Lost Girl

In the Palace, everyone was worried. The knights had searched the city but there was no trace of Tara. Aradhana had gained her consciousness many times and fainted again and again, each time in worry of her daughter. At night the King and the Queen were sitting in his study thinking what else they can do to find Tara when Prince Adi came. The guard announced his arrival.
As soon as he entered, he said, "I am going to find Tara.

"No, you are not, said the King looking at him.

"She had saved me, father. Now, it's my turn to find her and save her, said the Prince.

"Because she had saved you, you are not allowed to risk your life anymore. She would not like what she had saved to be in danger because of her, commanded the King, rising from his chair and going to the Prince. The Prince stiffened hearing his command. He sighed and patting the Prince on his shoulder, said in a soft voice, "You must understand her. She will not like this.

"I agree with your father, said the Queen with a sigh.

"But we have to do something. We can't just sit here and do nothing for her, said the Prince in frustration. He was on the verge of pulling his hair out.

"I am not saying we will not do anything for her, the King commanded again. "Tomorrow I myself will go with some knights to find her, the King said in a soft voice smiling at the Prince. To stop the Prince from saying anything further, he added, "I think it's quite late. You should return to your chamber. You are still not completely healed.

The Prince nodded and walked out of the study. Nirmala came to Jayraj and interlaced her fingers with his. He looked at her with a smile and asked, "What is it, my love?

"Nothing, just thinking how our lives have changed because of Tara, she said resting her head on his arm. "You know Mrityunjay, our son, he likes her, she said and lifted her face to look at Jayraj.

"If that is the case then it is now even more important to find her, he said and kissed her on her forehead. There was a peaceful silence in the study. "I don't know from where we should start looking. The knights have already searched for her in the city, he said with resignation.

"I think we should look in the forest. It's possible that she might have gone there to meet Mrityunjay and something... something might have happened there, she said the last part in almost a whisper, fearful of giving words to her dreadful thought of Tara being in any danger.

"I think you are right. We will start from there. Saying this, Jayraj walked with her towards his bedroom.

Kalavati had healed her wounds with a potion but was still weak from the effect of her own magic. She was trying to understand how her own magic could attack her. She studied many scrolls and charts to understand that but none directed her to the answer she was seeking. Without Nandini, she was alone to hunt her prey. She needed fresh and young blood more than ever. She needed blood to recover herself. She had gone to the nearby village and had hunted a few girls for herself.

She was looking into her magic bowl and then smirked, "I was waiting from a very long time for this. Now finally it has come and is just two days away. This time I am going to get all the power I want. Then no one will be there to stop me. She laughed. In the back of her mind, there was still a small worry if Mrityunjay would be a threat to her but she ignored it as this day was bigger than any worry of hers.

In the morning with the first ray of the sun, Tara opened her eyes to find herself safely tucked in Mrityunjay's arms. She lifted her head and looked at the peaceful face of Mrityunjay. He was looking even more handsome and as cute as a little child. She propped herself up on her elbows and bent down to his face. She kissed on his closed eyes and then on his lips. She was kissing him on the lips when he smiled and deepened the kiss. She was caught by surprise but it was a nice surprise.

After a satisfying kiss, they parted to catch some air. He caressed the side of her face with his thumb and said, "I wish to wake up every day like this.

She giggled and said, "Your wish will not be granted anytime soon.

"Why not? he asked frowning.

"Because I will go to my mother today. She must be worried for me. And also we don't know whether I will be allowed to stay here at night after that, she said with a smile on her face.

He sighed and said, "I agree. Your mother must be worried for you. But I promise you, Tara, once this is finished, I will not allow you to be away from me. He dragged her in a tight embrace. She inhaled him.

"Tara...Tara!!

They both looked at each other in confusion but soon came to understand that Guruji was searching for her. She quickly stood up on her feet and shouted, "I am here Guruji.

Seeing her safe on the machan brought relief to Govind. When in the morning he didn't find Tara on the bed, many bad scenarios had gone through his mind. Tara came down from the machan and stood in front of Guruji. Mrityunjay followed her and stood next to her.

"What were you doing on that machan? asked Govind as soon as Tara halted in front of him.

"I...um...I came here to check on Mrityunjay, she said trying to give a reason for her action without causing much embarrassment to herself. Mrityunjay looked at her from the corner of his eyes and flashed a smile.

"Oh! said Govind as soon as he was able to understand the unsaid words of his daughter. "She came here to see her husband, he thought. He smiled and cupped her face, "I was worried for you. He patted on her shoulder and started to walk away from them.

"Guruji, she said. Govind stopped and turned to look at her. She continued, "I was thinking of going back to my home. My mother must be worried for me. Seeing him frowning, she said, "I will come again but I have to go now.

"You are not going anywhere until this...this witch is killed, he said in a serious voice. Tara was slightly taken back by this. She had never seen him this serious.

He sighed and came to her and said, "I don't want to risk your life again. You and Mrityunjay together stand strong to protect each other but alone no big magic will be required to harm either of you. Your mother will be worried for a few days but she will be happy to see you unharmed when all this is over. She smiled and he started walking away from them. But before he went back inside the cottage, he pulled the dagger out of his holster and threw it at Mrityunjay.

Tara quickly moved and stood in front of Mrityunjay grabbing his arms. Mrityunjay too held her tightly in his arms. She turned around in his arms and hid her face in his chest. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes to see Mrityunjay unharmed. Then she turned towards Guruji and saw the dagger dangling in the air. She was slightly confused how without doing anything an invisible shield had protected her. Suddenly she realized that now she and Mrityunjay were one by body and soul, so just by touching each other an invisible shield was formed.

Guruji smiled and said, "I think now you understand what I said. She nodded. He said, "Tara we need to check the location of Kalavati and the time when she can be killed. She looked at him in confusion. "Use the ingredients and the equipment to create a potion. The potion will help us to locate her. You need to use them, he said and went inside the cottage. Tara sighed.

Mrityunjay hugged her from behind and bringing his lips next to her ear whispered, "Everything will be fine, and kissed on her temple. She nodded and moved inside the cottage.
