Chapter 6
Heer, Balraj and Teji were genuinely surprised when Tara suddenly called them.
"Dadiji kya baat hein aap hame achanak kyun bulaya?" Balraj asked her.
"Balraj halat e aise hein ki aaj tumhe aur Heer ko bulana jaroori thi, Balraj mujhe batao Prem kaisa ladka hein? " Tara asked Balraj.
"Dadiji aap to jante hein Prem ke saat mera kitna karib rishta hein, wo mera payari behen Sipra ka akhiri naishani hein. Bachpan se maine usse khud ke sage bhanje ki tara samjha aur wo bhi mujhe apne sage mama ki tarah respect karta hein. Mere kheyal se Prem ek bahut e acche ladke hein, shant swabhab ka, sharif aur responsible ladka hein wo. Apne har rishta ko wo bakhubi nibhana janta hein. Aapne pariwar ke liye wo kutch bhi kar sakta hein. Uss ka jaisa ladka aaj kal milte kaha. Canada mein badi hui hein, modern hone ka bawjaut bhi apna sanskar ko nahi bhula hein. Lakho mein ek hein mera bhanja." Balraj remarked lovingly about Prem.
Tara was pleased to hear that, Balraj had a high opinion about Prem.
"Kya tumhe lagta hein usse damad ke roop mein pake koi bhi beti baap nischint ho sakte hein? " Tara again asked Balraj to know his further opinion about Prem.
"Koi bhi beti ka baap Prem ko damad ke roop pe pake kush hoga. Kyunki mein janta ho Prem aapne patni ko bahut khush rakhega. Aur koi bhi beti ka baap wose damd ke roop mein pake bahut kushnasib hoga. Kyunki mein janta ho Prem apne honewala patni ka pariwar ko aapne pariwar ka tarah payar karega. Jahatak mujhe samj ata hein usske honewala Prem ke roop mein sirf ek damd nahi ek beta ko bhi payega." Baleaj again praised Prem.
"Tumhari kya kehayal hein Prem ke bare mein Teji?" Tara asked her.
"Jahatak meine Prem ko dekhi hein, mujhe bhi ye lagti hein ki Prem bahut hi acche ladke hein aur jo bhi uska biwi hogi bahut kush rahegi uske saat." Teji also praised Prem.
"Aur,Heer tumhe kaisa lagti hein Prem, tumne usse bachpan mein bhi dekhi hogi, kya tumhe lagti hein ki koi ladki wose shadi karke kush rahe payegi? " Tara asked Heer in a serious tone.
" Badi dadi, mein Prem ji ke bare mein yahi kahe sakte hein wo dil la bahut e accha insan hein, hardworking hein, aapne zimmedari aur rishto ko samajte hein, kisi bhi ladki bahut hi kush rahegi Prem ji ka saat shaddi ke baat." Heer praised Prem.
"Bahut acche, aab mein tum logo kahongi, meri baat ko puri tara sunna, bitch mein tokna nahi.
Heer aur Harman ka shadi nahi ho sakti kyunki wo kaal ek Canadian MP ke ladki ke saat shadi kar choki hein. Ha mein samaj to hu isski wajase tumhare pariwar ke ijjat khatre mein hein. Iss liye mein Lalit, Gaetri aur Prem se baat karke tum logo ko kehani chahati ki Prem Heer se shadi karne ke liye raaji hein. Agar tum log chao to aaj hi Prem aur Heer ka shadi hogi." Tara informed them about the latest development.
The whole news came to as shock to the Maan family. They did not expect such kind of behavior from Harman. Balraj felt angry towards Harman for doing that to his daughter, but he also knew in his heart that, Lalit and Gayetri did not know about Harman's intention. Balraj realized that, if Heer's wedding did not take place today then his family's reputation would be seriously hampered. Besides that, despite having no role in the whole situation majority of the people would still blame Heer for the whole incident. They will raise several questions on Heer's character and qualification. Balraj knew that, in small town many people still felt uncomfortable about marrying an intelligent, independent minded, successful professional woman. On the top of that, Heer was already 25 years old, many people in his hometown would look for a bride who was younger than Heer, and Balraj had no doubt about that he would find difficult to find any eligable man for Heer when they would heard about broken wedding of Heer and Harman.
