Threat to Sonu Nigam Life

he Maharashtra State Intelligence Department on Monday issued an advisory of threat to singer Sonu Nigam and two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs, Ram Kadam and Ashish Shelar.

The advisory has been issued citing threat to them by a terrorist outfit operating from Pakistan. Sources allege that Lashkar-e-Taiba is the terrorist organisation that has led to the issue of advisory.

Following this, the Mumbai Police has given protection to the singer. Security of the three, including the two BJP MLAs, has been increased citing the advisory, the Mumbai Police and sources in the state department confirmed.

Nigam had made controversial statements regarding the use of loud speakers during Azaan and prayers at mosques which drew him flak, while Kadam and Shelar are firebrand BJP MLAs from Maharashtra.

Though Sonu Nigam spoke about loudspeakers atop temples and gurudwaras too, his outburst was construed as being against 'azaan' and Islam. He was also slammed on the social media for venting out against azaans.
