The room was spinning as Uma Shankar Toshniwal watched his Maasi Sa walk out of the house, handcuffs slipped on her wrist.
The hands that fed him, had tried to kill his wife.
The voice that sang him lullabies had shouted every bad word against him.
She was the woman he allowed to be his world and now his world had crashed.
Kanak rested her hand on his shoulder "Uma I"
He couldn't look at her, he wouldnt.
A forced marriage, taking away her freedom, he never offered her the trust or place she deserved.
This truly was a story of beauty and the beast.
Turning he faced Saras, his sister.
How he had wronged her, thrown her out, disowned her.

He closed his eyes as he remembered the promise he made her, to trust her, to not question her.
He failed that, so now what?
Would she leave?
He was selfish, he knew that but he never wanted to think of her as somebody elses.
Kanak held out the divorce papers to him
Was this it? Was this the end?
Kanak lit the paper alight as she dropped it watching the flames cover the paper and turn it to ash
"I trust you, to make this right, we can make this right"
Uma shook his head as he walked past her
Stopping he didnt look back
"You should leave, there is no place here for you now"
Kanak grabbed his hand and dragged him back "Where you go, I go, if there is no place for me, there is no place for my heart, my love, the other part of me, so lets go"
He was shocked at how pure she still was, how she still had love to give and how she was relentless in her search for his happiness and love
He knew he didnt deserve her, but he was selfish.
What would be of the beast without his beauty?
