Come on... Anu Malik belongs to the second tier. Can't compare to ARR

There is no comparison here...A.R.Rahman is leagues ahead of Anu Malik...He is a genius...

I agree that anu Mallik has great songs and is criminally underrated when he is in his element but u can't compare with ARR. ARR has been revolutionary in terms of Indian music. His compositions have so many layers. U can't compare him to AM yaar.?

I love Anu Malik songs but knowing that he plagiarized many of them takes away from his creative credibility...but still many of his compositions are still my favorites

ARR is on a different level, a musical genius, he has composed many unforgettable classics!

But recently, in last 5-6 yrs he has lost his touch, at least in BW film music, his compositions have been disappointing and forgettable.

Thats only coz of the singers that he is using. If he starts working with the people of the calibre of hariharan/SPB/Udit/Shankar/Sonu/Sukhwinder his work will get noticed. Every composer also needs a singer to take the composition to the next level. Its usually a give and take between the two.

Its not just the singers, his recent melodies, compositions dont have that depth, beauty, charm anymore, they fade quickly from memory...some of them are not good to listen to even in first hearing

I think Mohit Chauhan- ARR combo gave some of the best songs

I dont know. I always feel that the depth of a song is too relative to all the three components that make the song. U need those lyrics, U need that tune and u need that singer to bring out the essence of the tune. Not much of a fan of Mohit/ARR though. Somehow I dont think Mohit understands the ARR kinda music. Barring rockstar which had mass appeal, theres none that i even remember. I will always be partial to Hariharan/ARR. Among albums, its Rangeela f/b, roja, bombay, pukar, saathiya, dilse in that order for me.
