It is absolutely insensitive and disgusting on part of some fans, who forget the difference between being critical and bashing without giving a second thought.

Actress, Divyanka Tripathi, who has been at the receiving end multiple times was once again the subject of the same.

The actress had to sport a dark make-up for her look as a Haryanvi woman in the on-going track in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.

For the same, a fan and Instagram follower of Divyanka said-

Divyanka did not hold back and had the perfect reply for the person, as she said-

Even though this relates to a TV star, this issue is universal. Am really disappointed with the media. In this article, the person was questioning the stereotype why people with dark skin always to play the role of maids and DT turned this comment into a personal affront. Moreover, she made such a sexist statement "Which Indian actor will voluntarily choose to look dark on screen. It's not usual". Instead of calling her out for such a racist statement, the media chose to instead twist the issue and said that DT responded to a basher.

The main issue here is what is wrong with with dark skin? Moreover, why do people with dark skin have to play roles like maids. The bias towards people with dark skin is clearly obvious. How many of our top BW stars have dark skin? At most, they have dusky skin. Instead of celebrating diversity, we are still stuck in a regressive stage where people with dark skin are looked down upon. And the media, that is supposed to raise issues like this, remains quiet and panders to top stars.

?? Is this for real? The fan is absolutely right. Black face is offensive and to do it on National tv. Is the writer even educated?

Totally agree with you... that comment was stating why dark skin if she is showing herself as an uneducated illiterate maid, and DT as always used it to show how great she is, but she made a big blunder by saying which actors choose to look dark and she should be called out for this racist comment.

Her ignorance and lack of culture shows.
Bipasha, Radhika, Nandita and many others thank her for the "Which actor will voluntary choose to look dark on screen" like seriously ? ! Is it a bad thing to look dark to begin with?

Does she even understand the real issue ? Begin dark skinned doesn't make one uneducated and uncultured nor does it make someone a maid automatically.

In the show she is disguised
That's why she is having this look
That's why she said first watch the show for which purpose this look is.
It is no where related to dark skin or fair skin
racism
Don't know where it is going
there are many other maids also shown in the show they don't have been shown dark skinned
So it is no where related to that maids are shown dark skinned because of racism
It is related to storyline of the show
And i m proud that she chosen to do this character which many of actresses avoid because they always want to look good
whether storyline demands or not
