Dear Meera,
It is scary sometimes to know how quickly the time flies.
It was Abhinav and my hundred days anniversary and I still can't believe that we've been together for this many days. Almost three months now.
It feels like only yesterday he had jumped in to protect me from the drunk guy. How many nights I had spent dreaming about him, practicing to approach him, say a hi at least. I had almost given up thinking he was beyond my reach, that he would never notice me.
Then, how excited had I gotten when he had asked me out. It's true. Time really flies quick. And the feelings, they keep getting deeper and stronger with each passing day.
We'd gone out for a dinner last night. It was one of those classy 5-star hotels.
I'd be honest when we first entered the place, I was worried thinking he was overdoing it just in order to impress me. I wanted to tell him that he didn't need to go overboard. That a simple panipuri chaat would make me happy. And I told him also but he assured me saying that he had won a grand sum as prize money in some quiz competition and I needn't worry about anything.
I was still uncomfortable and we ended up going dutch.
The place was very beautiful, Meera. The dim lighting, the melodious beats of the music, all of it was giving me a strange feeling. I really can't describe it in words. All I could see was Abhinav, all I could hear was Abhinav and all my mind was whispering was Abhinav, Abhinav, Abhinav.
Sitting in front of him, I watched the play of light on his face, I noticed the colour of his eyes. His eyes are a light shade of brown, have I ever told you that? Smokey brown. I actually went and googled the shades of brown so that I could give you the right information. His hair is brown and it sets off the colour of his eyes. And remember Meera, how we used to discuss about guys blessed with long eyelashes while girls like us have to make do with wing lashes. He has eyelashes that keeps kissing his cheeks whenever he blinks.
And you know, when he laughs he has gets a dimple on his left chin. And I don't know why but every time he smiles, my heart skips.
I might have been staring at him for he had asked me, "What's wrong? Do I have something on my face?
I had shook my head and looked down. He had stretched his arms across the table, his fingers had tipped my chin up, "Don't look away, please. I can't bear it. To have your eyes on me, it makes me feel really special.
And Meera, his words had made my hands tingle.
After dinner, we roamed around the city, doing nothing but people watching. His hands would sometimes brush mine. Sometimes he would lean and whisper about something into my ears and then move away taking the warm feeling with him.
It was a breezy evening and his slightly overgrown hair was blowing on the zephyr and he had just pushed them away from his forehead quite irritated as the wind destroyed his perfect look. I don't know what had came over me and I had ruffled his hair. He had looked confused and a little taken back my my forwardness, I guess.
"I have always wanted to do that. One of my fantasies, I had told him. He had smiled and pulled me to his side and held my hands.
"Always wanted to hold you like this. One of my fantasies, he had told me.
I would have melted right there, had it not been him holding me.
"I would be honest, Geet, he told me. "I was in a very serious relationship and I thought I couldn't move on. I was in a pretty bad shape after my break up. Then you came with your smiles, your chirpiness and things changed. I really like you. I really really like you. Thank you for giving me a chance. Thank you so much for choosing me.
Then when he walked me to my hostel.
"Good night, I told him.
"Good night, he told me.
He waved at me. I waved back at him. I watched him turn and felt my heart droop. I didn't want him leave.
My heart told me, "You like him. You like him so much. You love him. And you love him so very much.
I watched him kick a stray stone in the air. Then he turned, smiled at me, waved again and turned away.
I don't how or why I did it.
"Abhinav..., I called out his name and he stopped.
In four long strides, I was standing in front of him. I was wearing heels, so didn't have tip my toes. I leaned into him and with an erratic heart, I put my lips on his.
My eyes were close so I didn't see his reaction but a few seconds later, I felt his hands go around me and I was pulled closer to him. I also realised that he was kissing with quite some energy. And I didn't know what to do, where to put my hands.
When he left me, I was out of breath, my heart beats they were all out of control. I was blushing hard and couldn't really meet his eyes. And so I ran inside the hostel and stopped only in front of my room. And that's about it.
They're special, Meera. First kisses are really special.
Yours lovingly,
Geet
