Why is Hrithiks BO disregarded because of his Dad?

I don't understand how that works with his Box Office for films he does with his father being disregarded.

So his father makes up the numbers and gives it to news outlets.

Wouldn't there be many other sources to verify how much the films earned on its opening day.

How does this work?
