ani Mukerji is all set to return to the big screen after four years, with Siddharth Malhotra's Hichki. In the film, she plays the role of a teacher, who suffers from the Tourette syndrome. This results in nervous and involountary spasms, and hiccups.
However, in a candid interview with Neha Dhupia on her show, hiccups were far from Rani's mind. The actress opened up about her husband, Aditya Chopra and daughter Adira.
Rani and Aditya got married in April 2014 after a whirlwind of a courtship, in a hush-hush marriage ceremony, and unlike other grand Bollywood celebrity weddings, there were only 12 people present.
While rumours about a romance between the two started a couple of years before, Rani had always maintained a stoic silence. She was even called a "home-wrecker", as Aditya had been married to Payal Khanna for quite some time.
Now, Aditya and Rani are happily married, with a two-year-old daughter.
On how she met Aditya Chopra, she said, "After having faced failure for a couple of my films, luckily Mujhse Dosti Karoge happened and that's when I met Adi first time professionally. He told me that I'm doing a couple of crap films and that people have pressured him not to take me because they think that I didn't have the equity for a Yash Raj film, but Adi had belief in my talent and me and thought that I was good for the part. My mother and I have been very upfront people always and I like frankness and openness, so I like the fact that he was on my face."
Despite being one of the most influential filmmakers in the industry, Aditya Chopra keeps away from the media glare. "It's not as if he is paranoid about the cameras. He just doesn't want to be photographed. He had told me after our marriage, 'God when I fell in love with you, I didn't stop to think that I was in love with an actress. Now, because of you, people are attaching my pictures to yours as well,'" explained Rani.
Rani is all praises for her husband, and feels that he is one of the best directors.
When Neha asked if she fights with her husband, Rani replied, "Yes, I do. I curse my husband every day; I abuse my husband every day, but he does such loving thingsthat the cursing comes out with love! So, in my family when we curse, we curse with love. We don't curse with hate. If I curse somebody, that means I really love that person."
Like her father before her, there are hardly any photos of Adira on the net, too. Rani has a reason for this. "I want Adira to grow up normally. Otherwise, you get unwanted and undeserved attention without having achieved anything in life. I want Adira to be treated like any other child in school. Aditya and I don't want her to be photographed constantly."
