Surveen Chawla or Shilpa Anand, who will be TV's new Chandrakanta?

Surveen Chawla and Shilpa Anand are in the run to bag the title role of Chandrakanta in Life OK's show. According to reports, Hina Khan is being considered for the same role in Colors' show.

As anticipated, the two leading television channels, Colors and Life Ok , are already in the race to hog the limelight regarding their respective adaptations of the famous novel, Chandrakanta.

Just a day after news began doing rounds that actor Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai star Hina Khan might play the lead role in Colors' version of Chandrakanta, gossip mills are at work again. This time, buzz is strong that two popular actors, Surveen Chawla and Shilpa Anand, are in contention for the titular character for Life Ok's show Chandrakanta.

The channel is in talks with both the actors, a source close to the team told indianexpress.com. Apparently, the makers want someone, who hasn't been around on TV for some time now.

Shilpa, who is best known as Dr. Riddhima from Dill Mill Gayye, was last seen on television in one episode of 2012 anthology series Teri Meri Love Stories.

Surveen was recently seen in the second season of Anil Kapoor-starrer 24 and was also a participant on the current season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. But while JDJ is a reality show, 24 was a weekly. Surveen's last daily fiction was Kajjal, in 2007, before she turned towards Punjabi cinema.

Ever since Surveen moved to films, she has maintained that she doesn't want to do any daily soap so, chances of her signing Life Ok's daily show seem bleak.

Life OK's Chandrakanta will be helmed by Nikhil Sinha, who is the name behind popular mythological series Siya Ke Ram. The Colors' show will be produced by Balaji Telefilms.

Life OK's show Khunkhar: SuperCops Vs SuperVillains staring Harshad Arora and RaginiNandwani will be replaced by the fantasy show, PremYaPaheli... Chandrakanta from March 4.

Actor Harshad Arora shocked all his fans with his bold decision of playing the lead in Khunkar. Apparently, Harshad Arora was approached to play the role of main lead in Chandrakanta, which he turned down as he had already signed for Khunkhar. We also hear that Harshad was approached to play Param Singh's character in Ghulaam. He however took up Khunkhar as he found it more challenging.

"Well as I said from the start, while signing the show that it's an experiment and sometimes experiments works sometimes they don't. It was a great experience working on the show and with B.P Sir from whom I learnt a lot. I have made some friends for life and some beautiful memories to cherish. Commented Harshad Arora.

On asking him about refusing Chandrakanta he says, I have no regrets. Something bigger awaits.

Looks like people are losing interest in this show. After all how long people will love watching a show which promotes polygamy and obsession of panchguni dulhan? Don't understand how that Nimki Mukhiya show with TOT female leads gets so much TRPs? Now another stupid show of 7:30pm slot names as Jiji Maa is coming soon. Life Ok of 2017 shows except Ghulam were much better.

The irony is that the show which came between him accepting the role of Khunkhar Virendra was named Khunkhar😆. Though I decided to watch this show for a nice story instead of the actors I now can only imagine Gaurav Khanna and Kritika Kamra as Virendra and Chandrakanta respectively😊.
