OMG Vidya...you are talking about kolangal and abhi 😆 Do you know how many hates that director in TN?? 😆

Well compared to BT serial, its more realistic like you mentioned, but still they too have their own plus/minus points which u would have noticed in K section 😉

About BT shows, they do start very well, but after couple of months, they lose the track and dont know how to manage so they starts to copy their own shows 🤢

vidhya all i can say about the actors who work hard with out throwing tanturms as mature, sensible and inteligent people.this is a competitive world and so many r there to work for the less pay also to enter into the field.

the producers who r well established may get effeted when the actor walks out of the show but as they r producing their serials at large scale they will manage to get out from that ,,,but what will be the fate of so many who r associated with the serial and that is their bread earning source.

all mature and sensible actors stick to the partiular housce as the producer is giving them work in multiple serials and making them stars and also finacially strong.

may be some who walekd out may be having successfull careers than before they had when they sticked to particular production housce.

and regarding devyani of kolangal yes she is hard working and intelligent as so many yesterday heroines like meena, banu priya and latest buzz is simran too r eyeing on televison so if particular actor doesnt meet the demand there r so many who want to get into the shoes of that actor .

so if u want to be in the limelight and work then we have to meet the demands of the serial also.

Well well, thanks Meli - I did not know that
such a discussion is on!!! Guess the grass is
greener always on the other side - I do not
watch Hindi or any other South Indian soaps but
have been following a few Tamil serials - either
to update or because they have become a bad habit
to shed 😳 - It is always the good people who
suffer endlessly - until the final 10 episodes or
so - and then magic strikes!!! All their troubles
vaporize in to thin air and they shine!!! Honestly
if u are bad and get to enjoy life - well mostly -
u would much rather be a baddie!!!!

Talking about some one becoming rich in 2 months,
what about some one with just a 3rd standard
education becoming a computer wizard in 1 month
and attending seminars and conferences???? Not to
talk about writing programs which are hi tech and
even the teacher finds it difficult to understand??
Money can be earned in so many different ways - one
drug deal and u could be a millionaire - but
education??? Menials like us toil for years to get
a Masters'!!!!

It is just that these serials teach you one
lesson - reel has no relation to real - how not
to be and I think that is a very valuable lesson.
Be it a Kasthuri or Abi or Shanthi or Selvi -
none of these women can be real. They do it for
the money and forget the whole thing as soon as
they are off camera. Guess we need to do the
same - just watch for time pass and forget the
moment we switch off the TV!!!!

Kolangal....hahaha...
As everyone said..Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence....
Well, since i watch Kolangal primarily because my mom-in-law cannot live without watching it every nite.... 😊
There is definitely a difference btw South indian serials and what BT churns out..

Serials in the south are more realistic and close to the truth even though they do strech the struggle for years and years like they do in kolangal when the protoganist is always suffering through something or the other in her life...But one thing for sure is that they show her has a resilent and strong character...
Trying to overcome all odds...

But BT serials are fun to watch because of the opulent setting and the unreasonable, totally out of the world story lines and to tell the truth the good looking actors and actresses which south serials lack...Well, all i can say to that is that all the good looking guys in the south are not in the TV industry definitely...

But, the question that we need to ask ourselves is why are we still watching BT serials when we know they are completely out of sync with how the world operates... 😆

Sangeetha, we watch K-serials for the hot jodis. I used to be an addict of English serials at one time. Then I started watching Tamil ones. Some of them were great. I like all the old ones, K.Balachander's, Balu Mahendra's, Revati's and Suhasini's. They were never very long. In fact the maximum some of them went is I think 50 episodes or something.

Then came the mega serials started by Radhika and others. Since I like Radhika I used to watch them. While these are good in the beginning, soon they really tested my patience. I did not like the idea of her being the second wife in one too many of her serials. The only one of the mega serial that held an interest for me throughout was Metti Oli which touched 1000 episodes.

But for the last year and a half it has been only Hindi serials with the occasional English one (like Brothers and Sisters or Boston Legal) that has held my attention not because they have a good script (most of the time they are quite pathetic) but because I have fallen for the jodis be it JB of KS or Shiv-Gauri of KAA or Rajiv- Suman of Saathi Re or now Michi. But I have held on to them only till they remained loyal to each other. The minute one of them started straying, I lost interest in them and very soon stopped watching them altogether. For me loyalty to a relationship comes first. I am willing to digest any crap logic or stupid story line as long as the sanctity in a relationship is maintained. If not it is tata from me. Even the hot jodis cannot hold me to them.

To everyone who were talking about Kolangal I know it was horrible to see her suffering all the time as the main protagonist. It was a really heavy theme where we saw her suffering all the time either with her ex husband or hr step brother. I am not sure about how those relationships were portrayed but it is definitely true that women cannot succeed in a construction industry with her innocense and soft nature. Women can be successful as a teacher, nurse or a doctor but never as a contractor. It is very hard and if we have to be successful we have to become someone like Menaka who has no emotions and feelings and become a stone and brick herself. Since I am part of it I know enough research was done by the director about the construction industry and it is true that top leading contractors will never let you succeed. It is a male dominated industry. Even in Canada when we work for contractors they always regret to send us to job sites or dealing with different trades. There is a discrimination even in the mordern world. Maximum abusive language is used in this industry even in an office surrounding and you have to be the same to succeed.
