Biography on Tamil Nadu activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, whose mission was to provide sanitary napkin's to poor women of rural areas.
From imdb
So why a good role is being taken away from South Indian actor and being given to North Indian.
I am sure they are many good actors from South who can do the role.
Why change the character background and culture.

Maybe the potential popularity of South India actors intimidates the high and mighty of Bollywood especially since the success of Bahubali..😆

No point in expecting any such thing from Bollywood.

They do this to pretty much every 'regional' aspect to a story, ether give it a fetishized treatment or ignore the aspect all together.

The Malayalee director who asked by National Media how he knew about the topic behind 'Airlift' simply had to say he was from Kerala. It is something so known to the people of Kerala and Malayalees, it is very distinctly embedded into the society. But even he had to make the lead character and characters North Indian (specifically Punjabi Hindu) when the inspiration of the main character were two Malayalees. Not to mention the dumbing down of the story which was ridiculous (always felt Kuwaiti -- LOL LOL LOL).

Anyway, it's not just South India that's shafted like this. Various identities are either ignored or given superficial mention and treatment while taking their stories, experiences, etc etc.

Because the Canadian citizen Akshay wants to enact some kind of patriotism to make truckloads of money. So, why give any shit about the reality or authenticity of a real human being's life story. Twinkle had the nerves to chase Arunachalam to tell his story but did not bother about anything other than making money.

What yaaar!! Your mentality is not correct. I hate this thing of people bringing this south indian vs north indian thing. We are all Indians after all. Why so much distinction ...God created us all..we fools only made race caste gender & what not..Atleaset when it comes to a country lets not distinguish within..Such things only bring in arguments, fights, violence.

What is this
Why you bringing all this terms here
My complaint is simple you are making a story on a guy , you are using him for promotions , your wife is selling book using his story than why not bother to get the casting right.
Changing his name and background for what reasons.
When it comes to big name biopics like dhoni or dutt , they are ready to be accurate down to their hair but when it is not a big celeb ,is it okay to change everything, same thing was wrong with Mary kom biopic could have used the opportunity to introduce a North Eastern actor.h

Why can't a North Indian play a South Indian char or a South Indian play a North Indian char?
yeah agree it would have been a good role if the makers had made it a biopic...

There isn't one mainstream popular actor in BW who is a south Indian. If the movie is made in Malayalam , the actor will still be played by a popular Malayali actor and not a Tamilian. Same goes for Kannada and Telugu industry. Barring maybe Kamal Hassan who has worked in almost all South Industry and BW. So I don't blame BW for using a popular actor. Same was the case with Mary Kom, Milkha Singh, Airlift etc.
