Part 1
A girl is shown standing in front of a mirror a big room. Her eyes are red indicating that she had been crying for long time. "Apne aap ko aaine mein dekho Gauri! Jaan jaogi ki kyun Omkara ne mujhe chuna hai" these words kept echoing when suddenly her phone rang. Without looking at the screen Gauri sensed who'd it be and took the call letting a sigh.
"Bol." Gauri started directly without any formal pleasantries.
"Aaj mein bohot khush hoon."came the answer from the other side.
"Om. Tujhe nahi lagta ki tu jaldbaazi kar raha hai."
"Jaldbaazi? Kyun?"
"Dekh. Main jaanti hoon ki tere dil mein Riddhima ke liye kya feelings hai magar crush aur pyaar do alag cheese hai. Shaadi karne ka faisla bohot bara hai."
Om listened to her intently. Gauri did have a point he knew but his dreams were big and to achieve that he could do anything. And as long as his feeling were concerned he knew that Riddhima too was with him just because of the brand that comes with his name. It did hurt him because he thought he loved Riddhima and had planned that through this alliance he would also make her fall in love with him. He was thinking when again Gauri spoke
"Om? Phirse so gaya kya?"
Omkara came out from his thoughts had started speaking afterclearing his thoughts.
"Almost! Aab tu ladkiyon waale itni bhaari bhaari baat karne lagegi toh neend toh aani hai" he chuckled trying to lift his own mood.
"Main ladki hi hoon." She answered angrily.
"Tu? Aur ladki? Kabhi dekha hai khudko? Puraa college tujhe ainvayi Lady Omkara nahi bulaata hai!!" He laughed. He just loved teasing his Ri.
"Oye! Ek jhaap mein dewaar pe satt jaibe' Stop teasing me Om and changing the topic. Yeh teri zindagi ka sawal hai aur teri dost hone ke naate yeh mera haq banta hai ki main tujhe sahi decisions leene doon.
Om knew that once his Ri was stuck on a topic she won't budge. No matter how much he tried he also never hid anything from her. Ultimately sighing he chose to clear his head and started speaking.
"Ri main jaanta hoon ki jo tu keh rahi hai uss mein point hai lekin tu bhi toh samaj ki Riddhima ke upar mujhe pichle 3 saal se crush hai aur shayad yahi pyaar hai-
"Yeh pyaar nahi sirf ek infatuation bhi toh ho sakta hai" Gauri answered trying not to cry.
"Pata nahi. Lekin itna zaroor jaanta hoon ki main iss rishte ko ekbaar chance dena chahta hoon. Aur pata nahi ki shayad crush ke saath waqt bitate bitatae pyaar ho jaaye." He said hopefull.
"Aur agar nahi hua toh?" Gauri asked trying to know if there was any hope for her.
"Aaisa lagta nahi hogaa. Riddhima ko dekhte hi mere dil ko kuch ho jaata hai! Haaye! Aaj kya lag rahi thi woh yaar! He continued saying dreamily unaware that Gauri was breaking down" Aur usse jab koi aur dekhta hai na toh mujhe accha nahi laagta. Aur jalan tabhi hota hai jaha pyaar ho haina?" He asked.
Gauri trying to suppress her tears laughed and said " Jalan ek ajeeb chirraiyya hai. Aur yeh mujhse behtar koi nahi janta. Jab kisi apne pe kisi aur ki nazar ho toh kya bitti hai yeh main jaanti hoon." She completed silently commenting on her own fate.
"Tujhe pata hai ki kabhi kabhi tu bilkul ladkiyon jaisi baatein karti hai. Lagta hi nahi ki tu meri bro hai Ri" he had again teased her.
"Main ladki hi hoon. Just because i dress more comfortably doesn't change my gender." She shot back thinking about the incidents in the morning.
"Achaa baba! Theek hai tu ladki hai lekin meri bro hai! Bas? Khush?"
"Haan" she replied somewhat cooling down.
"Achaa bol kal kab pick up karne aayun.?"
"8:30"
"Theek hai. Taiyyar rehna. Bye"
"Bye" saying they both disconnected the call.
Gauri was happy that no matter what Omkara had always made a point that they went and came back from college together. However today she couldn't stop thinking that how many times she was called a tomboy. Not that she complained she was just tired being compared to a guy. She was thinking when again today's incident flashed in front of her and she broke down.
Earlier today:
It was break time in college. Gauri was waiting for Om to come to the canteen when suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. Gauri turned back to see a girl dressed in all back denim outfit glaring at her.
"Kya hua? Aisi rakshas ke tarah kyun ghur rahi hai Ishana?" She laughed.
"Tu iss waqt mein bhi hass kaise sakti hai? Aaj ka newspaper toh puraa Dehra Dun dekh chuka hai. Aur tu?"
Before Ishana could complete Gauri cut her and said 'Jo baat pure Dun ko pata hai woh mujhe bhi pata hai lekin iss mein kya kar sakti hoon. Agar Om ka yeh faisla hai toh mujhe koi problem nahi hai. Main usse door se hi pyaar karti rahoongi."
"Aur door se hi sehti rahegi.Ishana shot back. Aab bhi waqt hai jaake bata de shayad usse samaj aa jaaye!"
Gauri was about to reply when somebody from the back laughed sarcastically. Both of them turned back to see a pretty girl dressed in the latest trend looking at them.
"Kya hua? Aise kyun has rahi ho? Pagal ho gayi ho kya?!" Ishana asked irritated.
"No baby! Main toh tum dono ke halaath pe has rahi hoon. She amirked victoriously. Bechaari Gauri! Kya socha tha aur kya ho gaya hai na? Om aab sirf mera hua Gauri tu haar gaayi. Tu haar gayi.! She laughed sarcastically.
"Bhaleyi tumne Om ko jeet liya hai. Lekin Om ko ekdin sab samaj aa jayega aur tumhe chor ke Gauri ke paas aa jayega." Ishana shot back. "All that glitters is not gold after all!"
"Yet people first choose the glitter. Agar Om ko dil hi chaiye hota woh Gauri ko chunta. Par dekho hua kya! Har ladke ko pehle soorat hi pasand aati hai-
"Mera Om aisa nahi hai" Gauri shot back. "Aur rahi baat choice ki toh agar kabhi bhi tumhaare aur mere beech mein choose karne ki naubat aayi toh woh mujhe hi choonega" she said confidently.
"Achha? Toh phir dekhte hai. Tumlog hamesha eksaath aate jaate rehte ho na! Aab dekho ki Om ki fiance kya karti hai." stressing on the word fiance she let a evil smirk and left.
Gauri came out of her reverie and thought that time has come to make Om choose the right path even if she was not a part of it. She got up to freshen up and went towards the washroom.
