Who do you think will become the next female superstar after Alia?

I can never guess who will shoot to number 1 randomly.

One day Priyanka was just at the level of Lara and Bipasha. Below Kareena. She was doing flower pot roles in Akshay, Bobby Deol, Sanjay movies. Then she did Fashion and nothing was the same again.

One year most of the big actresses decided to take it easy and Deepika decided to not do anything but work. She was part of 4 hit films (some of them crappy films) and she became the biggest superstar. Before this, she was competing with Katrina, Sonam and Anushka. And there would be debates who among them was the biggest star.

From 2008-2014 Kangana was a no one (even before that she really was a no one). Her biggest splash came from her relationships. Then she did Queen and again, became the Queen.

Similar thing happened to Vidya. Just when you think they are going to fade away they come back with something surprising that alters everything.

So I don't know who the next female superstar will be. For all I know it is Fatima, or Tapsee, or Bhoomi. It could be someone who we already see a lot of potential in. Or it could be someone who is buried in bad commercial films like Ileana, or Yami. It could be someone like Parineeti who could pull a Vidya or Kangana.

I like Aila but how is she a "baby" in the industry. I don't want to sound redundant but actress like Kajol and Karishma were huge superstars by the time they were 24. Alia (even with all the backing) still hasn't been able to reach that pinnacle of artistic excellence.

So due to lack of upcoming talent i dont think there will be a "next" superstar. I think Deepika, Alia etc will remain favs because there will be no competition for a while.

I really am hopeful about Saara and Jhahnhvhih !

Like life, I think a lot has changed in Bollywood in last 20 years. If you draw a timeline of these actresses' career then you will see almost 20 years ago when Kajol and Karishma were 24 they were getting ready to say goodbye to movies. They were considered experienced, veteran actresses. Kajol only worked for 3 more years before she took her break (leave). I think Alia is not even at the midpoint of her career unlike them, and like most actresses today she will probably work as a full time actress past her 30s. 30 is kind of seen as the new 25 in current generation of bollywood. So to me Alia being 24 means she is not even at the midpoint of her career. That is why to me, she is a baby. Compared to her contemporaries in the market, she is very young.

Karishma- by the age of 24 she was in Bollywood for 7 years and (apparently) worked in 40 films.

Kajol- by the age of 24 she worked 6 years and did 19 films

Alia- by age 24 she worked 5 years in Bollywood and did 9 films.

There are no real male superstars after the Khans either. That kind of hysteria isn't there even for the male actors, forget the actresses.
