I am curious to know ...

I am a Hindu woman who recently came back to India, and while I am completely in favour of marrying only and only in my religion, caste and state but I am shocked and appalled to see some of my relatives nearly lynching my niece as she married a muslim man from Delhi (who apparently is highly paid young techie). My cousins apparently blame it on love jihad.

Are we creating an apartheid India? Although I believe in freedom of religion and values in India, but should we really go this extreme and will be it beneficial for us in the long run as a nation to let such forces of right wing ideology to control other people's life and choices within India?

Is there any good in labelling people's choices as "Love Jihad"?

this love jihad is usually limited to jhoppad patti type of people. why a young techie (although being a techie hasn't stopped some people from joining ISIS) would be accused of love jihad is weird. for example zaheer khan married a hindu and later I saw photos of them at a temple, zaheer had a tilak on his forehead. This is not love jihaad at all.

Love jihaad is when lots of these muslim boys in these low class areas (aka shitholes as per trump lingo) go to these poor colleges, wear perfume, attract girls and then convert them and expand the size of their religion in the nation so they can become the majority and declare shariah law in India. Crackdown needs to be done in these cases.

How do you know this is limited just to the jhopar patti? I think you need to take a good look outside your bubble. There are good educated families who are in favour of apartheid in India.

Trump is obscene and bringing his example for India is quite cruel on our history and civilisation. India needs to survive with its diversity as we are diverse in thoughts and beliefs as we have always been (throughout history, from the janpads and rajya philosophy to belief and then through our other habits).

Techies can be anything apart from being techies ... but he is after all an Indian. Thats one thing in Western Countries, they are very united with their ethnic population and very tolerant between each other (at least nowadays), perhaps thats why they have such a high level of prosperity and freedom?

Even before this term 'Love Jihad' came into existence, people were aware that Muslims use marriage and conversion as a tool to expand their religion. How do I (or anyone else for that matter) know, you may ask. Because Muslim guys themselves have said that it is told to them that if they can convert someone it will be equivalent to 7 Haj pilgrimage. And what's the easiest way to convert someone, get married to a Hindu girl and convert her of course.

Next question that should be asked. Why Love Jihad charges are levelled against Muslim boys and not against other religions. Hindu girls marry Christian, Sikh, Buddhist boys as well. Why nothing against them? And that's because Hindu boys also marry Christian, Sikh, Buddhist girls and no one tries to kill the couple. Muslims however have no qualms about marrying girls of other religion and converting them, but they have a big problem if a Muslim girl marries outside of their religion. They even get down to murder if such a marriage takes place. If Muslims don't entertain Muslim girls marrying outside of their religion, they shouldn't expect other religions to entertain Muslim boys trying to woo their girls.

So how can there be peace in this vast country? Should peace come through apartheid? The only ultimate solution that this is moving towards its apartheid between the 2 major religions of India.

Christians and Buddhists, it will be interesting to study how intermarriage is dealt with them. I know for certain that religious violence touches them as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Christian_violence_in_India

There has to be a more peaceful way to coexist. Apartheid will not help anybody, neither will it stop people from loving each other - only creates chaos. When has it stopped anyone?

I didn't say that Hindu boys don't marry Muslim girls, I said Muslims many times violently oppose such marriages and even murder the couple. And if they are opposed to their girls marrying outside of their religion, they shouldn't expect anything different when their boys try to marry a girl of another religion.

@Bold: Conflict with Christians has mostly been related to conversions by evangelists, not marriages.

I don't understand from where this apartheid thing is coming from. If you mean banning inter-religious marriages between Hindus and Muslims, then I think the onus is more on Muslims to understand that life is a two way street. They can't prohibit their girls from marrying outside their religion while expecting their boys to do the same and not face any opposition from others. If they react violently, then they cannot blame others when they react violently as well. If they pretend to love someone just to get them to convert, then they cannot expect not to face opposition when others come to know of their intentions.

This is exactly what I was talking about. Has happened so many times and still continues to happen. And then they say others shouldn't object to their boys trying to marry girls of different community. Well, first they should start practicing what they preach.

So should they be our examples? No wonder Mahabharata happened in India ... even those who doubt its reality should accept it now. We have always been and will always be divided in Bharata ...

How do we stop people from falling in love? By creating laws against it? Taking the worst examples and feeding them to lynch mobs?
