EDT~ ep 41, 18.12.17, My stance. She's got the spirit!
Sharanya , for me has the right attitude and motivation to capture the evil that holds Vyom captive. The holy thread gives her the armour of faith. Sadhvi a goddess sent, is her guiding spirit.
Dealing with loved ones possessed by evil spirits is not unknown in many cultures across the world. In many cultures and faiths, spirit a possessed individual is referred to sage, saint, holy people, and spiritualists. Shranaya along with both sides of her family too seeks the divine intervention of the mother goddess Durga who personifies the destruction of all evil as one of the many invincible godly attributes she has. The episode epitomizes the battle between virtue and vice. Sharanya represents the mother goddess in her fearless confrontation of evil personified in the face of a possessed Vyom.
Vyom is less of the lover, son, relative and more of a powerful ,uncontrollable fiend, who creeps, leaps on, overpowers who so ever tries to come near him to restrain. Were wolf like Vyom's threatening body language is enough to keep all his relatives and acquaintances at bay. The signal around him is to keep away. To add credence to his possessed state, Vyom is shown to, wring peoples neck , wallop others, and slap his own mother Madhvi .Vyom turns down her maternal calling. So much so is evident the bond between a mother and son.
But it's Vyom's wife to be Sharanya who is ready to wrestle with the demonic spirit within Vyom. Her personal faith proves more stronger than the fears of both the Bishts and Bedi's and their cries of keeping well away from Vyom! Sharanya, believes she will succumb Vyom. I suspect it is her devout faith in her deity that gives her such divine valour to move in towards the possessed Vyom. Any ordinary man or woman would run a mile seeing the warped expression, imposed maimed limbs...of werewolf Vyom frightening!
The highlight of the episode for me is the power packed fight between the goddess and the evil spirit. Both Donal and Vikram went into the spirit of Sharanya and Vyom. How Sharanya with the power bestowed upon the mother deity over powers Vyom's body, soul and spirit...how Vyom howls in agony ,when the mother goddess gives Sharanya the supremacy to twist the spirit within Vyom's arms behind his back! Till with spiritual and body might Sharanya ties the red thread that exorcises the evil spirit out of Vyom. With sheer dominance cascaded down to her through goddess Durga, Sharanya smites the evil one out of Vyom... who ends up succumbed on the forest floor!Donal's expressions, are impressive when she repetitively chants the prayer to her mother deity in the final process of exorcism .. Protect us goddess, may your worshippers not be harmed. I have come to you. Shower your blessings goddess.
The spirit of unrest , fear and unease remains both with the Bedi's and Bisht's. But more so with Vyom, who gathers much evidence of his unexplained, unimaginable harm to his loved ones. Yet again its Sharanya who lifts his soul ,by covering up for his behaviour by clarifying that he is not held responsible for his actions, as he ended up being possessed by the same spirit she mentions about. why didn't she remind him that the same spirit got hold of him, that he scoffed and invited to enter him??? But Sharanya only wants him to keep in mind that its imperative he keeps the red sacred thread on his wrist leading up to their marriage. Does Sharanya still fear more onslaughts on him by the spirit ?? Shiv watches over them. Is he contemplating removing the sacred off Vyom's wrist? Vyom is genuinely remorseful to hear about the atrocities he committed upon Sharanya. Vikram's expressions are brilliant, where Vyom shows insecurity, fears he may lose her, wants her support.. and his sorry that sums up his regret.. he didn't know what he was doing??? Donal's benign expression when she holds his hand to show ,Sharanya understands .. even before taking the marriage vows, Sharanya asks for Vyom's trust in her and seals this with her promise of always standing by him. but up there Shiv wears a scowl on his face.
It's the kindred spirit that Sharanya taps within her family. Common beliefs, convictions, sentiments, of familial bonding. But her brother Aditiya points out a glaring truth that, it's not a person they are up against but an evil spirit! He is right.. a spirit that lurks about as Nawab sees Shiv right outside their window. Aditya echoes their fear that it seems the spirit is out to get them!!
As in the wake of fearing evil, those with faith look towards divine protection. Ram notices that Durga's idol has been forgotten by them in their old house when they moved. His belief along with the rest of his family is that the idol's absence is allowing harm to come to them hence he will leave right away to collect it from their previous home..
A much troubled spirit, Shiv beats Ram Bisht to Sharanya' previous residence and looks at the mother goddess's idol with a book by it . Bitterly, Shiv recites his sentiments in verse, "don't knock at the doors of death while searching for life. Your time is up. That's it. You will become an enigma. Hamlet53 19.12.17
Powerful performance by Vikram and Donal Sharanya certainly has the spirit to nab an evil spirit!! and what a surprise!! I got to see Namik , briefly without his ,chalky cover up. Precap outlines a bride all set for the occasion , but she is adamant, she won't go ahead ,till her father returns. Shiv is not going to handover Sharanya to Vyom over a silver platter. He trips the hasty Ram, now he'll see how Sharanya will get married???
