee has been 9pm slot leader be it in TAM, TVC or BARC charts. (Also in last decade Kasamh se, Pavitra Rishta & Kumkumbhagya worked well) Hence there may be some loyalty still left in few urban viewers towards this channel.

  • As per observations of few noted TV producers and media research firms, other than enormous success reported by many non-fiction shows in 2017 (be it daily or weekend shows), only long running fiction dailies like YHM, YRKKH, Shakti & KKB managed to have their positions in TRP charts despite ups and downs in their content and plots. This is mainly due to support from their long time viewers towards lead characters, also as most other newly launched fiction dailies on multiple channels couldn't connect well with urban audiences for sustained periods.

  • Another big advantage for KKB, is for a long time Zee doesn't have any TOUGH competition at 9pm time slot from competition SP or Colors shows. 😃 Most Indians may not prefer sitting thru a mythological show daily at dinner time like Shani on Colors, and Naamkaran on SP lost its core revenge and girls societal identity plot, also deviated from man leads love story that worked well after first generation leap, and got into meaningless criminalized obsessed pyscho killers antics long back. Also both these rival daily shows went thru few more leaps last year and its regular viewers didn't seem to have connected well with post leap episodes. 😳

  • Shabir and Sriti's performances and onscreen chemistry as Abhi & Pragya ofcourse has been a major factor that some where till date draws long time viewers to tune to Zee to get a glimpse of their antics.👍🏼 If either time slot changes from 9pm; Shabir or Sriti or both quit KKB, then we can get to see real overhaul in viewership even if content or production quality shows some improvement.

  • As per Zee biz head's latest interview, its Abhi & Pragya characters their jodi that has established deep emotional connect with audiences for a long time. That's major reason for sustained viewership and success of KKB according to him and he termed Abhigya as USP of the show. He also said its 15+ age group and their families that have continued supporting KKB all these years. 😉 As per him, they look forward to sit and watch Abhi & Pragya's life at dinner time daily and want to enjoy.

  • No generation leaps in KKB so far unlike all other Balaji fiction shows has been another major contributor, also bcoz other long running hindi daily shows on rival channels have taken excess routes of leaps showing original leads as aged parents and grand parents. 😊

I think show has good lead actors who give 100% to the script, regardless of comical and nonsensical it may seem. Maybe the lack of saas bahu , kitchen politics and all the murder plots, keep the audiences laughing and keep them on edge too.

Lets accept this,, As long as other hindi TV daily soaps are NOT greatly attracting huge viewership, and urban viewers have multiple options at their disposal, with no tough competition at 9pm slot from other channels,😊 KKB may be still appear in top 10 list in TRP charts.😵 so KKB cast & crew don't seem to worry much about it betterment, as long as Zee nods to air their show as channel is overly dependent on Ekta & Balaji especially after they ended revenue milking cow, hugely popular & branded show Saregamapa last year. 😳
