It is not fair and these movies confirm it that it is not right.

Melodramatic acting when this happens can be off the scale.

Does it happen in real life though? I know that parents do horrible emotional blackmail about their age "marne se pehle", "my BP , diabetes, backpain, is already blah blah " ...but blackmailing on deathbed is far more serious.. does it happen in real life?

It's obviously unfair but it is not just a figment of imagination. I know two girls who were married off like this, one of them had a mother who was a breast cancer patient and didn't have a lot of time left nor did she have a father. Her mom had arranged a wedding for her. She was 18-19 I guess when she got engaged. Though, She did have a married sister and I always wondered why couldn't the girl live with the married sister :/

Another one, this story is typical hindi movie-ish. This Girl had a dying grandparent, she wished to see her married before death, her parents arranged her wedding so she got married at the age of 20-21. Since I don't know the girl personally, I can't really say if she's happy or not but this always annoyed me that the girl agreed to marry someone just like that. :/