He knew the only way he could save the reputation of his family was ensuring wedding of Heer with another man.
Nevertheless, Balraj did not know initially how to respond on potential Prem-Heer wedding. Balraj loved Prem as his own nephew. He also truly believed every words he said about Prem to Tara.
Any father in law would be lucky to get a son in law like Prem. Nevertheless, the situation was very much complicated. He never imagined Prem as the husband of his eldest daughter.
Prem was clearly two years younger than his eldest daughter was and it was still somewhat difficult for him to accept a younger husband for his eldest daughter.
Yes, he knew Prem closely & loved him as his nephew and he had no doubt that, Prem would try his best to make that relationship work, Balraj also knew that, Lalit and Gayetri would be supportive of Prem and Heer relationship. Balraj also realized it was important to protect reputation of his family. If his family's reputation ruined today than it would create complications for Geet,Meher, and Ash wedding.
Therefore, after considering those above-mentioned factors he could reluctantly accept Prem Heer wedding. However, he did not know how his daughter would react to that. He could not impose anything on his daughter.
"Dadiji mein smaj sakta hu aapne Prem- Heer ka shaddi baat kyuin tuli, lekin aap samaj sakte hein mein... Balraj could not complete his sentence as Tara signalled him to stop.
"Ha mein bahut acche tarike se samj sakti hu tujhe iss rishte se kyun thoda pereshani ho raha hein. Ha mana ki Prem Heer se umar mein chota hein. Lekin tumhi to kahata thodo der peheli ki Prem mein ek acche damad aur pati hone ka khoobi hein. Dekho Balraj tum acche tara se samaj ti ho ki aaj Heer ka shadi hona hamari pariwar ijjat aur aane wali kaal ke liye kitni jaroori hein. Aur iss waqt Prem se accha koi ladka koi hoyi nahi sakta hamari Heer ke liye." Tara told Balraj.
"Ha dadi ji mein sari baat samaj sakta hu, lekin sari zindegi Prem ke saat Heer ko rahena padega agar iss shadi hui to. Iss liye Heer jo bhi faisala legi wohi mera faisala hoga dadi ji." Balraj told Tara.
Tara knew she already more or less convinced Balraj about the wedding of Prem and Heer and now if she could get Heer's approval then she could finalize the realationship.
"Heer tum iss ghar ka sabse badi awlad ho, apni zimmadari ko jante ho, mein ye bhi janti hu tumhe halat ki acche parakh hein. Mein samaj sakti hu ki jo hua usse tum bahut hurt hui ho. Mein ya bhi samaj sakti ho ki ek indian ladki ke liye arranged marriage mein apne se umar mein chota ladka se shadi karna kitna ajeeb lagti hogi. Lekin agar uss ko baat ko tum ignore karo to tum dekhoge tumhare aur Prem mein kitne sara similarities hein.
Dekho tum aur Prem dono hi shant shabab ke ho, dono hi apne apne zimmadari se wakif ho, tum dono hi dosro ke kushi ko dekte ho, tum dono apne pariwar se payar karte ho. Dekho tum dono hi apne apne professional life mein tarakki kar rahi ho, tum dono ka pasand bhi kitna milta hein. Mujhe sunha tum dono ko hi ganne ka shaukh hein.
Aur ja ha tak mein samaj ti hu ki wo dekhne mein bhi bahut acche hein.
Iss liye mein tumhari bujarkh hone ke naate tumhe kehete tu ki tumhe iss rishto ke bare mein soachna chahiye acche tadike se." Tara tried to convince Heer for that relationship.
Heer felt shocked when she heard that, Harman got married to someone else. Then she got herself more shocked when she heard about the possibility of her and Prem marriage. She never looked and thought about Prem that way. She respected him as a person and she thought they had become somewhat friendly towards each other in recent days. However, she still finding somewhat difficult to accept that, Prem would be her husband. Yes, she was highly educated, professional lawyer; she was more socially liberal than an average Indian person was. However, she still had some traditional value and she wanted to have an arranged marriage, therefore, before today she never imagined that, her husband would be younger than she would. She knew if they got married then people would mock them. People would make various assumptions on them.
