Ayesh,
I agree! But Ratan making an issue out of it seems rather far fetched to me! I live in Europe and how people react to age is different here.
I totally get the weird behaviour of Kaki ma sa and rest of the gang. Even their obsession with the whole child bearing thing.
Ratan who is supposed to be living out of India, behaving like that seems out of place.
The writers need to get it strait once and for all, on one hand they show him to be (supposedly) modern to tell a girl to kiss a guy in public. (Trust me, I LIVE in Europe, and know people do NOT behave like that , even 21 year olds, personal space is respected a lot here).
On the other hand, he keeps on repeating how she is too old because she is 30. Most guys who live here do not even mind dating women older than them. (The wedding planner looked almost as old as Diya to me)
He used to find her clearly attractive when the serial began and suddenly his behaviour is uneven.
I actually have to give credit to Rohit Suchanti for sincere portrayal of every scene. I really liked that actor.
You are absolutely right. See i think whats happening here is that Ratan himself isnt much bothered about her age or whether she looks old or not. He has always found her beautiful. Deep down he has admired her maturity and has looked up at her on various occassions. He wanted her to wear that blue dress because Abhay had insuniated that he was flat lining over katrina in her little pink dress. I think Ratan himself didnt really bother about her dressing too. If that big, ugly fight had not happened, and if they both had not uttered the crappy shit that they did, i think even this kind of marriage wouldnt have brought so much awkwardness in their relationship.
Right now Ratan is going through a phase where he feels that all his freedom is lost. The scene in which he was throwing away his tickets and all in the dustbin was really poignant for me. Rohit put an amazing act there! He also feels that Diya doesnt value him at all... as she had called him useless. Hes now on a mission to prove her wrong and all. But its only a matter of time that he needs to realize that WHY DOES DIYA'S OPINION MATTER SO MUCH TO HIM?
Diya on the other hand is caught between Kaki ma's and her own ma's pressure, apart from the fact that shes feeling downright responsible for Ratan's plight, as she knows him well. She never actually meant to call him useless or anything like that. But at the moment, shes just trying to calm him down by being so meek (which i am hating,by the way!). Its just a matter of time where she needs to realize that SHE NEEDS TO GET BACK TO HER OLD SELF TO GAIN RATAN'S ATTENTION again.
These are all my views based on my over wishful thinking. Please bear with my immature and juvenile notions.. 😆
