I recently got a chance to read this book by Tehmina Durrani.

A badly written book , but one which raises lots of issues ..tho' the book talks about the period of the 1970's through the nineties I wonder if the role of women in the Pakistani feudal society is somewhat similar in the modern times?😕

The author is supposed to be the victim here but some of her own actions raise questions about morality and values...

So my questions

1) Have you read the book/ heard about it?

2) Did the book raise valid questions or was it just an exercise to make quick bucks by talking about some controversial high profile figures

3) Do you really think Tehmina was a victim?

if too many ppl havent read the book, Mods pls feel free to close this topic!😃

thanks!

Yes I read it long time back

I wouldn't say whatever she wrote was a total lie. There have been several incidences related to feudal system of Pakistan and abuse towards women. But as for her case, I would say she cashed her position😉

No , I don't , Ghulam Mustafa Khar was a known womenizer feudal lord. On record he said he married legally to 6 women. Tahmina , was his third legal and according to some 6th wife including all other illegal marriages (God better know about his wives) she was not an unexperienced teenager when she met Khar. she was already married to an apparently decent guy. She made her choice.

Now she is married to Shahbaz sharif, she is his third legal wife.. His reputation is also like that of Khar though he is not even near that man. I am waiting for another book now😉