However, she could not deny the fact that, if her wedding did not happen today, then she and her family would face way more mocking and humiliation than if she got married to Prem.
She also thought about Prem's situation. She knew Prem was trying to rectify the mistake of his cousin brother. Heer could sense that, Prem would sacrifice his happiness for the sake of their family's happiness. She also realized that, Prem's closeness to his father also influenced him to say yes to the proposal of their marriage.
Heer appreciate Prem's selfness nature, she also felt more respect for Prem. She also realized that, her great grand aunt was right she and Prem had so many things in common. Their nature, their thought process, their tendency to help others, their moral values, their like and dislike even they have a common secret hobby.
Besides that, Heer knew marrying Prem was only viable option for her and they were already friends.
Therefore, Heer thought there might be a chance that their relationship could work if both she and Prem were willing to give their relationship a chance. She knew in her heart that, she would try her best to make their marriage work and she could only hope that, Prem were also willing to give their relationship a chance.
"Thick hein, badi dadi agar yahi ek raste bache hein hamare pass to mein tayuar hu Premji se shadi karne ke liye." Heer infromed Tara politely.
"Mujhe tumse yahi ummed thi bacche, aab jao tayyar ho jao akhir shaddi hein tumhari aaj." Tara told Heer.
Preet and Meher on the other hand were looking for Heer for mehendi function when they heard a conversation was going on between Heer and their badi dadi Tara.
"Preet chalo yahase choop kar baad shonna aachi baad nahi." Meher warned Preet.
"Arre rukh jao na sunne do lagta hein bahut serious batte ho raha hein aur mujhe nahi pata tha ki itni darpok ho, akhir galti mera hi ho mein bhul gaya tha ki har koi Preet Juneja ka tarah brave nahi ho sakta." Preet told Meher.
"Mein darpok nahi ho, aur tum khud ko itna importance dena band karo." Meher scolded Preet.
"Accha choop karo abhi, sunno kya bal rahe." Preet told Meher.
Preet and Meher heard everything and they felt shocked after hearing that, they could not believe that, when they heard how Harman would not marry Heer. But they were really stunned when they learned that, Prem and Heer would marry each other.
"Kya Prem bhaiya Heer di se shadi karengi?" Preet uttered in shock.
"Ha mujhe bhi shock lagi, Prem bhayia to Heer di se do saal chote hein." Meher commented.
Preet felt he should defend his Prem bhayiya.
"To kya hua Meher, mere Prem bhayiya lakho mein ek hein, ek zimmadar, hardworking lok hein, jo apna har rishta khobi se nibhana jante hein, mera pura yakeen jo bhi halat ho na ho Prem bhayiya iss rishte se khubi se nibhayenge.
Aur Heer di aur Prem bhayiya ka bitch kitna similarities hein, dono bahut mature hein, mujhe lagta hein dono ka bitch shadi work karegi." Preet remarked
"Preet meri baat ka bura na mano please, mein bhi janti hu Prem Bhayiya bahut acche hein aur tumhari tara mujhe bhi lagta hein ki shayed in dono ka rishta work kar jaye. Lekin mein logo ka reaction leke chintit ho, ye canada nahi he Preet, yaha lok aisi couple dekke jaror comment karenge jaha pati umar mein patni se chota hein." Meher remarked.
"Ha ya baat to tumne sahi kaha, lekin agar hum dono ka pariwar undono ka saat de to hume lagta hein Prem bhayiya aur Heer di kisi bhi mushkil mokabila kar sakte hein."Preet told Meher.
"Mujhe bhi yahi lagta hein, jo bhi ho jay mein Prem bhayiya aur Heer di ka saat denge."Meher told Preet.
"Mein bhi doonga un dono ka saat, hum dono partner honge iss issue pe." Preet commented.
"Waise Partner roop mein tum bure nahi honge," Meher told Preet.
"Kya pata ekdin hum aur bhi kaam mein partner honge." Preet told himself in his mind.
