For years they've been missing the
opportunity to work together. But finally
now Shahid Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will
work together in Toilet Ek Prem Katha
director Shree Narayan Singh's
next Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
The pair has missed being together for
years now. Katrina was offered Raj Kumar
Santoshi's Phata
Poster Nikla Hero and Vikas Behl's Shaandaar
opposite Shahid. Both the times Katrina
opted out citing a date problem.
Apparently, Shahid Kapoor had told mutual
friends he felt Katrina Kaif was deliberately
avoiding working with him. "So this time
although Katrina again had a date issue she
decided do Shree Narayan Singh's film,
come what may, more so because it gives
her a chance to play a small-town girl. She
will brush up her Hindi to sound
convincing.
Katrina Kaif has apparently
beaten Shraddha Kapoor and
Bhumi Pednekar to grab the role opposite
Shahid Kapoor in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Bhoomi would be a far far better choice & would look so good opposite Shahid. He'll look really young opposite Kat even though they're around the same age! They'll look silly together!

^^Shahid is & is seen as a very very good actor & a competent BO performer. I don't see why he wouldn't get such films. 😆

^^Shahid is seen as a very talented actor & he is. Just watching Haider should wake up props to that realisation. Also, he is above average/decent In BO performance too, didn't his Sona starter & a few others do well? Maybe this films requires acting chops, actors have one of the 2, not talent + decent film performance. Bear in mind am saying decent. Not good.

Shahid is working in & has worked in very good films & is consistently praised heavily for his work. Infact, I've always felt that he is a very under-rated actor who has had very bad luck--- He should've been a much more successful actor & star but such is life!

^^Maybe the role requires more of an actor then? Idk man, but to me it isn't unbelievable that a Shahid would be offered & do such films. That's all am trying to say.

Here's why Katrina Kaif opted out of Shahid Kapoor's Batti Gul Meter Chalu

Katrina Kaif was approached to play Shahid Kapoor's friend's role in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Shahid Kapoor will be seen in Shree Narayan Singh's next venture Batti Singh Meter Chalu. It was reported that Katrina Kaif will be the part of the film. However, as reported by a leading tabloid, now the actress has opted out of the Shahid Kapoor starrer.

A source told the tabloid, "The director had given her a script narration. She loved the story and asked her team to work out further details. She has an equally strong role as she plays his friend, philosopher and guide. Kaif seemed to fit the bill. Also, this was the first time Shahid and she would be working together."

The source further added, "It's a challenging role and the character mouths dialogues in a particular style as the film is set in Uttarakhand. Kaif would not just have to look the desi character, but also learn the diction, which would be tough given the time constraints, hence, she thought it would be better to say no right at the outset. She was keen on being part of the project, but there was no way she could juggle the dates. She tried to work out the schedule, but it looked tough to fit in the prep along with the shooting of the two films (Aanand L Rai's and Thugs of Hindostan)."

The producer of the film also stated, "We approached Katrina as she was our first choice. She loved the subject and the character. We were ready to work together, but there was a clash of dates. There were workshops she couldn't attend as she's shooting continuously for Aanand L Rai's film and Thugs of Hindostan till March next year."

The producer further added, "Batti Gul Meter Chalu needs to be shot in cold chimes on outdoor locations in January and February. The story demands a winter backdrop. As Katrina will not be free till March, we couldn't wait for Katrina."
